TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The highlight on tonight’s programme would have to be Race 4 the 2018 UBET State of Origin Match Race Series over the sprint, with 4 Victorians up against 4 local performers and the concept has a handy cheque on the end of it. We also have another 600m event and a distance race later in the evening. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events and we did snag a couple here last week.

Race 1 - To kick start the evening we should box up the inside brigade in this as they all look to have a chance. Gemtree Dynamo won from this draw 2 starts back in good time and should prove the measuring stick, the other 3 all have a strong chance. Box Up 1.2.3.4.

Race 2 - The Maiden event of the night and the Victorian trained Rocket Jax can give this a big shake, he has only had the 3 race starts with a placing over the short at Horsham. Manchester Magic is another newcomer and is now locally trained he hasn’t raced since running 2nd at Lismore late in August, he is sure to be well tried on his SA debut. Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 3 - This is the 600m of the night and we stuck with Stack The Aces here last week and he didn’t let us down when leading throughout at the juicy odds of 6/1, on that run he can do the same again. Max Jake and Croydon Boys can run into the placings, Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 4 - The 2018 UBET State of Origin with 4 runners from across the border taking on 4 locals in Match Race conditions with the overall winner being the fastest time. Nations had been in fine form prior to his last start failure with 6 wins over this trip some in very quick times, he can go the fastest for mine; Degani has solid form in Victoria and can go fast along with Bernardo. 4-2-1.

Race 5 - This is a wide open affair and I like one here at value in Rachel Zane, she worked home well from this draw last start when 2nd in 29.85, if she can kick up early she might be able to hold the lead and would then prove hard to beat. Alpha Aion is very smart when on song and is a must for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.5.6.8.

Race 6 - The Rasmussen team hold a strong hand in this with Sarina Monelli and Don Lesta, both can be hit and miss on box rise but are very strong. Emerley Nolen is a lot better than last start suggests and is capable of running a big race. Box Up 2.3.6.7.

Race 7 - I like a newcomer in this now in the Rasmussen kennel the EX WA performer Zinnia Monelli, she has won 4 from 42 but loves to run a place (27) and the change of venue could be a big help. The dangers look to be Lucy Stardust and Black Antico. Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 8 - It might be a huge night for the Rasmussen team as I’m tipping them again in this with Menzali, he had a little hick up last start when unplaced at Horsham but was in fine form prior. Pure Ability is very smart and will take a power of beating with bit of luck early. Box Up 1.3.4.8.

Race 9 - The Distance affair of the night and it’s very hard to go past Springvale Cooke who has been in terrific form of late, she is drawn to perfection and should win again. Jeebus Bird is the improver and is a must for all trifecta punters, add Steve Keeping and Pirates Curse at big odds. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 10 - With only the 5 runners the old fellow Mr. Arjay can win again, he is having his 130th start tonight and is a credit to his trainer Colin Swain in keeping him in winning form. Hukanui will appreciate the small field and will be charging home. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 11 - I love my Coffee and we can go home on a winner with Coffee King in this, he won 2 on the trot here then failed to beat a runner home at Horsham last start, he can bounce back and take a power of beating. Phil De Thunder and Dyna Lenae are more than capable. Box Up 2.4.5.6.
