TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We certainly have a terrific night of racing here tonight at headquarters, we have a whopping 12 events which consist of two heats of the 2019 Anniversary Cup over the sprint which are races 6 and 7, along with two heats of the SA Distance Championship, races 9 and 10. I hope you all followed me last week as we had a huge winner at 19/1 as my roughie bet of the night with Diamond Heart winning. Let’s hope we can do the same again tonight. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - We kick off a big night tipping a visitor in this in Quara’s Flick, she has been well travelled of late with wins at the Meadows and Bendigo, looks well placed in this and should go close. Max Shake and Dyna Adria can fill the placings. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 2 - The Greg Board youngster Spring Brigade is knocking on the door, he found early trouble here last week from a wide draw and can break through in this. The Ben Rawlings pair in Miss Breakout and Mister Kingswood look places chances. Box Up 3.4.6.7.

Race 3 - This looks a wide open affair as there looks to be several chances, I like Swift Timing who bounced back with a strong win here in 29.89. Spring Bella has a perfect record of 4 from 4 over the short and steps up to the 515m tonight and should be in this for a long way. Box Up 1.2.3.7.

Race 4 - Unmistakable has certainly found form with 2 smart wins over the 600m and hung on to win over the journey here last week, he is back to his right distance (600) tonight and looks the measuring stick once again. Max Jake will be running on strongly from box 3 and add Sketchy Gun as our value runner for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.3.7.

Race 5 - This looks a perfect First Four event and we will go with Unique Edition down in box 1, he loves this draw and won here 3 runs back in 29.81. Go Brandi is quick early and will give them something to catch with early luck. Born Billy is our value runner, he is slow early but is a good each way chance from the draw. Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 6 - This is the first of the Anniversary Cup Heats and it’s hard to go past Cawbourne Swade down in box 1, he has won his past 2 here including a smart 29.68 here last week from box 2. Kennel mate Honcho Monelli has won his last 3 all in B.O.N and the veteran just keeps on winning and is the big danger. Box Up 1.2.3.4.

Race 7 - The second of the heats and the well-travelled Nervous An Weird has an impressive portfolio, he has 17 wins and 8 placings from his 28 career starts. He won at Horsham 3 runs back and is well drawn down on the fence. Shima Mart and the inform Victa Ashley are the main dangers. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 8 - There is a lot of pace in this so we must try and pick the leader, Flyrite has led in 3 of her past 5 she is down in grade and we will make her our top selection. Spring Double will be running on late and is helped by his draw, add Data Queen and Winsome Money for the minors. Box Up 1.3.4.6.

Race 9 - This is the first of the SA Distance heats and we must go with last winner Cairnlea Jet, he will be at skinny odds, but he looks to strong. Dyna Quota and Zudactyl Monelli are very strong and can fill the placings. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 10 - The second of the heats and the interstaters in Rajasthan and Billy’s Bake appear definite chances, both have handy Melbourne form over the 600m and 700m and are sure to be prominent. Nations is my top pick as he has the local knowledge and should be able to lead. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 11 - Phosphenes has started her career in fine form with 2 wins and a 2nd from just the 3 starts all over the short, she steps up to the 515m tonight and should prove hard to beat. Dashing Hope is well drawn and will give plenty of cheek from the rails. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 12 - After a HUGE night of racing its always good to go home on a winner and my top pick is Ed The Expert down in box 1, she has handy form over the short at Gawler and looks well placed in this. Red Railer can improve along with Gus The Weapon. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
