TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We certainly have a good mixture of racing here at headquarters tonight with racing over the main 3 distances, last week we finished on the right side of the ledger and we should be able to do the same again tonight. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events. The kennel to follow for the evening is the Ben Rawlings team, they have several strong chances throughout the evening.

Race 1 - Canya Connor has been racing well here of late, he gets a good draw tonight and should prove very hard to beat. Dyna Adria can possie up early and will be right in the mix late, add Up Time Girl who is a pacey type and she loves to run a place. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 2 - This is the Maiden event of the night and we will go with the ex-Victorian Five Thirty, she has had 12 starts for 3 placings, she has been well travelled on Vic Country circuits. Corryong McLaren is slow early, he will need luck from the draw but is strong. Box up 1.4.5.8

Race 3 - Missy Crane was a good even run in the Champion Puppy Final here last week when 2nd behind Miss Breakout, she is very consistent and has the pace to lead. American Man was very impressive when winning here on debut in 29.93, he looks to be a handy youngster and will be hard to beat again. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 4 - This is the Distance affair of the night and we will go with the Nicole Stanley trained Ethics down in box 1, she looks the value in a very open affair. More Rum Bateman will improve after finding trouble over the 600m last start, add West On Tia who is very smart when on song. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 5 - Victa Boris proved far to strong here last week when winning in 35.20 from box 5, he has the pace to kick up early and should prove the one to beat. Lose Your Blues is working towards a win and is a must for Trifecta punters. Fantastic Flossy will only be improved by her win here last week, the NSW visitor is a well-travelled performer with ability. Box up 1.2.4.5.

Race 6 - Oakvale Thrill ran home strongly to score at Gawler last start, she has a big motor and just needs a clear run early to win. Emmy Gray can set the pace as she is very quick early and looks the main danger along with Exciting Times. Box up 1.2.5.8

Race 7 - The ex-WA performer Crash Bandicoot led them a merry dance here last week when winning in 29.86, he looks a more than handy type and will go close again. Game Face is racing very well and can figure in the money once again along with Come Home. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 8 - Alpha Aion found early trouble here last start when unplaced from box 4, he is well drawn in this and should be able to lead and win. Ebby Lamar has been racing well over the 600m, he is back to the sprint here and looks a trifecta hope. Lektra Brandy has been in terrific form at Mount Gambier winning her last 3, she appears the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 9 - There’s a couple of quick beginners in this in Classy Blaze and Exceptionable who both have been racing well and should nearly run the Quinella. Oakvale Astro was a huge run when winning the Maiden here last week, he is tardy early and will be doing his best work over the last 100m. Box up 1.4.5.8

Race 10 - Matty Mateusz proved far too good here last week when leading throughout over this trip for a slick 35.03 win, he has been racing well and is our top pick. Whata Key has proven costly to the old hip pocket in recent weeks but can never be left out and is drawn well as is West On Bamboo. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 11 - This certainly is a wide open affair with several chances, I like one at each way odds in Highbury Hustle, he is well drawn and should be able to be handy in the run to the 1st turn. Blastoise is very strong and is one for our Trifecta. Sally Girl is the value runner for fist four. Box up 2.4.7.8

Race 12 - Road Travelled was a B.O.N winner here last start in 29.64 from box 4, he has struck form and is drawn for a bold showing again. Spring Taylor can be hit and miss on box rise, she is more than capable when on song and has been racing well at the Bridge. Box up 1.2.4.7

STEWARDS NOTICE – 300M BOXES AT MURRAY BRIDGE

GRSA Stewards have reviewed the operations of the inaugural Murray Bridge Straight Track race meeting yesterday in conjunction with the Maintenance department and GRSA Work Health and Safety Officials.

It has been identified there is a risk for injury when handlers remain on the track after boxing and when the lure is in operation.
Effective immediately, the GRSA Starter has been instructed to not activate the light on the starting boxes until all handlers boxing greyhounds are off the track and behind the gate.  Participants boxing greyhounds must follow any instructions from the Starter or Steward present.  Only the Starter operating a manual start or a Steward may remain on the track during the starting process.
This policy is relevant to both race day and trials.  It is in line with policies at other straight track venues in Australia.
Further improvements will be made shortly to the concrete pad at the 300m boxes to to identity a safe position to view the race from.
Our industry is responsible for keeping each other safe so we appreciate your cooperation.  Any questions regarding this policy can be referred to GRSA Stewards.
