TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

I hope you all followed last week as we had a very good night on the punt with several winners and trifectas, tonight should be no different as there appears to be a couple of good things throughout the evening. Don’t forget all races are Trifectas and First Fours.

Race 1 - it’s a handy one to kick off with as there are several chances, Sarina Monelli can give this a big shake if she can stay out of trouble early, she won from this draw 2 starts back in good time and is amongst the main chances, Aston Hodge and Agent Thirteen for the placings. Box Up 4.5.6.7.

Race 2 - with only the 5 runners we will go with Alter Ego who has been placed at 5 of her 11 starts, she should be running on well; Spring Rodney will appreciate the small field as will Eedee Keepsake who is from a very handy litter. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 3 - there is a bit of early pace in this and the well-drawn Launching should go very close from his rails draw on his recent efforts, Jackie Dee is another who has early dash from the boxes and is a must for the First Four add Spring Kudu and Karaoke Party. Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 4 - the Gregory Board sprinter Spring Sniper has been racing very well over the short with wins at Strathalbyn and Gawler he looks well placed in this, Just Ruby has been in form and can’t be overlooked. Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 5 - the Kirin Corby kennel rarely has an ordinary dog in her kennels and she looks to have another handy one with Tauwitchere, she won on debut in 29.91 from box 7 and should only improve again tonight, Max Pick is another handy youngster who has won his past couple here and will be one to follow in the future. Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 6 - this is one of the better bets of the night and that is Lenny The Jet down in box 1, he carved out a slick 29.77 run here last start from this draw and should do the same again tonight Max Cobra and Madam Onyx can run into the placings. Box Up 1.2.6.7.

Race 7 - this is a wide-open affair, so we will make Data Queen our roughie of the night, she has a good turn of early pace and can handle a wide draw, Blessed Is Black has been ultra-consistent of late and is a must for our Trifecta. Box Up 1.4.5.7.

Race 8 - Nations has his draw and as we all know when in front he can carve out very quick times and should take a power of beating, Rachel Zane can improve and should be at reasonable odds, so we will put her in the mix along with the pacey Larrikin Locky. Box Up 1.2.5.6.

Race 9 - the Ben Rawlings trained Alicante Bouchet missed the kick last start at Gawler when unplaced, she won from this draw here 5 starts back and will prove hard to beat in this, Gemtree Dynamo and Nut Allergy can run cheeky races and are well in the mix. Box Up 2.5.6.7.

Race 10 - this is the distance event of the night and it’s very hard to go past the inform Cairnlea Jet out in box 8, he carved out a very smart 43.17 here last week and looks the measuring stick once again, Jeebus Bird is knocking on the door and will be in the finish. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 11 - we have done it in the last 2 weeks and that is, we go home on a winner, and tonight I like Dyna Adria who was a very good 2nd behind Matriculate in 29.94 from box 5, she should be able to lead here tonight and score, Run Rosie is a veteran here of 88 starts and loves this draw she will be rattling home late. Box Up 1.2.3.6.

FREE TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK UNTIL MURRAY BRIDGE RACING

GRSA advises with the transition from Strathalbyn to Murray Bridge to support participants from that region it will be FREE trials at ALL Angle Park trial sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays until Murray Bridge is racing.

It is still important that participants that are trialling advise staff to ensure they are oncourse for their allotted timeslot.

GRSA is also looking at other ways we can assist participants in that region during this time.

MURRAY BRIDGE RACING DATES – FIRST MEETING ON DECEMBER 19

The racing dates for SA greyhounds for the remainder of the 2018/2019 season including Murray Bridge have been released.

Whilst all dates are subsequent to change it is anticipated that the first Murray Bridge meeting will be run on Wednesday, 19th December 2018 meaning that our local schedule will change.  All meetings at Murray Bridge initially will be on the One Turn track with the Straight track anticipated to have its first meeting on Wednesday, 13th February 2019.
GRSA will look to trial at Murray Bridge for about one month and conduct at least one Picnic meeting (Non-TAB) to ensure everything at the venue is working prior to our first meeting on the 19th December.

GRSA appreciates the feedback from participants regarding trialling under the new schedule and would welcome any more feedback before this is reviewed and a trial schedule is released.
A full list of Racing Dates for the 2018/2019 season have been included in Kennel Capers and on the website along with an updated version of the Angle Park and Gawler feature dates which have changed based on the new schedule of racing.

LEIGH ROGERS GRADE 6 FEATURE

Tonight we see 6 heats of the Leigh Rogers Grade 6 feature run over the 515m journey with the $10,710 final on next Thursday, 8th November.

GRSA introduced this new race onto the feature race calendar last year in recognition of former long time Food and Beverage Manager, Leigh Rogers, who lost his battle with a rare form of cancer two years ago. Leigh is the husband of Rachael and father of three young girls and it will be great to see them oncourse in recognition of Leigh.

GAP RACE NIGHT

Tonight is also GAP night oncourse!

As part of the night there will be two GAP parades for the rehomed greyhounds, the first between races 1 and 2 with the second between races 5 and 6, this is always a great addition to the night.  There will also be a presentation to the winner of race 8 the Free For All, and a raffle being run by GAP to be won on the night.  So pleasure make sure you grab a ticket.

PORT AUGUSTA ON MELBOURNE CUP DAY

The Port Augusta Greyhound Racing Club will again have a Non-TAB meeting on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 6th November.

In 2019 we will again be offering additional incentives for trainers to nominate. A bonus will be offered to any greyhound which can win both the Produce Stake and the Gawler Gold Cup. The jackpot will increase from $6,000 to $7,000 as Panhandle Slim did not take part in the Gawler Gold Cup.

The dates for this series will be Heats on Friday, 21st June 2019, Semi Finals on Friday, 28th June 2019 and the Final on Sunday, 7th July 2019 with a $2,700 consolation event.
