TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We need to back a few winners here at headquarters tonight and I’m very confident with a couple that can fatten our wallets. I would like to wish all participants a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a safe NEW YEAR. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - I like one in this at each way odds Shimando, he has been struggling of late but is more than capable of turning things around. Rachel Zane and Merindah will be right in the finish. Box Up 2.3.5.7.

Race 2 - This is the 1st of the Maidens and we will go with the Rasmussen trained Quara’s Yoshi, he has early pace and can lead this for a long way. Closing Midnight will be doing her best work late and is a must for the trifecta. Box Up 2.3.6.7.

Race 3  - There are several 1st starters in this so we will go with Feelin’ who is having her 10th career start, she has been placed on 3 occasions and can figure again. Mookie Sox and Springvale Misty for the minors. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 4 - We have to go with the flying Tauwitchere in this, she has won 5 of 6 and was placed behind her kennel mate Fabwik here last week in  29.51, she is a class act so put all of your Christmas stash on her. Alfieri and Got My Way for the minors. Box 6 from 1.4.8

Race 5 - The 2 main chances in this are Spring Kuda and Max Dream, both have been racing very well of late and are boxed to run big races. Wynburn Lucifer is knocking on the door and will be rattling home late. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 6 - How good is this event the Xmas Sprint, all 6 runners stake their claim and I will go with Nations who can lead or come from behind. Fabwik has won her last 5 here and has a terrific turn of foot early, she should start the punters elect. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 - Spring Double and Sway Bars appear the main chances in this, they have both drawn very awkwardly but their class is a huge bonus. Just Did It has the perfect draw and will be kicking up early so he appears the value runner. Box Up 1.5.6.8

Race 8  - Shima Mart looks a good thing in this on his recent runs here in SA, he has been runner up behind kennel mate Cawbourne Swade in very quick times and will find this more to his liking and is drawn to win. Born Billy can figure along with Dyna Maple. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 9 - This is the distance affair of the night and Cairnlea Jet is the inform performer, he beat a very similar field here last week and should do the same again tonight. Jeebus Bird has been in the money in 12 of his 13 starts over this trip and should do the same again tonight. Box Up 1.3.5.7

Race 10 – Let’s go home on a winner with Jazzy Footluce down in box 1, she has been racing well in tougher company and gets a chance to break through from a good draw. Querencia will start the punters elect and won at Gawler last start in BON 31.39, he can be hit and miss early but looks to have a very promising future. Box Up 1.5.6.7

ANGLE PARK THURSDAY– NOMINATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW

Nominations for Angle Park Thursday (27/12) close at 9.00am tomorrow (Friday 21st  December).

KATE’S A SCANDAL XMAS SPRINT TONIGHT

The highlight on tonight’s 10 event program at Angle Park will be the 2018 Kate’s A Scandal Xmas Sprint featuring a top line up of sprinters which will be race 6 at 8.24pm. Only a small field of 6 are greeting the starter, but what a line up with last start Doug Payne winner Fabwik leading the way. She takes on open company stars Honcho Monelli and Nations along with rising open grade speedsters Cawbourne Swade and Cairnlea Strider with Adelaide Cup finalist Larrikin Locky making up the elite 6. They will all be doing battle in the final feature before the New Year Year. There will be a rug and trophy presentation after the race so good luck to all connections.

CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR TRAINERS TONIGHT

As part of the Christmas spirit GRSA will provide a bottle of wine to our trainers who have greyhounds engaged tonight when they collect their Trainers fee. It’s a choice of red or white however when one is gone then the other will be provided so get in early to make your choice.

VALE LEN WILSON

GRSA was saddened by the news that Len Wilson passed away last Friday. Len was a superb conditioner of dogs and was a good supporter of our Clubs as evidenced by his volunteering over the years. He helped many people, both within the industry and also the show industry. He had also been an administrator at Port Pirie Greyhound Club for a number of years.

He will be greatly missed by both greyhound owners and trainers alike. GRSA will recognise him in the first race tonight by our participants wearing black armbands.

PRIZEMONEY PAYMENTS OVER CHRISTMAS

Due to both Tuesday (25/12) and Wednesday (26/12) being public holidays the prizemoney payments which are normally processed on Wednesdays will be done on Thursday (27/12) due to the shorter week. The cut off for that pay run will be the Sunday meetings on 23rd December

GAWLER TRIALS NEXT WEEK
Please note due to the change in schedule with Murray Bridge now on the racing calendar that the Gawler trials next Monday 24/12 will start at 9am due to time in the morning required to prepare that track as there is no racing on the Sunday night. This will continue in the future. On the Thursday 27/12 Gawler trials will start at 8am due to the public holidays and racing in the morning on Boxing Day. Again this is due to allowing enough time to get the track prepared.

SHIMA BREEZE IN GROUP 2 LAURELS FINAL TONIGHT

Good luck to Shima Breeze in the Group 2 Laurels final tonight at Sandown. She was a brilliant winner of her semi final and looks a top chance for team Rasmussen. She is engaged in Race 6 no 5 due to start at 8.20pm SA time and we wish her the best of luck.

SENNACHIE IN SILVER CHIEF HEATS ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Good luck to Sennachie in the Group 1 Silver Chief heats at the Meadows on Saturday night. He has been sent from the Kirin Corby kennels to Steve White in Victoria for this series. He is undefeated in all 3 starts but comes up against a quality line up. He is engaged in Race 9 no 7 due to start at 9.28pm SA time and we wish him the best of luck.

NO TRIALS ON BOXING DAY AT ANGLE PARK

Due to staffing issues there will be NO trials at Angle Park on Wednesday night 26th December (Boxing Day).

GAWLER NOW A MORNING MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 26TH DECEMBER DUE TO HEAT FORECAST

With excessive heat forecast in the Gawler region on Wednesday 26th December 2018 the Gawler meeting scheduled for the Day time slot will move to the Morning slot starting around 10.00am local time. GRSA thanks the support of the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club and Sky Racing for this change.

The first of 10 races will be at 9.57pm with the last at 12.49pm. Kenneling will be from 8.30am to 9.15am.

GOLDEN MAIDEN AT GAWLER THIS SUNDAY
