Angle Park Preview - Thursday 6th September 2018
by The Shadow
It certainly looks a strong programme here at Angle park tonight, the Rasmussen kennel have a strong team engaged and will be worth following throughout the night. Race 8 on the card appears an absolute ripper so don’t forget all races are First Four and Trifecta events.
Race 1 – Look for Emerley Nolen doing his best work late as an eachway chance along with Fox Gambler. Oshkosh Erny Vee has good speed. Box Up 3.5.6.7.
Race 2 - This is the maiden event of the night and we will stick with Hilltop Tales who we tipped here last week, she was a handy 2nd and must be very close to a win. Aston Ranza is from over the border and has been placed in 3 of her 6 starts and appears the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 3 - The Paul Abela kennel from Victoria look to have a big chance with Drop The Leash here, she won 2 starts back at the Meadows in fair time but won her maiden at Sandown in a more than handy 29.98 back in July, if that form holds up she will be very hard to beat. Emerley Indigo is drawn for a bold showing at good each way odds and is a must for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.5.8.
Race 4 - This is a strong distance affair and the Rasmussen trained Zudactyl Monelli gets his chance to return to the winner’s circle after being unplaced in recent runs in Melbourne, he should be on the pace throughout and loves the rails draw. Cairnlea Jet is better than recent form suggests and is the improver. Don’t overlook the Tassie performer in Wynburn Lucifer who could run into the First Four and good odds. Box Up 1.3.4.5.
Race 5 - Bogie Bullet has been good to us in recent starts and with the rails draw should run another cheeky race and looks hard to beat. Hopes Beau and Dyna Soren for value. Box Up 1.2.6.8.
Race 6 - This certainly appears a good betting race as Menzali will start the punters elect, he should win again but we need to pick the place getters,. Dyna Quail won here last week and has been very consistent in recent weeks as has Abuzz so we will put them in our Fist Four. Add Springvale Choix who will be rattling home late for value. Box Up 2.3.4.5.
Race 7 - Ben Rawlings has found the secret to his sprinter Hot Marlow as he has now won his past 2 in good fashion, he is well drawn out in box 8 tonight and should be able to continue his winning streak. Tyla Grace is the value runner for our First Four as she will be running on as will Mepunga Gal who is better drawn tonight. Box Up 2.3.7.8.
Race 8 - As mentioned before this is a very strong Open event, Fabwik has won his last 6 here all in quick times and he absolutely loves this draw so he is defiantly the one to beat. Nations has won 5 of his last 6 including a strong win at the Meadows last week over the 600m. Add Cairnlea Kenny who represented us in the National Sprint and we have one terrific race. Box Up 2.3.4.5.
Race 9 - I like the Victorian trained Palisades Park in this, she won from this draw at Sandown in 29.89 3 starts back, if she handles the track first up she should be very hard to beat. Dashing Hope can improve and run into the placings. Box Up 1.2.6.7.
Race 10 - This is a handy race as there are several chances at each way odds, they are the well-drawn Half A Mill who showed a bit of dash here last start and is more than capable on his night. Hold Da Door who ran them off their legs when a 7 Length winner here last start and Chilly Allen who has won here in the past in quick time. Box Up 1.2.6.7.
Race 11 - The Steve Brook kennel certainly has Just Did It racing well, he has won 4 of his last 5 over different distances from box 2 he appears a big chance again. Jeannie Shiraz and Spider Regis can be hit and miss on box rise but a worth putting in the Trifecta. Box Up 2.3.5.6.

STATE OF ORIGIN MATCH RACE SERIES IN LATE SEPTEMBER
GRSA has introduced an exciting new feature “State of Origin” Match Race series in a lead up to the Group 1 Adelaide Cup on Thursday, 29th September where 4 greyhounds from SA will take on 4 greyhounds from Victoria in one on one racing.
CONDITIONS OF THE SERIES:
The State of Origin Match Race series between South Australia and Victoria will be held on Thursday, 27th September this year, the week before the Adelaide Cup heats.
Eligibility as to who represents South Australia or Victoria would be based around the Nationals conditions. Greyhounds would need to be trained in either State 76 days out of the last 150 prior to the close of nominations.
GRSA will call for nominations which will close on Friday morning, 23rd September at 9am for the State of Origin Match Race series. The best four greyhounds nominated from SA and Victoria will be selected by the GRSA grader. The Grader will use whatever information he has available to select those greyhounds. The Graders decision will be final. Those greyhounds not selected from Interstate will be given the opportunity to solo trial or race in another event on the night. Reserves will be declared with one from SA and one from Victoria depending on nominations to replace the States representative if scratched. For example the SA reserve will only replace an SA scratching.
The Grader will rate the four greyhounds from each State in order from 1 to 4 with 1 being the highest rated greyhound. The head to head matches will be decided by the two 1 rated greyhounds competing against each other and then it will be 2 v 2, 3 v 3 and 4 v 4. Prizemoney for each individual match will also reflect 1 to 4 with the 1 rated greyhounds receiving the most amount of money. However the overall winner will still be determined based around the times the greyhounds run so all greyhounds have that opportunity.
PRIZEMONEY:
Winners of match races –
1 v 1 – Winner $3,750
2 v 2 – Winner $3,500
3 v 3 – Winner $3,250
4 v 4 – Winner $3,000
Overall State of Origin winner (based on overall times) $5,000, second $2,500, third $1,000
