TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

It looks a terrific night for punters as we have a strong 12 event programme, we have a mixture over the sprint and the 600m, don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First four events.

Race 1 - We tipped him last week and he charged home to win at the juicy odds of 6/1 and that was McLaren Dazzler, he steps up in grade tonight and showed more than enough that he can run through the grades.  Resolute Lee and Slippers Away are amongst the chances. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 2 - The Rasmussen kennel have a newcomer in this, Akubra Queen, so she is one to watch on debut.  Troy the Boy and the well-drawn Missing Queen are big chances and are drawn to improve, add in Bundoran who ran 2nd here last start. Box Up 1.5.7.8.

Race 3 - Cairnlea Blue is a handy youngster who has won 3 of her past 5 starts, she has early pace and looks very hard to beat again.  Dynamic Lee led throughout to win here 2 runs back in 29.98, he can be hit and miss on box rise but the rails draw should help. Box Up 1.5.7.8.

Race 4 - This looks a wide open affair and the main chances appear to be Boss McLaren, who will be doing his best work late, Cuddles Lee, who broke through here last start for a 30.12 win and has early pace. Exciting Times loves to run a place and is a must for our First Four. Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 5 - West On Tia is another newcomer to SA and is in the Troy Murray kennel, she has won 7 of 42 along with 12 placings, the ex-WA performer has handy distance form and the 600 might be a fraction short but she is a must for our Trifecta.  Kennel mate Spring Kuda has been in the money in 5 of 7 starts this trip and is the danger. Box Up 2.4.7.8

Race 6 - This looks another wide open affair with Better Dreams, who has early pace and won 2 on the trot here in good times - she is drawn to bounce back. Black Antico loves a rails draw and returned to the winners circle with a 30.12 win here 2 runs back, he is very strong and will be hard to beat. Add Here’s Dave and he’s been in the money at his last 7 starts and is very strong. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 7 - Victa Suzie looks one of the better bets of the night, she led them a merry dance here last start winning in 29.93 by over 3 Lengths, she has to lead to win.  Matty Mateusz was a nice run on debut when 2nd after finding early trouble the ex-Victorian will be the improver. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 8 - Mepunga Zeus has had a freshen up since being unplaced here last start, on his night he is very smart and from the rails draw will be the one to beat.  Yoda and Canya Connor are both worth putting in the First Four as they will be running on strongly. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 9 - The Cameron Butcher sprinter, Times Right is my top pick here. He resumed with a smart win over the short at Murray Bridge last start, has won here in the past in a slick 29.59 and is very quick early.  Come Home is in terrific form and looks the danger on his last start win here in 29.85. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 10 - The Victorian visitor, She’s Gifted has a very smart record of 20 wins and 13 placings from her 42 starts, she has won 3 of her past 5 all in B.O.N and looks to be very quick early so we will put her on top.  Alicante Bouchet had a short campaign in WA, she is well drawn and can run into the placings. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 11
- The Butcher kennel can get a double with Errington is drawn well here for a bold showing. He won here 5 runs back in good time and he loves the rails. Emerley Storm’s best form of late has been at Gawler but he will add value to our Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 12 - We end the night with a 600m and it’s very hard to go past More Run Bateman who has won his past 2 in good fashion, he gets back early but rattles over the top of them.  Dyna Alice and Coco Spectre have been racing well of late and appear place chances again. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

LICENSE RENEWALS ARE NOW DUE

Please be advised that your licence renewal is NOW DUE. We have sent out renewals to those requiring updating their licence electronically via email (please check your junk mail as well) and by post.
Please check your licence card to confirm the expiry date.
It is vital that you licence before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. As an example, it you are nominating for any race meeting in July, you would want to have renewed by tomorrow (Friday, 21st June) to guarantee no issues.
Check with owners locally and from Interstate as this has been an issue in recent years and get their licences renewed by this date.

Please contact the GRSA Integrity Department for queries or questions.

2019 GAWLER PRODUCE HEATS TOMORROW

The winner of the Final is also eligible for a $7,000 bonus if it can win the 2019 Gawler Gold Cup later this year. If the winner of the Gawler Produce is SA Bred, there is also a $1,000 SA Bred Bonus.

2019 BRISBANE CUP – NOMINATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW

MURRAY BRIDGE STRAIGHT TRACK – NO TRIALS THIS FRIDAY

The Murray Bridge straight track will be closed for the next two weeks as works commence on closing off the chute at the 300m start.

As such, there will be no trialling on the straight track tomorrow (Friday 21st June).

MURRAY BRIDGE STRAIGHT TRACK UPDATE

In the past week, GRSA has been able to mobilise contractors and has already commenced fencing work to close off the chute that facilitated the off track 300m start.

The realignment of the track fencing will be followed by concreting and irrigation works and result in the straight track being ready to conduct 350m trialling, hopefully by the end of next week.

Furthermore, Steriline Racing has now been engaged to install the crane system for the 300m start. At this stage we have a commitment from the contractor that the crane will be installed an operational within 3 weeks. Whilst GRSA is pleased that this work can occur reasonably quickly, we are cautious in committing to the start of straight track racing without having the infrastructure in place.

Whilst the feedback via the Facebook poll was positive for a proposed meeting on 3rd July meeting, management still felt it was marginal whether sufficient nominations would be received to conduct a full meeting over only the 350m distance. This will remain on the One Turn track. It is clear that to secure the maximum support for straight track racing, it is highly preferable that both starts are in operation.

GRSA will now commit to the commencement of straight track racing on Wednesday 24th July. Based on the current schedule of works, this will be from both the 300m and 350m starts. However if issues are encountered with the crane system for any reason, the 24th July meeting will proceed regardless, with racing out of the 350m start only. This will mean that Angle Park will now race on Wednesday 17th July giving them back to back meetings and swapping with Murray Bridge.

This commencement date for straight track racing has been pushed back to allow for enough trialling prior to conducting a full TAB race meeting. This will also allow for three consecutive race meetings on the straight track, with the last two meetings being the local heats and final of the SEN National Straight Track Championship series.

FUTURITY PAYMENTS DUE THIS MONTH

Owners of SA Bred greyhounds are reminded that the next batch of Futurity payments are due on Friday, 28th June 2019.

There will be three series’ for which payments will need to be made.

The payments due are:

Classic 2019 – Final Payment - Pups Born July 17 to Dec 17
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first two Sustaining Payments have been made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.

Breeders 2020 – Second Payment - Pups Born Jan 18 to June 18
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first Sustaining Payment was made last December. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.

Classic 2020 – First Payment - Pups Born July 18 to Dec 18
The First Payment is due for Classic 2020. All SA Bred greyhounds born in the above period are eligible to make this payment. The First Payment is $27.50 per pup or a “one-off” Final payment of $121 can be made at this stage.

To assist all owners of Futurity eligible pups, reminders have been sent out earlier this week. It is perhaps a good idea to make the payment as soon as you can, so it doesn’t slip your mind and the closing date passes.
If you have sold a pup/s we would ask if you can either forward on the information or let Caralyn Fielden know at GRSA and she can follow it up. If you haven’t received a reminder by the end of this week and you think you should have, contact us asap.
