TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

It certainly is an interesting night of racing here at headquarters tonight, we have 2 very smart semis of the Brian Johnstone over the sprint, 2 quality events over the 600m and a FFA that has a heap of early pace. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Winning form is good form so we must stick with Gwydion in box 5, she is very strong and her last 2 wins have been in very quick times. Just Did It will be running on and is well drawn along with Madam Onyx for the placings. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Race 2 - The Maiden affair of the night and the well bred Sennachie is my top pick, he is from a smart litter and is sure to be well tried on his debut. Closing Midnight is drawn to run a cheeky race on his Angle Park debut. Box Up 1.2.3.7

Race 3 - The Bill Wudarczyk kennel can bring up an early double with Alfieri in this, he was a last start winner here in 30.02 from box 3 when a very short price favourite. He should prove too smart again. Spring Taylor and Spring Double have early pace and can figure in the placings. Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 4 - This is a wide open affair and we will go with the Lisa Rasmussen trained Dyna Soren down in box 2, he has been struggling of late from poor draws but appears a good chance from a favourable draw here. Up Time Girl is quick early and is resuming she can feature in our Trifecta along with Born Billy and Flyrite. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 5 - The 1st of the 600m and the inside two look the ones to beat, Jeebus Bird drops back in distance and looks primed for this while Stack The Aces is quick early and has won 3 from 13 along with 6 placings over this trip. Add Pyredos Monelli who should be running on strongly. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 6 - The 1st of the semis of the Brian Johnstone and we have to go with Oakvale Magic in this, she carved out a slick BOD 29.66 here last week from this draw and should be far to classy in this. Times Right and Agent Thirteen can run into the placings. Box Up 1.4.7.8.

Race 7
- Nathan Wilson can bring up a race to race double with Oakvale Warrior in this, he won here last week in 29.70 and showed a good turn of early pace. Victa Ashley is racing well as is Alicante Bouchet. Box Up 1.4.5.6.

Race 8 - The Final over the 600m and we must stick with Nations in this, he flew late to run 2nd behind Destini Rocket here last week and is drawn for a forward showing. Why That was pipped on the post after leading early and can run into the placings. Add Destini Rocket who has been in the money at his last 4 runs. Box up 1.3.4.6.

Race 9 - Fabwik has returned to form with 2 smart wins here in recent weeks both from box 8, she is normally a quick beginner and should prove to smart again. Sarina Monelli will be running on along with Larrikin Locky for the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 10 - Cairnlea Jet’s recent form has been over the 731m but he drops back to the sprint tonight and should go very close again on past form, he has drawn perfect and can give this a big shake at each way odds. Merindah is in outstanding form with 6 wins on the trot, she should set the early pace again and start the punters elect. Box Up 1.2.5.7.

Race 11 - Its always good to go home on a winner and I like the Troy Murray trained Aston Marshall despite his poor draw of 5, he has good short course form and will be right in the mix. All About Corey is tardy on box rise but will be flying home. Box Up 2.5.7.8.

2018 BRIAN JOHNSTONE SEMI FINALS TONIGHT

Tonight we see the running of two excellent semi-finals of the 2018 Brian Johnstone (Group Three).

The first semi-final features the clash between Oakvale Magic for Nathan Wilson, Agent Thirteen for Ben Rawlings and Time’s Right for Cameron Butcher. It looks a great race to kick the semi-finals of and is race 6 on the program.
In the second semi-final Oakvale Warrior for Nathan Wilson looks a strong contender but should get some stiff competition from Alicante Bouchet for Ben Rawlings and Victa Ashley for Mike Giniotis. This will be race 7 on the card tonight.
The first four from each semi-final qualifies for the $37,500 Brian Johnstone final on Thursday 29th November with the fastest fifth being declared the first reserve and the other fifth placegetter the second reserve. The box draw for the final will take place on course tonight after the running of race 8 tonight.
The final part of this series will be the Gawler Classic 2018 to be run on 9th and 16th December 2018.

MELBOURNE CUP FINAL TOMORROW TONIGHT AT SANDOWN

What a great night of racing it will be Interstate tomorrow night with the running of the $630,000 Group 1 TAB Melbourne Cup Final being run on a Friday night at Sandown.
The final is an outstanding race headed by star chasers My Redeemer and Poke The Bear along with up and coming speed sensation Black Opium. Its going to be an unbelievable race for Melbourne Cup glory with the winners considered the best greyhound in Australia.  It will be race 6 on Friday night due to start at 8.21pm (SA time) and my tip is for Poke The Bear from Box 6 to continue on his winning way. Also on the night will be the Group 1 Bold Trease for the stayers along with the Sir John Dillon Memorial and Cup Night Sprint.

FREE TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK UNTIL MURRAY BRIDGE RACING
GRSA advises with the transition from Strathalbyn to Murray Bridge to support participants from that region there will be FREE trials at ALL Angle Park trial sessions on Tuesdays & Saturdays until Murray Bridge is racing. It is still important that participants that are trialling advise staff to ensure they are on-course for their allotted timeslot.  GRSA is also looking at other ways we can assist participants in that region during this time.
