TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

At headquarters tonight it looks another big night of racing, the big highlight is race 8 the Bayroad Queen Stayers Cup Final and it is a terrific race on paper, it certainly looks a wide open affair with many chances. The trainer to follow throughout the evening is the Petar Jovanovic kennel.

Race 1 - She will be very short and that is Cairnlea Ebony, the Jovanovic trained youngster carved out a B.O.N 29.66 leading throughout from box 1, she is our top pick. Velocity Chance appears to be a handy type and can run into the placings along with Rampage Luke. Box Up 2 from 1.5.9.

Race 2 - Canya Chase is a newcomer and passed a steward’s trial at Murray Bridge, he is in the powerful Rasmussen kennel and is a big threat here on debut. Firetail is one to keep safe as she hasn’t been spotted, add Dashing Dixson for the minors. Box Up 1.5.7.8.

Race 3 - Gargantuan Boy found a heap of trouble here last week when unplaced from a wide draw he looks the big improver from the rails draw and is our top pick. Tyson Choice overcame a check early to run on strongly and is a big chance if he can possie up close. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 4 - There looks to be several chances in this so we will go with Black Antico who should find this a little easier than his last start 6th in a FFA, he is well down in grade here and will be hard to beat. Born Billy is well drawn and is more than capable of surprising. Box Up 1.4.5.7.

Race 5 - This is a high quality 600m event and the in form Love Made Me is in outstanding form and is my top pick, she won over the 643m at Gawler last start when a short price favourite and looks very hard to beat again. Master Chaos was a very good 2nd behind Max Jake here last start and both those runners are chances again in this. Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 6 - There looks to be 2 main chances in this in Winsome Money and Jack Get Back both have early pace and should go close to running the quinella. Windmill Haze is very strong and will be rattling home late. Box up 1.2.4.8.

Race 7 - Times Right should start the punters elect here, he won here in a slick 29.59 3 runs back from box 5, from the draw he should go very close. Private Nangar is a run on type and is drawn for a bold showing, he will be the one we can back at each way odds. Add Gemtree Dynamo who will be flying home late. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 8 - This is the Stayers Cup Final and its very hard to go past Dyna Quota who has won 4 from 4 here, she is a chance of leading again so we will put her on top. Cairnlea Jet has been in handy form and has a terrific strike rate at this venue with 10 wins and 8 placings from his 22 starts, he is a must for our Trifecta and First Four. Billy’s Bake and Vandagambo for the minors. Box Up 2.3.4.6.

Race 9 - Cairnlea Blue looks to have a very bright future, she won on debut in 30.04 and has flashed home at her past couple here after missing the kick to run into the placings, she is our top selection. Huey Lee is a pacey type and is a chance of leading here for a long way. Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 10 - Crowdza Jumpin has won her past 2 here in good fashion, she has a good turn of early pace and handles a wide draw, she carved out a slick 29.89 here last start and should win again. Emerley Fabbro has been hit and miss of late but has to be in the mix for our Trifecta along with the Victorian visitor Rock It Fernando. Box Up 1.5.7.8

Race 11  - This certainly is a tricky event and I like the two Rasmussen trained sprinters in Come Home and Cappuccino, both are in form and have the speed to be on the pace early. Gus The Weapon and Play That Song can run into the minors. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Race 12 - Emerley Zero led everywhere bar the winning post here last start when 2nd behind Bailey Rocks, he has the pace to cross and can go one better tonight. Hot Zorro and Aston Jedi have also been around the mark and should fill the placings. Box Up 1.4.5.8.

MOUNT GAMBIER TO RACE EVERY THURSDAY AND SUNDAY

Mount Gambier will now race every Thursday from 2nd May with the introduction of the G-SIX racing.

As a result of this they will now race twice a week during the 3 month trial period on Thursdays and Sundays.

G-SIX RACING

May 2 kicked off G-SIX racing for a 3 month trial with Angle Park, Gawler and Mount Gambier all racing under these conditions.

G-SIX offers more racing at more meetings, cleaner racing with less interference as there are only 6 greyhounds per event, Stakemoney increases to owners and trainers worth more than $1,000,000 and a consistent weekly schedule at our venues.

There will be some exceptions to the G-SIX for feature races with specific feature events not under the G-SIX conditions, like the Group 3 Howard Ashton for example.

Participants are encouraged to check the racing calendar for G-SIX events and scheduling and ensure they are aware of the conditions during the 3 month trial.
