TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We certainly have a good mixture of racing tonight over all 3 distances, the Distance affair race 4 on the programme has several chances so it makes for a good betting race, we have a very strong 600m later in the night (race 8) and that is where we will have a crack at the First Four as there is value. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Fantastic Yankee found a heap of trouble in the Sprint Final here last start, he is very smart and can run a bold race once again. Diamond Heart and Slipper’s Away for the minors. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 2 - The Cameron Butcher kennel looks to have a handy one in Coorong Lucy, she made good ground on her debut here last week and can break through tonight. Hot Spartan is working towards a win as is Hot Fernando. Box up 2.4.7.8

Race 3 - Personality jumped straight to the front here last week and went on to score in 30.29, she has moderate beginners on her inside and looks the likely leader again. Dashing Mickey will be running on late as will Holy Reign, we can’t leave out my roughie of the night Nero Shiraz, he loves this draw and should be double figures in the betting.  Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 4 - As mentioned earlier this is the distance affair of the night and we will go with Ethics, she was very unlucky here 2 runs back when 2nd then returned to form with a smart win at Mount Gambier over the journey, with a little luck early she will prove hard to beat. More Rum Bateman will be rattling home late and cant be left out as cant Equilibrium who will improve. Box up 1.2.4.5

Race 5 - The two main chances here look to be Dyna Carnie down in box 2 and Alpha Aion out in the 7, both have early pace and should be right up on the pace early. Chaddy Whacker is well drawn and can add some value to our Trifecta. Box up 1.2.3.7

Race 6 - Victa Caleb is going to find this a lot easier than his past couple in top grade he drops right back in grade tonight and should lead and win from his rails draw. Spring Taylor loves to run a place and will be the one flying home late. Add Errington who can pinch a place. Box up 1.3.4.6

Race 7 - I like the inside 3 in this, they all have been racing well of late, Come Home will be running on and with early luck can be right in the finish. Swift Timing is my pick as she has the early pace and was a nice winner over the short last start. Yoda is very strong and rarely misses a cheque. Box Up 1.2.3.6

Race 8 - How good is this 600m event and there definitely are several chances, the main 3 look to be Whata Key who led throughout here last run for a strong win in 35.45, he is well drawn and can push up early. Matty Mateusz has won 3 of his past 4 over this trip, he can handle the middle draw and will be hard to toss again. Miss Breakout is yet to miss a place over the 600m and is another who has early pace, add West On Bamboo for our First Four. Box Up 2.4.5.7

Race 9 - We will stick with our money as I tipped Crash Bandicoot last start when he finished 3rd after stumbling early, he can bounce back tonight from his draw of 1. Spring Cuervo is returning from a Darwin Cup campaign and if on song will be right in the finish, add No Passengers for value. Box Up 1.2.6.8

Race 10 - Yarindale could make it a very good night for the Butcher kennel if he salutes, he won from this draw 2 runs back in 30.04 and looks very hard to beat again. Predecssor is making her Angle Park debut and her form in Melbourne has been over more ground, she is definitely one to watch. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race  11 - The 2 main chances look to be the inform Phosphenes who is in outstanding form over the short with 5 wins on the trot and Cawbourne Clint who loves a wide draw and can cross early and win both look to the Quinella for mine. Minnie Mac and Joshua Rocks for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 12 - On a huge night of racing and we can get the chocolates with Mental Lee, she is a lot better than her past couple suggests and can return to the winner’s circle tonight. Spring Fair and Long Gully Terry for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.6

GAWLER CLASSIC 2019 IN LATE AUGUST

GRSA has brought forward the Gawler Classic series to be run prior to the Group 3 Finals of each series to encourage support.

Generally these series’ are not well supported after the two Preludes at Angle Park and the Group 3 Final. The Gawler Classic from 2019 will be run at the end of this month. See details below -

Heats Gawler Classic 2019 – 531m (SA Bred Greyhounds paid up for Classic 2019. Final Friday 6/9/19) Not G-Six

·         Nominations for the Heats close at 9am on Monday, 26th August

KINGS AND QUEENS FEATURE LATER THIS MONTH

Again this year GRSA will conduct the Kings and Queens Feature series with Heats on Thursday, 29th August and a $7,500 Final on Thursday, 5th September in continued support of any greyhound affected by the change to the GCA Age Restricted Classics change a few years ago.

The eligibility for this series is for dogs and bitches whelped between 1st March 2017 and 31st May 2017. Performed Maidens are eligible (raced or qualy trialled).

It will be dependent upon nominations, however, we would like to run a dogs Heat and a bitches Heat separately with greyhounds qualifying into the Final. If there are not sufficient nominations for either sex then these Heats may be mixed as a one off Heat into a Final or a couple of mixed Heats. Special conditions apply, however, these races will be non-penalty.

• Nominations close Monday, 26th August at 9.00am with GRSA.

NEW TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP FORM TO INCLUDE PROOF OF PURCHASE

Participants are advised that as from 1st September 2019 a new Transfer of Ownership Form is to be completed if wanting to seek grading exemptions.

The new Form has a Proof of Purchase section, this requires purchasers to lodge documentation confirming the purchase of the greyhound or if no documentation is available then it is a requirement for the Statutory Declaration to be completed.  If a Transfer of Ownership Form is lodged without the completion of this section then NO grading exemptions will be applied to the greyhound.  The form is available on our website and is also included in this edition of Kennel Capers.

TRIALLING AT MURRAY BRIDGE AT RACE MEETINGS

For trials at Race meetings when available (less than 12 races) at Murray Bridge when it is a One turn meeting we will only have the One turn trials available in between kennelling and the first race. Similar for the Straight track it will only be Straight track trials.

GAWLER SHOW DATES AND CHANGES

August means that it is coming up to Gawler Show time, so some Gawler meetings will be transferred to Angle Park this year.

This year the Annual Gawler Show will be held on the weekend of Saturday, 24th and Sunday, 25th August. Racing on Friday, 23rd August will be at Angle Park on the Finish On Lure (as there are finals on this program from heats on Wednesday 14th August this meeting will also be a Finish On Lure meeting). Racing on Tuesday, 27th August will be at Angle Park and will be raced with the Finish On Lure. Both meetings will carry the normal prizemoney for both these days and will be considered APD Provincial 2 for grading

Trials will be cancelled at Gawler on Thursday, 22nd August due to Show preparations. We will hopefully have the track ready to trial again on Thursday, 29th August, but this will be dependent on the weather over the show weekend. There will be trials at Angle Park on Wednesday, 21st August and on Saturday, 24th August.
