TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We have another strong 12 event programme here at Headquarters tonight and in the past few weeks we have certainly been snaring a couple at each way odds.  The kennel to follow tonight is the well-travelled Steve Bartholomew team.  As always, all races are trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - This is a tricky event to kick off with and I like Valide out in box 8, she has been racing well on country circuits and will only need an ounce of luck to score.  Box Up 5.7.8

Race 2 - Missing Queen led early last week only to be run down late when 3rd behind Dashing Dixon, she looks the likely leader again and is among the main chances.  Corryong McLaren will be charging home over the top of them and if close enough early is my top pick.  Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 3 - Missy Crane had plenty of support here last start when a tiring 3rd, she can lead and win tonight as she is well drawn, so we will put her on top. Balboa Fury is a very moderate beginner and will be doing his best work over the last 100m, add Dashing Mickey who has only had the 8 career starts and is yet to miss a cheque. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 4 - The Lauren Harris team can go back to back wins here if Romanowski can handle the 515m, he has handy short course form and should lead here for a long way.  Release The Fury is another who is rising in the trip and is more than capable of running into the placings along with Huey Lee. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 5 - This is a 600m event and it’s hard to go past Bobby The Jett down in box 2, he won over the sprint here last start in good fashion and should go very close in this from the draw.  West On Tia is working towards a win but she can be hit and miss on box rise, the ex-WA performer is very smart and is the big danger. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 6
- Galactic Athena started a very short priced favourite here last week and won in a slick 29.77, she is in the Steve Bartholomew kennel and should win again.  Abbey’s Banjo won on debut at Gawler and the ex-Tassie performer is well boxed at her 1st Angle Park start. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 7 - The pacey Better Dream can make it 3 in a row from his good draw of 1, he has led them a merry dance here in recent starts for strong wins and looks the measuring stick again.  Whata Key has terrific form over the 600m with 2 quick wins he will be rattling home and looks a certainty for the placings and is my each way special of the night. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 8 - This is the open affair of the night and it’s certainly a top class field, with several chances it makes for a good betting race.  The main chances look to be Waterloo Monelli who has returned to form with 2 smart wins in quick times at Murray Bridge and Gawler, he has a good strike rate and is well drawn.  Alicante Bouchet has been well travelled in recent starts and won here in 29.81 last week, she is quick early and will be hard to toss, as will be Time’s Right, he is in superb form and loves a wide draw, he certainly is right in the mix. Box up 1.2.7.8

Race 9 - The flying Galactic Destiny is making her city debut, she has won 3 from 4 at Mt Gambier all in good times, she looks to have her fair share of ability and is one to watch.  No Signal won from this draw last week in 30.12 and is the big danger, add in Victa Boris who has terrific Gawler form. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 10 - Galactic Titan won here last week leading throughout from box 8 for a quick 29.81 win, he is very quick early and should win again. Total Mayhem and Demolisher for the minors.

Race 11 - Alpha Aion found early trouble here last start when unplaced, he normally shows a good turn of early pace and gets his chance to return to the winner’s circle in this.  Slipper’s Time can set the early pace and has been racing well in recent weeks but can get a little tired in the last 50m. Add Blastoise whom loves to fill a place. Box up 1.2.6.8

Race 12 - Spring Cuervo can send us home on a winning note, he has won 4 of his past 5 here and at Gawler, he should be able to lead and win again.  Yoda continues to fill a place, he will be doing his best work late, as will Winsome Dylan, he is very strong and is the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.7

MURRAY BRIDGE STRAIGHT TRACK UPDATE

GRSA has committed to the commencement of straight track racing on Wednesday 24th July.

Based on the current schedule of works, this will be from both the 300m and 350m starts. However, if issues are encountered with the crane system for the 300m boxes for any reason, the 24th July meeting will proceed regardless, with racing out of the 350m start only. This will mean that Angle Park will now race on Wednesday, 17th July giving them back to back meetings and swapping with Murray Bridge.

This will also allow for three consecutive race meetings on the straight track, with the last two meetings being the local Heats and Final of the SEN National Straight Track Championship series.
