TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We have 3 terrific heats of the Howard Ashton sprint and there is certainly a lot of quality amongst those races, add a quality 600 event to kick the night off with and a distance event affair later in the evening on a 12 event programme, the kennel to follow is the Kirin Corby team as she looks to have some very strong chances throughout the night.

Race 1 - It’s a very handy event to kick the night off with the 2 main chances look to be Come Home and Master Chaos, both are last start winners here and are very strong Fled can add value to the Trifecta and is a chance at big odds. Box up 1.4.5.8.

Race 2 - This is the maiden event of the night and I like the book ends, Fly For Fun and Dashing Dixon both finished in the placings here last week and are drawn to break through, Dashing Mickey is very tardy early and should be making good late ground. Box Up 1.5.7.8.

Race 3 - The Rasmussen kennel rarely leaves the track without a winner and they should salute here with the inform Canya Chase in box 5 he carved out a slick B.O.N. run of 29.63 here last week and should prove the one to beat again, Dynamic Lee is well boxed and can run into the placings along with Sweet Ella. Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 4 - Crowdza Jumpin” led everywhere bar the winning post here last week when a nose 2nd in 29.97 from this draw she is very quick early and looks the one to catch, Galactic Athena is a very smart type and is making her debut here at Headquarters she has only had the 9 starts with 5 wins and 3 placings including saluting in the Mount Gambier Cup Final. Box up 2.5.7.8.

Race 5 - Times Right proved far to strong here last start when winning in a smart 29.86 from box 1 he has the pace to cross and looks the measuring stick again, the old fella in Honcho Monelli is on the rails but would need to be at his best as he is better suited when drawn wider but he is a champ and can never be overlooked. Box Up 1.4.7.8.

Race 6 - The Kirin Corby youngster Querencia returned to form with a 7 length win over the short in a slick 22.01, she has won here previously in 29.67 and should be far to strong in this, Premier Double and Oakvale Thrill can fill the placings. Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 7 - With the scratching of Alfieri, Errington and Victorian visitor Rock It Fernando will be looking good to make up the quinella! Box Up 2.3.7

Race 8 - I like one in this at very good odds in Oakvale Beauty, she has only had the 3 starts and won here last week in 30.09 from a rails draw she looks to have a handy future, Allinga Mal found a heap of trouble here last start but was on fire previously so he is the big danger along with Bailey Rocks. Box Up 1.2.3.8.

Race 9 - Saldana led throughout here to win the distance Final last week from this draw band can do the same again she is in fine form and drawn for a bold showing, Coco Spectre has been in the placings in 3 of her 5 runs over the journey and can figure again in the trifecta along with Max Jake who can pinch a place. Box Up 1.5.7.8

Race 10 - There is a lot of early pace in this so we have to go with Slippers Time down in box 1 she led here last start only to be run down late by Aston Groucho and the same duo look the testing material again, add Gemtree Dynamo out wide and Sally’s Girl for value. Box Up 1.2.5.7.

Race 11 - Private Nangar can improve on his last start 5th here after striking early trouble he can be awkward early but is very strong, Larrikin Locky can ping the lids on his night and wouldn’t surprise if he pinched this at each way odds. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 12 - The Lisa Rasmussen team can send us home on a winner with Diamond Heart who has been racing well at Murray Bridge with 2 wins on the trot she is drawn to salute, Yoda and Born Billy can run into the placings. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

MOUNT GAMBIER TO RACE EVERY THURSDAY AND SUNDAY

Mount Gambier are now racing every Thursday with the introduction of the G-SIX racing. They will now race twice a week during a 3 month trial on Thursdays and Sundays.

G-SIX RACING HAS COMMENCED

G-SIX racing has kicked off with its 3 month trial with Angle Park, Gawler and Mount Gambier all racing under those conditions.

G-SIX offers more racing at more meetings, cleaner racing with less interference as there are only 6 greyhounds per event, Stakemoney increases to owners and trainers worth more than $1,000,000 and a consistent weekly schedule at our venues.

There will be some exceptions to the G-SIX for feature races with specific feature events not under the G-SIX conditions like the Group 3 Howard Ashton for example.

Participants are encouraged to check the racing calendar for G-SIX events and scheduling and ensure they are aware of the conditions during the 3 month trial.

G-SIX MIXING OF GRADES DURING TRIAL PERIOD

During the trial period of G-SIX the mixing of grades will have to slightly change.

For example, normally if we have three Grade 4’s and 10 Grade 5’s (total 13 dogs) the Grader will grade an 8 dog Grade 5 and a 5 dog mixed 4/5. Under G-SIX conditions the Grader will grade a six dog Grade 5 and a six dog mixed 4/5 with one common reserve.
