TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We had another terrific night on the punt here last week picking 10 winners from the 11 event programme, let’s hope we can do the same again tonight.  There looks to be several stand outs throughout the evening, remember all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - We will hopefully kick our night off with an early winner, so we will go for the Michael Giniotis trained Victa Suzie, she will find this a lot easier than her past couple and should be able to lead throughout from box 6, add in Jack Get Back and Stitch Em Bear for the Trifecta. Box up 1.2.3.5.

Race 2 – It’s very hard to go past last week’s winner Eedee Keesake who carved out a slick 29.83 here, she appears to have plenty of talent and should prove far too good again in this. Stitch 'Em Panda can run a race from box 1 and Striking Jewel can add some value for us in the Trifecta. Box up 1.3.4.5

Race 3 - This is the distance affair of the night and we will stick with Cairnlea Jet in the Jovanovic kennel he has won his last 3 here all in good fashion and should be very hard to beat again tonight.  The main danger again looks to be the pacey Jeebus Bird down on the rails, he has been runner up at his last 3 starts over this trip and is knocking on the door.

Race 4 - I like the bookends in this, Rachel Zane and Fabwik both are well drawn with the latter being my top selection, she made the Adelaide Cup final and in recent weeks she has been missing the kick, but the small field will be a big help.  Rachel Zane has terrific early pace and is a chance of pinching this, add Sarina Monelli for value. Box Up 1.4.6.8.

Race 5 - The Tony Rasmusssen trained Nations flew home late to win here last week in quick time from box 8, he has drawn the other side of the track tonight and will be hard to beat again on recent form.  Kennel mate Larrikin Locky is well drawn and can run a cheeky race again. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 6 - The Giniotis kennel can bring up a double with Victa Caleb in box 5, he has won 2 of his past 5 in quick times and has the pace to lead and win again.  Aston Marshall can improve from his rails draw along with Don Lesta who was a huge run here last week at big odds. Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 7 - Muchachos is in terrific form for the Ben Rawlings kennel, he has won 3 of his past 5 here and Gawler and with a moderate beginner on his inside will be very hard to beat.  Victa Ashley could make it a huge night for the Giniotis kennel if he continues in his current form. Box Up 2.5.7.8.

Race 8 - This is a top-class affair with Lenny The Jet who has won his last 3 here all from inside draws and Tauwitchere who ran a sizzling 29.64 here last week at only her 2nd start, both are classy acts and it makes for a terrific betting race.  Max Pick can run into the placings. Box up 1.2.6.8.

Race 9 - Winning form is good form and it’s very hard to go pass Merindah in this, she has won her last 5 here all in good fashion, she has early speed and should continue her winning way.  Mr. Arjay and Flyrite can figure from their draws. Box Up 1.3.6.8.

Race 10 - This looks a more than handy 600m affair and I will stick with the pacey Stack The Aces who won well at Gawler last start over the sprint, she has won 3 of 12 over this trip along with 6 placings and should prove the measuring stick in this. Croydon Boys will be running on as will Max Jake. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 11 – It’s always nice to go home on a winner and we can do that in a very tricky event with Tyche Onyx from the Troy Murray kennel, she has been placed in 3 of her past 5 starts here and looks very close to a win despite her poor draw.  Kinate has pace and can give this a big shake with early luck. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

LEIGH ROGERS FEATURE FINAL

Tonight we see the running of the Leigh Rogers Grade 6 feature Final.  After running 5 competitive heats last Thursday the final has brought together a field of highly competitive Grade 6 greyhounds including Lenny the Jet, winner of its last 3 starts and Tauwitchere, which has had 2 starts for 2 wins.

GRSA introduced this new race onto the feature race calendar last year in recognition of former long-time Food and Beverage Manager, Leigh Rogers, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer two years ago. Leigh is the husband of Rachael and father of three young girls and it will be great to see them on-course in recognition of Leigh.

BRIAN JOHNSTONE HEATS

Heats for the Brian Johnstone will be run on Wednesday, 14th November at Angle Park, followed by the Semi- Finals on Thursday, 22nd November and the $37,500 Final on Thursday, 29th November.

Nominations close with GRSA at 9.00am TOMORROW Friday, 9th November.

FREE TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK UNTIL MURRAY BRIDGE RACING

GRSA advises with the transition from Strathalbyn to Murray Bridge to support participants from that region there will be FREE trials at ALL Angle Park trial sessions on Tuesdays & Saturdays until Murray Bridge is racing.

It is still important that participants that are trialling advise staff to ensure they are on-course for their allotted timeslot.  GRSA is also looking at other ways we can assist participants in that region during this time.

MURRAY BRIDGE RACING DATES – FIRST MEETING ON DECEMBER 19

The racing dates for SA greyhounds for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season including Murray Bridge have been released.

Whilst all dates are subsequent to change it is anticipated that the first Murray Bridge meeting will be run on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 meaning that our local schedule will change.  All meetings at Murray Bridge initially will be on the One Turn track with the Straight track anticipated to have its first meeting on Wednesday, 13th February 2019.
GRSA will look to trial at Murray Bridge for about one month and conduct at least one Picnic meeting (Non-TAB) to ensure everything at the venue is working prior to our first meeting on the 19th December.

GRSA appreciates the feedback from participants regarding trialling under the new schedule and would welcome any more feedback before this is reviewed and a trial schedule is released.
A full list of Racing Dates for the 2018/2019 season were included in the October edition of Kennel Capers and on the website, along with an updated version of the Angle Park and Gawler feature dates which have changed based on the new schedule of racing.

GOTBA COURSING AWARDS NIGHT ON 15TH NOVEMBER

GOTBA will present their Annual Awards at Angle Park on Thursday, 15th November.

To be presented will be the SA Coursing Greyhound of the Year and the Coursing Trainer of the Year.

Also featuring on the night will be a Free For All event for greyhounds which competed at Virginia during 2018.  This race will be graded on circle form. The race is supported by GOTBA and carries prizemoney of $4,820.
Nominations close with GRSA at 9.00am on Monday, 12th November.

2019 GAWLER PRODUCE – NOMINATIONS

The 2019 Gawler Produce Stakes will be run by GRSA in conjunction with the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club.

Once again, we will offer guaranteed Final Stakemoney, which will be $22,000. The estimate for the total series prizemoney is $40,000, based on this year’s series. The series is for greyhounds whelped in 2017.

In 2019 we will again be offering additional incentives for trainers to nominate. A bonus will be offered to any greyhound which can win both the Produce Stake and the Gawler Gold Cup. The jackpot will increase from $6,000 to $7,000 as Panhandle Slim did not take part in the Gawler Gold Cup.

The SA Bred bonus will also be continued; should the winner of the Final be SA Bred, there will be a bonus of $1,000 to the owner and $500 to the breeder. The dates for this series will be Heats on Friday, 21st June 2019, Semi Finals on Friday, 28th June 2019 and the Final on Sunday, 7th July 2019 with a $2,700 consolation event.

Nomination Forms are available, along with the full list of conditions and the payment schedule.  Forms have been posted to those with eligible greyhounds.
