TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We had a pretty good night on the punt here last Thursday so let’s hope we can do the same again tonight, I like a couple throughout the night at each way odds which should add some value to our Trifectas and First Fours.

Race 1 - The Murray kennel have been firing so we will kick the night off with Swift Timing down in box 1, she led everywhere bar the winning post here last week and should go very close in this. Legendary Lao is more than capable with early luck and appears the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 2 - This is the first of the two Maidens and Emmy Gray is knocking on the door out in box 8, she has the early pace to lead and can hopefully pinch this. Spring Brigade found a heap of trouble here last start and is the improver along with Fantastic Arlo. Box Up 1.4.5.8.

Race 3 - Corbett was a good honest run here last week when 3rd behind Red Railer, he should be able to kick up early and is my top pick. Resolute Lee is stepping up to the 515m, he has handy short course form and is worth putting in the Trifectas. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 4 - Cawbourne Swade found his kennel mate Shimando too strong here last time when 2nd in 29.88, he is very smart when on song and looks the measuring stick in this. Shimando was unplaced at the Meadows last start but will find this more to his liking, add Windmill Haze for our First Four for a bit of value. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 5 - This looks a wide open affair and we will go with the newcomer in Fantastic Axel out in box 6, he has 5 wins from 18 starts along with 4 placings, he was placed at Wentworth Park early in February and is sure to be well tried on debut. Spring Taylor has been racing well and the inside draw should be a plus, add the pacey Jack Get Back for the placings. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 6 - Love Made Me can bring up a double for the Murray kennel, she has been in the placings in recent runs and looks a big chance from the rails draw. Ritzy Chicki is in good form and can run another cheeky race along with Data Queen who is the value runner for our Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 7 - This is a terrific 600m affair and it makes for a good betting race. Max Jake should start the punters elect on his recent form over this trip, he carved out a slick 34.93 win here 3 runs back and has a terrific record at this venue over this trip. Unmistakable was very impressive at his 1st start for the new kennel when winning by over 8 Lengths in a quality 35.04 and should be further improved, add Destini Rocket who has been very good to us in recent weeks. Box Up 2.5.7.8.

Race 8 - Larrikin Locky has been VERY CLOSE in recent runs and he can lead and win here tonight at each way odds, he has early pace and should zip across and hopefully hold on to score. Blastoise will be working home well along with Go Brandi. Box Up 2.6.7.8.

Race 9 - The distance affair of the night and with only the 5 runners it makes it very interesting, I will stick with Cairnlea Jet who has had a little freshen up for the Jovanovic kennel, he is very smart when on the lure and is more than capable when on song. Nations will come out running and continues to win in quick times. Ethics and Phil’s Green love this trip and cant be overlooked. Box Up all the evens 2.4.6.8.

Race 10 - I like one here at good odds in Firestone Alley for the Jessup kennel, he sprouted wings here at his latest run to finish a very close 2nd behind Gus The Weapon from a wide draw from the rails draw he can be handy early and go very close. Victa Suzie should be the improver along with Ebby Lamar and Zoltan. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

RED ROCK & HONCHO MONELLI BIG MOVERS FOR “THE SA EASTAR”

Newly crowned SA Greyhound of the Year Honcho Monelli for trainer Tony Rasmussen showed he is still a force to be reckoned with after his brilliant performance last Thursday night at headquarters. He sizzled around the Angle Park loam sweeping home in a brilliant 29.64 over the 515m. He moved up 12 placings to now sit 7th on the order of entry into the “Eastar” Match Race series on Thursday 18th April. He is racing this Sunday night at Murray Bridge with the Anniversary Cup series later this month and then the “Eastar” the likely targets for the champion before he retires.
