TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The highlight of tonight’s racing is the three semis of the 2019 Brian Johnstone feature over the sprint which are races 3-5 on the programme, there is certainly a huge amount of depth in all the semis, so it makes for an interesting final next Thursday. As always, all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - There looks to be several chances in this so we will go with Axel Footluce who is very smart when on song, he can be hit and miss on box rise but with early luck will prove hard to beat. Come On Enzo loves to run a place and can’t be overlooked as cant Allinga Mal who is perfectly drawn. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 2 - Wooden Tiger has trialled here in quick time but is yet to reproduce in his 2 race starts, he gets his chance tonight to break through. Right Exit will be running on as will Acka Jet out wide. Box up 2.4.5.7

Race 3 - The 1st of the semis and Kisses For Chloe is in outstanding form with 3 wins from her last 5 she is drawn to lead and is our top pick. Miss Bellwood has taken a liking to the venue with 3 wins from just her 4 starts here she is trained in Victoria and is the main danger Box Up 1.5.6.8

Race 4 - Corbett returned to the winner’s circle with a handy 30.13 run here last week, he has won in quick times in Victoria in the past and should be very competitive in this. Power Burner and Miss Breakout certainly are chances for the First Four on their recent performances. Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 5 - The 3rd of the semis and Miss Takiri jumped straight to the front and won by over 4L in 30.12, she loves a wide draw and has won 4 of her past 5 at this venue, she is our top pick. Boss McLaren won here in 29.90 from this draw 2 runs back and will be charging home and is the danger. The value runner is My Bro Rocks. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 6 - This is a wide open affair so we will stick with the 3 runners down on the fence, In The Clear is a moderate beginner, he won from box 1, 4 starts back in good time and is amongst the chances. Main Exit and Where’s Sparky are certainly chances along with Mulla Mulla Girl. Box Up 1.2.3.6

Race 7 - Firetail needs room to move early, she has won here in the past in handy time and gets her chance to win here. Flying Dutchy was a massive run here last start when charging home for an eye catching 2nd he is sure to give this a big shake. Box up 3.4.5.7

Race 8 - This is the 600m of the night and we will go with the Tony Rasmussen trained Canya Chase out in box 7, he can carve across early and hopefully take up a forward position and prove too strong in the run home. Emmy Gray has early pace and will be right in the mix along with Gemtree Dynamo. Box up 1.4.5.7.

Race 9 - In recent weeks the 731m has been very interesting and tonight shouldn’t be any different, we will stick with the Wally Harkins trained Sir Truculent  who landed the money here last week  for us at handy each way odds, he will be running on late and looks very hard to beat again. Holy Reign can lead again and if there is a ounce of trouble can pinch this. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 10 - Coorong Lucy is in outstanding form winning her last 7 in a row, she is drawn to make it 8 and is boxed to score. Star Anise has more than her fair share of ability and can’t be overlooked for the minors, add Tornado Alley for value. Box Up 1.4.6.8

Race 11 - Canya Queen has been very good to us in recent runs and she can bounce straight to the lead here and win for the Rasmussen team from box 7. Come Home is very slow early and will be powering home late to fill a place along with Winning Broke and Swift Timing. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 12 - Jan Jones is never far away from the winner’s circle and Crowdza Jumpin’ can cross these early from the wide draw and go close, she is very handy and looks well placed. Collecting has been the big improver of late and is a must for our Trifecta. Box Up 1.5.7.8
