Angle Park Preview - Thursday 1st August
Telling the Tail by the Shadow
Race 1 is a very even affair, it looks to be between Victa Victoria and Life’s Cool. Victa Victoria can be hit and miss but can bounce back from a last start defeat. The pacey Life’s Cool looks the likely leader. Spiral Bound will be rattling home late, add in Dyna Alivia for the pick 4. If you are looking for a roughy add Morabito into the mix. Box up 1-4-5-6-8.
Race 2, this one is a good thing, Pandora Kist. She is in outstanding form of late and should kick up and lead from box 2. Galaxy Snow has been racing well and will be right in this. Emerley Zodiak will be making good late ground and is a must for trifecta punters despite the wide draw. Box up 2-3-4-6.
The first of the National Distance heats, and it would be a brave man to tip against Kalden Mayhem. He continues to win but only just does enough. Cousin Callum is another who mixes his form but should fill a place. Uno Lesson will be running on strongly and a win wouldn’t surprise. Box up 2-3-6-7.
Race 4 is very open and the punters elect will be Flying Tee from box 6. He has early pace but will struggle to cross and appears a risk for mine. I have gone with Kalden Mischief who can kick up on the fence. Young Snozz will be rattling home late so look for him late. Box Up 2-3-6-8.
Another heat of the Distance is race 5 and the box draw tips Dyna Daina for Shaun Matcott. She has been racing well and her early pace will be a big help. Miss Woods has had a short let up and will give this a big shake along with Sheza Ten who could be the one at eachway odds. Box Up 1-6-7-8.
Race 6 is the second heat of the sprint and all runners have drawn their right boxes. This is a very open affair and looks to be a very good race to have a trifecta or pick 4. The inside brigade 1-2 & 3 are the main chances, then look out to box 8. It is very hard to select the winner and I have left this one out of all selections and that is Fire Tyson in box 5. Box the field, Good Luck!!! Box up 1-2-3-8, add the 5.
Race 7 and Hope’s Up is in outstanding form and she loves a wide draw. She is coming off a last start BON 29.89 win here last week. Add in Kalden Komoto who is in fine form along with Springvale Cool. My eachway chance for the event is Tercel who can pinch this if there is trouble early. Box Up 1-6-7-8.
In race 8 Just Shine is a top class performer and has by passed the National Sprint heats and opted to run in a mixed grade event so tonight he should prove far too strong here. Sometimes Speedy is no slouch along with Victa Brooke. Box up 1-5-6-8.
The 600m event is a terrific one and the book ends appear the main chances, Fair Change and Jet Blast. Donald Turner has a handy one in Sneaky Spirit who does handle a middle draw. That is my tip, he is strong and has a good turn of early pace. Box up 1-5-6-8.
Yasi Girl in race 10 returned to form with a good win here last start from box 6, her early pace will make her the one to beat here from the rails draw. There are several dangers but all lack early pace and will be running on late. Box Up 1-2-3-7.
Let’s go home on a winner and in the final event I like the Ken Myers trained Remember Cestria who has drawn the red and should kick up and hold the lead. There are a couple for the trifecta punters in Oh So Fast and Jetson Kist who both will be running on. Fiery McBain is more than capable despite his wide draw of 6. He could be the smokey at eachway odds. Box up 1-4-5-6.
Happy Punting Good Luck

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS
2013 NATIONAL SPRINT AND DISTANCE SA HEATS
Tonight will see the running of the SA State Heats of the National Sprint Championship and the National Distance Championship. We have three Sprint heats and two Distance heats on tonight’s program. Twenty six greyhounds remained at box draw time for the Sprint and sixteen for the Distance.
In the Sprint heats there looks to be plenty of depth and with only the first two from each heat and the two fastest thirds qualifying for the final the racing will be tight and competitive.
In the first heat (Race 4 – 7.44pm SA time) the impressive Flying Tee will be looking to bounce back to form after no luck last start. He has taken all before him particularly at Gawler for trainer Ossie Chegia and has the brilliance to offset box 6. His main challengers look to be the Troy Murray combination of Emerley Lover and Kalden Mischief along with Young Snozz and Victa Sam.
The second heat (Race 6 – 8.28pm SA time) features the clash between Encosta Kahn, Kalden Kurageous and Fire Tyson which is sure to be a highlight on tonights program. All are in super form and a touch of luck in running will probably determine who wins or not. Ali The Great, Wonder Whirl and Contrarian have to also be respected.
The third heat (Race 7 – 8.52pm) has the big three drawing 6,7 & 8 with Tercel, Hope’s Up and Kalden Komoto all boxed off the track. The start will be very important here however with both Avid Tyson (4) and Red Tin (5) drawn the middle and have explosive speed from boxes this may help them come across from wide on the track.
The Distance heats are races 3 (7.25pm SA time) and 5 (8.08pm SA time) on tonights program and should also provide some exciting chasing. The first four from each heat will go into next weeks final and its terrific news that we have enough stayers to run two heats after only having one heat last year.
Troy Murray’s star chaser Kalden Mayhem is back again for another tilt at National glory. Two years ago he won the State final and then was brilliant in running third in the National final however last year he was just collared on the line by Abdon Bale in the State series and missed his chance. Tonight he does look the one to beat in the first heat however the likes of Cousin Callum, Uno Lesson and Dyna Aline cannot be overlooked.
In the second heat Dyna Daina has drawn perfectly in the red box and should lead for a very long way. A talented type, Shaun Matcott has this one flying at the moment. Miss Woods and Sheza Ten look the best of the rest.
Next week’s SA State Finals will carry prizemoney of $6,875 for the Sprint and $7,450 for the Distance due to GRSA’s commitment to paying unplaced money in staying events. The winners share will be $5,000 for each race, plus there is a travel support payment. The box draws for the finals will take place on track tonight. The Sprint final after race eight and the Distance final after race six.
The National finals supported by the Victorian Government will both be run at the Meadows in Victoria on Saturday 24th August. Each of the Group 1 finals has a winner’s cheque of $75,000.
