TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

With a strong 10 event programme it’s a must we win early, the night appears very even across the board so we will have a crack at the Trifectas. The kennel to follow looks to be the Mike Giniotis team, he has 3 runners engaged and they all look to have a big chance, don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Victa Ashley can kick start the night for us, he is quick early and with moderate beginners around him he should lead and win. Flying Ellen is well drawn and should be working home well late, add Zipping Maisy for value. Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the night and with several youngsters making their debut we will go with Red Railer down in box 3, she is in the Rasmussen kennel and that certainly is a plus. Corbett and Spring Brigade appear the place chances. Box Up 1.2.3.4.

Race 3 - I like one in this at each way odds at that is Unique Edition down in box 1 , he can be hit and miss early but will be doing his best work late. Victa Suzie and Hello I’m Jade are chances for our Trifecta. Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 4 - The Donald Turner trained Dynamo Jezz proved too strong over the short at Gawler last start and with his early pace should go very close in this from the inside draw. Data Queen is better than recent form suggests and could be the value runner if she finds the front early. Box Up 3.6.7.8.

Race 5 - Victa Caleb has been in terrific of late and he should take beating if he jumps to the front in this. Black Antico is a tardy beginner but will be running on late. Shot Thru and Times Right are also chances for our First Four. Box Up 1.5.6.8.

Race 6 - Spring Taylor looks to be one of the better bets of the night, she has won her past couple in good fashion here and Murray Bridge, the wide draw also suits. Rowchester Flash has handy Gawler form and can run into the placings from his good draw. Box Up 1.3.7.8.

Race 7 - Greyhound of the Year Honcho Monelli returned to the winner’s circle with a B.O.D 30.14 win at Murray Bridge last start, he still has more wins left in him and should go very close again. Westside Nippa has early pace and has won 4 of her past 5 here, she is drawn to run a cheeky race again. Box Up 1.3.4.6.

Race 8 - This is first of the two  600m affairs we have tonight  and we will go with the Ben Rawlings trained Surfing Dyno down in box 1, he was a last start winner here in a slick 35.04 and gets a chance to lead and win again at handy odds. Waterloo Monelli should start the punters elect on his 2 performances here since transferring to SA, he rattled home to score here in 34.98 last week at short odds and is  the one they have to beat but he can be hit or miss on box rise. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 9 - Zipping Keely is another newcomer here at headquarters tonight and trialled over the 515m in a moderate 30.38, she had very handy form prior in Victoria and looks the big improver in this tonight. Phil’s Green is the one to beat, he will be running on strongly, add Unmistakable who is out to his right distance. Box Up 1.4.5.8.

Race 10 - Sway Bars can send us home on a winning note, she has been placed in 4 of her past 5 and can finally break through despite the draw. Spring Cuervo has struggled at his past 3 but is more than capable of improving here at headquarters. Box Up 4.5.7.8.

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO NOMINATION PROCESS AND RACE MEETING COMPOSITION
(To take effect from February 11)

GRSA has a fundamental responsibility to manage weekly nominations and the scheduling of meetings in a manner which is responsive to the environment in which we operate and that best serves the interests of our local participants.  In noting the frequency with which nominations for race meetings are being extended – particularly during the summer months – and having regard for current supply pressures, the Racing Department will be adopting a new approach to race meeting composition from Monday, February 11.

For all meetings, other than for extraordinary circumstances, each timeslot will be afforded ONE extension of nominations period only.  The table below summarises the current standard closing times for meeting nominations and the final closing time that will apply from February 11.
In the event that the standard nominations closing time changes (due to Public Holiday, for example) the Racing Department will notify of that change via text and Industry Facebook.

Additionally, the priority for the Racing Department in constructing a race meeting will be to prioritise the number of races conducted over average field size.  To the extent that some smaller field sizes need to be drawn – noting that a standard minimum of six runners will apply – to meet that objective, that is the approach that will be adopted.  Exceptions to the minimum field size may apply in some instances such as for Thursday night staying events, match races, mixed higher grade events, time grading or to accommodate specific feature race requirements.

GRADE 6 CONDITIONS TO CHANGE DUE TO MONDAY NIGHT 388M - FROM 10TH FEBRUARY 2019

For meetings graded from 10th February, 2019 (first meeting affected will be Monday, 18th February) all greyhounds will use their City B grade and not APD Wednesday grade. There will be no retrospective grading for meetings graded from 10th February, 2019. So what grade your greyhound is at that time is what it will be going forward. Prizemoney will be short course City B money and winning greyhounds will take a penalty to be consistent with other meetings.

With 388m now considered on a Monday night (City B) the grading guidelines will also be changed (see below) to have consistency with our tracks. The main change is City A Thursday stands alone with winning only one Grade 6 event and also if you win a Grade 5 event you lose all Grade 6’s everywhere which has been in for some time. City B Monday night will now be considered for meetings graded from 10th February, 2019 like Gawler where you could win two Grade 6’s as part of your 4 (Non SA Bred) or 12 (SA Bred). This means, on a Monday greyhounds can win a 388m and then a 515m or a 600m and 515m. Please contact the Grader for further clarification if required.

UPDATE TO PATHWAY AND TIME GRADING TIME STANDARDS (Inclusion of Murray Bridge)

The GRSA Racing Department wishes to advise of an update to the time standards for both Time Grading and Pathway Racing. This update allows for the inclusion of Murray Bridge, following three months of racing at the venue and the subsequent evaluation of times being recorded. The changes will be implemented with immediate effect.

The Murray Bridge time standards will be subject to ongoing review to ensure they are consistent with the time standards from the other SA tracks.

PATHWAY TIME STANDARDS

REPAIRS TO GUTTERS ON ADELAIDE ROAD BY COUNCIL STARTING NEXT WEEK

GRSA was advised that the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council will be commencing road works from 25/2/19 to 25/3/19 to repair curb and gutters. This will affect Adelaide Road and likely participants, staff and patrons accessing the Angle Park venue. There may be road closures, traffic delays etc during this time.
