TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The racing at headquarters tonight certainly looks interesting with a very strong Doug Payne Feature which is race 4 on the card. There are only 5 runners engaged but the Kirin Corby kennel holds all the aces with her pair of talented sprinters in Fabwik and Tauwitchere. Other strong events on the night is the 600m affair (race 5) and the 3 heats of the Grade 5 series later in the night. Don’t forget all races are First Four and Trifecta events. The kennel to follow is the powerful Rasmussen team.

Race 1 - The Kirin Corby kennel should have a big night and they should win with the talented Sennachie in this, he is a very smart youngster with a huge future. Selections 5.8.2.7

Race 2 - This is a wide open affair and the Kim Johnstone trained Zia Giulia is knocking on the door, she has 3 placings here and will be right in the finish. Spring Rodney appears the main danger out in box 7. Selections 3.7.5.1

Race 3 - Its hard to go past the well-drawn Bailey Rocks down in box 1, she won here 3 runs back in quick time and finished 4th behind  Tauwitchere last start beaten by just 3 Lengths. Dyna Naya and Magic Vi for the minors. Selections 1.3.7.5

Race 4 - This is the Doug Payne Feature and as mentioned earlier the Corby team should run the Quinella with Fabwik and Tauwitchere in this, both are very talented with the later having a perfect record of 5 from 5. Selections 1.6.8.4

Race 5 - Jeebus Bird found a heap of trouble over the sprint here last week and can bounce back tonight over the 600m. Mepunga Gal won over this trip last start in a smart 35.18 and will be the big threat. Selections 3.2.7.1

Race 6 - This is the Open event and a very smart one, the Rasmussen team can nearly run the First Four here with Honcho Monelli being my top pick, he has campaigned in Victoria at his last 2 runs and will find this more to his liking. Larrikin Locky loves this draw and will be the improver. Selections 7.1.4.2

Race 7 - Spring Kudu has been in good form in recent weeks and his recent wins have been from wide draws so he appears amongst the main chances. Zinnia Monelli will be running on late and is a must for the Trifecta punter. Selections 7.3.4.1

Race 8 - The pace will be coming from out wide so we will need luck in the run to the first turn, Coffee King won from this draw last start and should be right in the mix again on that effort. Dyna Lenae has been ultra-consistent of late and is well worth putting in the First Four. Selections 7.5.2.1

Race 9 - Shimando looks one of the better bets on the programme, he was racing well prior to his unplaced run at Ballarat and should prove very hard to beat. Gemtree Dynamo will add some value to the Trifecta. Selections 3.7.4.6

Race 10 - Come On Loopy is my value runner of the night, she has a good turn of early pace and is in terrific form with 2 wins from her last 5 runs. Surfing Dyno loves to fill a place as does Matriculate. Selections 8.3.4.6

Race 3 NO 1 Bailey Rocks
Race 5 NO 3 Jeebus Bird

DOUG PAYNE SA BRED FEATURE TONIGHT

The time honoured Doug Payne SA Bred Feature FFA will be run tonight at Angle Park. Whilst only 5 greyhounds engaged it’s a real interesting field that will contest the SA Bred Feature.

Kirin Corby holds the key with open class flyer Fabwik drawn perfectly in box 1 joined in the feature by kennel mate Tauwitchere which is undefeated in her 5 lifetime starts. They look the testing material however Alicante Bouchet for Ben Rawlings is a flying machine out of boxes and could give them something to chase from box 8. Both Highbury Hustle and Amity Marlow look slightly outclassed however in a small field a touch of luck their way could see an upset.
The race is worth $10,710 to be run as race 4 at 7.40pm (SA time) and is a Non Penalty FFA Event.
Good Luck to all contestants tonight in one of the feature races for SA Bred greyhounds.

GRADE 5 FEATURE HEATS TONIGHT

Tonight we have four heats of the Feature Grade 5 series to be run over the 515m.

GROUP 1 BRISBANE CUP TONIGHT

After five heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup last week the Albion Park feature (Race 8) has drawn together an outstanding field of chasers to be run tonight.

The likes of Miss Splendamiro, Hasten Slowly, Not Available and Cosmic Bonus look the top contenders.  The winning connections take home $100,000 so the final should be keenly contested.

ANGLE PARK TRIALS MOVED FROM SATURDAY 15th TO SUNDAY 16th DECEMBER

Greyhound Racing SA has moved the Saturday morning trials at Angle Park on 15th December to Sunday 16th December to accommodate staffing availability.

In support of trialing opportunities it was considered best to move the trial session to Sunday rather than cancel all together. Trialing will commence on Sunday at 7.00am like a normal Saturday with bookings taken as per normal.

FREE TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK UNTIL MURRAY BRIDGE RACING

GRSA advises with the transition from Strathalbyn to Murray Bridge to support participants from that region there will be FREE trials at ALL Angle Park trial sessions on Tuesdays & Saturdays until Murray Bridge is racing.

It is still important that participants that are trialling advise staff to ensure they are on-course for their allotted timeslot.  GRSA is also looking at other ways we can assist participants in that region during this time.

MURRAY BRIDGE RACING DATES – FIRST MEETING ON DECEMBER 19

The first Murray Bridge meeting will be run on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 meaning that our local schedule will change.
