TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We must bounce back tonight after a very ordinary week on the punt, the highlight is definitely the two heats of the 2019 Stayers Cup which are races 3 and 4, both are very open and should make good betting races. We also have a top quality 600m and the final of the 2019 Breeders Prelude (2). All races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Victa Ashley can kick start the night for us, he has been missing the start of late but was an eye catching run here last start when 4th, we will put him on top. Larrikin Locky led last start only to be run down so he appears a good place chance once again. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 2 - This is the Maiden event of the night and the Nathan Wilson chaser Oakvale Beauty can go one better than her last start 2nd here, she should lead and win. Invictus Nina will be running on along with Contrail. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 3 - The first of the Distance heats and Dyna Quota has been in great form winning 3 of 3 at this venue, she is well travelled and is my top pick. Cairnlea Jet should start the punters elect and is drawn for another bold showing, add the Victorian Vandagambo who charged late here last week for the minors. Box Up 1.4.5.7.

Race 4 - The second of the heats and I like one in this at each way odds in this with Saldana, she is stepping up to the 700m tonight but has very smart 600m form, she is a big chance of pinching this. Billy’s Bake finally broke through for a well-deserved win here last week and will be amongst the main chances again, adding the newcomer Equilibrium and Aston Atley. Box Up 2.5.7.8.

Race 5 - Victa Caleb is the form runner winning 5 of his last 6 starts, he looks well-drawn in this and should get the chocolates; Born Billy can add a bit of value as he loves the rails and is very close to a win. Ebby Lamar is very smart when able to lead and can’t be overlooked. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 6 – Time’s Right carved out a slick 29.59 run here 2 starts back leading throughout and should be able to do the same again here. Winsome Money is another who will figure in the mix, he has won 4 of his last 5 and is the main danger. Waterloo Monelli is dropping back in distance tonight and will be charging home late. Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 7 - The Rasmussen kennel rarely goes home without a winner and Come Home led them a merry dance here last start to win in 29.64, he has moderate beginners on his inside and looks the leader once again. Star Anise is better than her past couple suggest and will be right in the finish. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 8 - This is a good crop of youngsters and the inside 4 are all drawn for a bold showing. Allinga Mal is our top pick as he has struck form with smart wins here and at Gawler, he can be tardy early but musters very quickly. Bailey Rocks is very smart with luck early she can carve out quick times and a win wouldn’t surprise, add Emerley Zero for value along with Emerley Fabbro who both are handy types. Box up 1.2.3.4.

Race 9 - Veteran sprinter Honcho Monelli is having his 124th start tonight, he has a perfect record over this trip with 1 from 1, the wide draw is a bonus and he can go close. Unmistakable was very disappointing here last week when unplaced he must lead to win and will be at each way odds. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Race 10 - King Percy was very impressive on his debut here last week when pinging the lids and went on for a strong 29.95 win, he should only improve and is boxed for a bold showing. Velocity Chance is another who was on debut here last week and was a strong 2nd behind Just Kenny in 29.88, she is definitely the big danger. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 11 - The Jovanovic kennel look to have a handy one in Cairnlea Blue, she won her Maiden here in 30.04 then rattled home late to run 2nd behind Valide after striking early trouble, she should bounce back and win this. Weblic Nic is very capable on her night and is drawn to run a cheeky race. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 12 - Cairnlea Ebony can bring up a race to race double for the Jovanovic kennel ,she is another who appears to have a bright future and she won her maiden in a smart 29.78 here 2 starts back from box 5. From the rails draw she can send us home on a winning note. Victa Nash and Winsome Dylan can fill the minors. Box Up  1.2.4.8.

MURRAY BRIDGE TRIALS TOMORROW

Trials at Murray Bridge tomorrow will be on the One Turn Track & Straight Track. The One Turn Track will start at 8am until 9.00am.

The Straight Track will then run from 9.00am until 11am. Trainers can just turn up for the Straight Track to trial and these trials will be FREE.

MOUNT GAMBIER TO RACE EVERY THURSDAY AND SUNDAY

Mount Gambier will now race every Thursday from today with the introduction of the G-SIX racing. They will now race twice a week during a 3 month trial on Thursdays and Sundays.

G-SIX RACING STARTS FROM TODAY

Today kicks off G-SIX racing for a 3 month trial with Angle Park, Gawler and Mount Gambier all racing under those conditions.

G-SIX offers more racing at more meetings, cleaner racing with less interference as there are only 6 greyhounds per event, Stakemoney increases to owners and trainers worth more than $1,000,000 and a consistent weekly schedule at our venues.

There will be some exceptions to the G-SIX for feature races with specific feature events not under the G-SIX conditions like the Group 3 Howard Ashton for example.

Participants are encouraged to check the racing calendar for G-SIX events and scheduling and ensure they are aware of the conditions during the 3 month trial.

G-SIX MIXING OF GRADES DURING TRIAL PERIOD

During the trial period of G-SIX the mixing of grades will have to slightly change.

For example, normally if we have three Grade 4’s and 10 Grade 5’s (total 13 dogs) the Grader will grade an 8 dog Grade 5 and a 5 dog mixed 4/5. Under G-SIX conditions the Grader will grade a six dog Grade 5 and a six dog mixed 4/5 with one common reserve.

GAWLER TO RACE IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE ON TUESDAY 14TH MAY 2019

After GRSA received a request from Racing Queensland to assist with a movement of their race meetings on Tuesday 14th May 2019, GRSA in conjunction with the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club have moved their normal Tuesday Day Meeting (Sky 1) into the Tuesday Twilight Timeslot (Sky 1).

Our first race on this day will start around 3.20pm and finish around 6.20pm. GRSA appreciates the Gawler GRC and other users of the Gawler venue on this day being flexible to assist with this time change. GRSA is happy to assist other States with programming changes where possible to assist those Clubs and Authorities.

MURRAY BRIDGE STRAIGHT TRACK TO NOW START IN JUNE 2019

GRSA had intended for the Murray Bridge Straight Track to commence racing in early May 2019 however due to more trialling required at the venue to bed down processes and procedures this has been delayed by one month.

GRSA are providing more trialling opportunities on the Straight Track in the coming weeks before running a Picnic meeting in a few weeks time prior to the first meeting.

GRSA will continue the fortnightly Murray Bridge meeting on the One Turn track on Wednesdays however due to the introduction of G-Six from today and being responsive to current nomination numbers the Murray Bridge meeting will rotate with Angle Park on this day. Murray Bridge will now race a TAB meeting on Wednesday 8th May rather than the Picnic meeting.

Date changes are listed below -
Add: Murray Bridge – Wednesday 8th May 2019  (TAB) Day

Add: Angle Park – Wednesday 15nd May 2019  (TAB) Day
Delete: Murray Bridge – Wednesday 15th May 2019  (TAB) Day

Add: Angle Park – Wednesday 29th May 2019  (TAB) Day
Delete: Murray Bridge – Wednesday 29th May 2019  (TAB) Day

It is anticipated when the Straight Track comes onto the racing calendar in June that it will replace the One Turn Track at Murray Bridge on the fortnightly Wednesday and continue to rotate with Angle Park in the initial stages.
