TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

Tonight, here at headquarters we have a very strong 12 event programme with the highlight being the 2019 Shane McQueen Final over the 600m (race 8) with the winner collecting over $7,000. That event is certainly wide open so it makes for a terrific betting affair. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Its very hard to go past the Nathan Watson sprinter Oakvale Beauty, she was all class throughout the Howard Ashton series and finished runner up behind Querencia in the final, she should be far to classy in this. Cairnlea Blue and Dashing Mickey can fill the placings. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 2 - The Wilson kennel can bring up a race to race double with Oakvale Thrill in box 5, she stumbled on box rise here last start and flew late to run 2nd with a clean jump she can go one better and win. Gargantuan Boy and Double By Design can run the Trifecta. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 3 - Crowdza Jumpin’ is racing very well and should start the punters elect, she has a good turn of early pace and will go close. Invictus Nina is more than capable on her night and can’t be dismissed, she will be working home late and has room to move. Box Up 2.4.5.7

Race 4  - We will make Demolisher our top pick in this, he won here 2 starts back in 30.06 from box 8 and had been racing well over the short prior. Walk On Water can improve as can Precious Miracle who has drawn well down on the rails. Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 5 - The pacey Star Anise is our pick here, she is very quick early and won here 2 starts back in a slick 29.79, she looks one of the better bets of the night. Amara Lucy will be running on but can be hit and miss early. Add in Right Above It who has handy short course form for the minors. Box Up 4.6.7.8.

Race 6 - There is a lot of early pace in this so it makes for a tricky event we will go with the Mike Giniotis trained Victa Ashley, he is in terrific form with 3 wins from his last 5 and loves a wide draw. Gemtree Dynamo and Spring Sniper along with Better Dreams can run into the top Four. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 - Victa Caleb has continued to impress with strong wins at Gawler in recent runs, he is very quick early and is drawn for a bold showing once again. Cairnlea Jet is my pick as he is very strong and might get an early sit on the leaders and prove hard to beat. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 8 - The Shane McQueen final over the 600m and we will go with the inform Master Chaos who is in outstanding form winning his last 4 here all in quick times. The dangers look to be Love Made Me for the Murray kennel and Come Home who carved out a B.O.N 35.00 here last week. Box Up 1.2.6.7

Race 9 - Canya Chase was a last start winner in Victoria from box 1, he is unbeaten in 4 runs since transferring to the Rasmussen kennel and should win again but will be at very skinny odds. Allinga Mal along with Emerley Fabbro can run into the placings. 2 from 1.4.7 boxed

Race 10 - Sketchy Gun led everywhere bar the post here last start when run down by Premier Double on a heavy track, he can lead again and is my Each Way special of the night from his rails draw. Dyna Alice will be running on as will Max Jake who has a handy record over this trip. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Race 11 - Whata Key has been working towards a win for his new kennel and looks one of the major players in this from the wide draw. Spring Kuda rattled home to run 2nd at Gawler last start over the sprint and is well drawn here to give this a big shake and is my selection. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 12 - There is certainly a few chances in this but we will stick with the Kenny Gill sprinter Windmill Haze, he returned to the winners circle last start with a 30.27 win here over Dyna Adria, he can go very close again on that effort. Larrikin Locky has early pace as does Flyrite so they are a must for our Trifecta. Box Up 2.4.5.7

MURRAY BRIDGE SHOWGROUNDS DEMOLITION UNDERWAY

GRSA advises that demolition works on the track and facilities at the old Murray Bridge Showgrounds site are well underway.

This work involves the removal of the clubhouse and judges tower, as well as the starting boxes, track fencing, lure rail, catching pen and lure motor shed.

Participants will no longer be able to use the Showgrounds site to free gallop their greyhounds.
GRSA will discuss with the Club and maintenance staff the possibility of using the new straight track for free galloping outside of the normal racing and trialling schedule. There is also a long term objective to have a dedicated slipping track on the Murray Bridge site.

The exit from the Showgrounds site was a requirement of the Murray Bridge Council, as part of the purchase agreement for the parcel of land where GRSA have built the new greyhound racing facility.

MOUNT GAMBIER TO RACE EVERY THURSDAY AND SUNDAY

Mount Gambier will now race every Thursday from 2nd May with the introduction of the G-SIX racing. As a result of this they will now race twice a week during the 3 month trial period on Thursdays and Sundays.

G-SIX RACING

May 2 kicked off G-SIX racing for a 3 month trial with Angle Park, Gawler and Mount Gambier all racing under these conditions.

G-SIX offers more racing at more meetings, cleaner racing with less interference as there are only 6 greyhounds per event, Stakemoney increases to owners and trainers worth more than $1,000,000 and a consistent weekly schedule at our venues.

There will be some exceptions to the G-SIX for feature races with specific feature events not under the G-SIX conditions, like the Group 3 Howard Ashton for example.

Participants are encouraged to check the racing calendar for G-SIX events and scheduling and ensure they are aware of the conditions during the 3 month trial.

BLACK SHORTS NOW AVAILABLE FROM GRSA

After approval from the ICG, black shorts are now part of the GRSA Dress Code Policy and available for sale from GRSA.

These shorts have the GRSA logo embroidered on the back and are the only shorts approved. They cost $45 and are available in mens and ladies sizes with orders taken if we do not have your size. Black shorts are to be worn with black socks and black shoes. These shorts can be worn at the discretion of the participant at any time.

NEW RED WET WEATHER JACKETS

GRSA purchased new red Jackets for winter to be available as a replacement for the blue Drizeabone Jackets which are now no longer available.

These red jackets are at the tracks and are available for purchase at Angle Park for a cost of $50. GRSA will take orders as required.

After consideration participants will be able to wear the Red Jackets at all times as they require regardless if raining or just cold however if being used on the way to the boxes it is requested that the “Only At The Dogs” vest is work over the top. GRSA will continue to monitor the use of these jackets.
