TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

Tonight’s racing here at headquarters is over all 3 main distances and as always there is some terrific talent spread throughout the evening, we should be all cashed up after last Friday night and there look to be a couple of good things on the 10-event card. Trifecta s and First Fours are on all races and the kennel to follow is the Rasmussen team, they should go home with several winners.

Race 1 - Crash Bandicoot can kick start the night for the Rasmussen team, he was 4th here last week behind Road Travelled, he is very smart when on the lure and should go very close. Star Anise is in fine form and looks the danger, add Diamond Heart for value. Box Up 1.4.7.8.

Race 2 - This is the Maiden event of the night and Billie Burner is working towards a win, she was checked out of the run here last start and led everywhere bar the line at her previous run, she can lead and win here. Right Exit and the newcomer Love First are place chances. Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 3 - The Steve Brooks kennel is on fire and they look to have another handy type in Castle Ruins, he won here last start in 30.09 in a very strong performance so we will put him on top. Double Attitude has been placed in 4 of his last 5 runs and is a must for our Trifecta. Box Up 2.4.7.8

Race 4 - Last week’s Premiers Cup winner Five Thirty looks the measuring stick in this, she is in fine form and the small field suits. Stitch Em’ Cilla has the pace to lead and is more than capable of pinching this if there was trouble so she can’t be left out of calculations along with Max Jake at odds. Box Up 2.4.7.8

Race 5 - This is the 600m event of the night and Alpha Aion has a perfect record of 3 from 3 over the 600m and is drawn for a bold showing. Whata Key is very smart when on the lure as is Unique Edition who has hasn’t missed a cheque in 6 runs over this trip. Box Up 1.2.3.6

Race 6 - Axel Footluce will find this a lot easier than his recent runs, he has been missing the kick of late and needs to improve his box manners but if he steps he is very smart. Eedee Keepsake has won her past 2 here, she is definitely worth putting in the First Four along with Blazing Major at big odds who is capable of causing a boil over. Box up 2.5.6.7

Race 7 - This is a good even event with several chances, we will stick with Allinga Mal down in box 1 as he has the pace to kick up and lead, he has handy Gawler form and will give this a shake. Spring Taylor will be charging home late along with American Man who will be tracking wide. Box up 1.2.6.8

Race 8 - I have tipped the Rasmussen kennel to have a big night and they can win here with Cawbourne Hunter, he has been placed in a lot tougher company in recent weeks in the Adelaide Cup series, he is drawn to run a bold race. Kennel mate Superstar Chase is the danger in box 5 he has early dash and is racing well and is a must for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 9 - Cawbourne Terry looks the best bet of the night, he has only had the 2 runs here in SA with a 2nd behind Spring Bridge and then finished down the track in the Cup Final behind Hooked On Scotch, he is right down in grade tonight and should win. Mr. Mufasa looks to be a handy youngster and can run into the placings along with Troy The Boy. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 10 - It would be nice to go home on a winner again and let’s hope Billy Fix It can bounce back into the winners circle, he found a heap of trouble here last start when unplaced, he was racing well prior and is amongst the main chances. Cawbourne Clint and Spring Glass can fill the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.5

GAWLER SATISFACTORY AND QUALIFYING TRIALS

A reminder to trainers that Satisfactory trials and Qualifying trials are conducted at Gawler on Thursday mornings weekly.

WINNING GRADE 6 RACES IN ORDER

GRSA reminds trainers to win their grade 6 events in order at a specific venue. For the venues that allow two Grade 6 wins trainers need to win a Grade 6 over one distance and then a Grade 6 over the other distance. If a greyhound wins a Grade 6 and then a Grade 5 then they will lose their Grade 6 over the other distance at that venue.

GRADING CHANGES FROM GRADING REVIEW PANEL HAVE STARTED

The main change from the GRP was that when a greyhound comes to SA and has won less than 5 races (1-4 wins) then it will be considered a Grade 6 even if it has won Grade 5 races (Metropolitan Grade 5 races (460m – 590m) in their State, however, this will affect Grade 6). There will be no retrospective grading for greyhounds already in SA with a starting date of the 9th September.

MOUNT GAMBIER TIME GRADING TO BE A MIX OF WINS FROM OCTOBER

After a request from the Mt Gambier GRC to change the format of their Time Grading events, GRSA has approved the change for their Thursday meetings from specific grades to a mix of race wins.

From their meeting on Thursday, 3rd October and all other Time Graded meetings races will be Maidens, 1-4 wins and 5+ wins which will change from Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5.

Races will still be Non Penalty, with normal Time Graded prizemoney.

For Middle Distance (600m) and Distance (732m) racing, the GRSA Grader (using discretion), may choose to construct a field over these distances without regard for the number of wins of the greyhounds nominated, if in the opinion of the Grader the spread of Time Ratings warrants the running of that race.

NEW TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP FORM INCLUDES PROOF OF PURCHASE

Participants are advised that as from 1st September, 2019 a new Transfer of Ownership Form is to be completed if wanting to seek grading exemptions.

The new Form has a Proof of Purchase section, this requires purchasers to lodge documentation confirming the purchase of the greyhound or if no documentation is available then it is a requirement for the Statutory Declaration to be completed.  If a Transfer of Ownership Form is lodged without the completion of this section then NO grading exemptions will be applied to the greyhound.  The form is available on our website.
