Angle Park Preview - Thursday 14th June 2018
by The Shadow
With another 12 events on the programme here at headquarters we certainly have a good chance to recoup a few dollars after the long weekend, the highlight must be the AGRC/GRSA Auction Final worth $11,500 to the winner on offer. Add in a high quality 731m event and a top class open event over the sprint.
Race 1 - In recent weeks the Rasmussen kennel tends to get multiple winners and they can kick off with one tonight in Dyna Soren from box 2, he has won his past 4 here all in good fashion and looks well drawn again. Alpha Aion and Mr. Worldwide can figure in the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.3.8.
Race 2 - There looks to be several chances in this so it’s worth having a First Four, Striking Jewel and Dyna Quire both has handy form and are knocking on the door. Spring Kudu is in the smart kennel of Gregory Board and is a must for our First Four. Add in Dakota Cam who has had 11 tries with 4 placings to round out our main chances. Box Up 2.5.6.7.
Race 3 - Mepunga Gal flew home late to run an eye-catching 2nd here last start in good time, she has won her previous 3 here all in good fashion and is drawn well for a bold showing. Crazy Again and the speedy Alicante Bouchet can run into the placings. Box Up 1.3.4.7.
Race 4 - The class performer when on song is Hukanui down in box 2, he has been hit and miss recently when the lids fly but should be very hard to beat in this event. Spring Bloom is back to the sprint tonight and will be running on strongly late. Box up 2.4.5.6.
Race 5 – Larrikin Locky was our best roughie here last start and he dually saluted at the nice odds of 9/1 leading throughout, he is boxed to win again and will be our top pick. Fantastic Chief is racing very well and should be right in the mix again. Box Up 1.3.4.6.
Race 6 - This is the 731m of the night and a very good one at that, On Fire has a good record over this trip but will need to begin to be right on the pace early. Jeebus Bird was a big tip around the track here last week and didn’t let his supporters down when winning the McQueen final over the 600m, he will be quick early and might be able to pinch this. Zudactyl Monelli should prove very hard to beat and has the form on the board to be right in the finish. Box Up 2.5.6.8.
Race 7 - How good is this we have at least 4 strong chances in the open event, Honcho Monelli should start the punters elect but his box manners need to improve if he is handy early he would take a power of beating. Nangar Bear is in terrific form and has been in the money in 4 of his past 5. Hot Marlow continues to perform well at the highest level. Box Up 3.4.6.8.
Race 8 - This is the Auction final of the night with $11,500 to the winner, the Barry Stewart team has been in terrific form of late winning the Howard Ashton final here 2 runs ago with Waterloo Kate and kennel mate Springvale Choix finished 3rd, both are very strong chances again in this. Barwell Boy made his SA debut with a strong 30.13 win leading throughout and should only be improved by the run. Box Up 2.3.4.5.
Race 9 - Madam Onyx won from this draw 2 starts back in 30.17 and should acquit herself again from the rails at each way odds. Pawesome Nelly has a good turn of early pace and should be carving across early along with Game of Bones. Box Up 1.4.5.7.
Race 10 - The Rasmussen kennel should have another good night and they have another strong chance with Don Lesta down in box 2, he won here in 29.92 by over 8 lengths last start and is my top pick in this. Spring King is a speedy type and is a must for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.5.
Race 11 - I like the book ends in this with Sparkling Shogun and Ticklebelly Flat with the latter being my top pick as he has the form on the board. Add Our Bro Pedro and Stitch Em Bear for the First Four. Box Up 1.5.7.8.
Race 12 - The final event of a huge night and it’s very hard to go past Snakebite Bale in the Ben Rawlings kennel down in box 1, he has his paw on the till and appears a massive chance. Zellman and Vast appear the dangers. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Please check your license card to confirm the expiry date.
It is vital that you license before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. As an example it you are nominating for any race meeting in July you would want to have renewed by Friday 22nd June to guarantee no issues.
Check with Owners locally and from Interstate as this has been an issue in recent years and get the licenses renewed by this date.

There will be three series’ for which payments will need to be made.
The payments due are:
Classic 2018 – Final Payment Pups Born July 16 to Dec 16
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first two Sustaining Payments have been made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.
Breeders 2019 – Second Payment - Pups Born Jan 17 to June 17
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first Sustaining Payment was made last December. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
Classic 2019 – First Payment - Pups Born July 17 to Dec 17

To assist all owners of Futurity eligible pups, reminders were posted this week. It is perhaps a good idea to make the payment as soon as you can, so it doesn’t slip your mind and the closing date passes. If you have sold a pup/s we would ask if you can either forward on the information or let Caralyn Fielden know at GRSA and she can follow it up. If you haven’t received a reminder and you think you should have, contact us asap.
PARTICIPANT DRESS CODE
Stewards remind participants to ensure they comply with all requirements of the GRSA Dress Code when attending race meetings when involved in racing.
CHANGES TO 6 MONTH TRIAL POLICY FROM JUNE 1
GRSA Stewards have recently undertaken a benchmarking exercise with other states around field sizes for greyhounds looking to return to racing after not competing for more than six (6) months. The Stewards view is the spirit of the rule about unraced greyhound for more than six (6) months is to ensure the greyhound is fit to race.
In an effort to assist participants, the GRSA Trial Policy will be amended, to allow greyhounds which have not raced for more than six (6) months to be able to complete a satisfactory trial as a solo trial. This change will take effect as of 1 June 2018. The provisions of GAR72 and GAR77A still apply.
CLAIMING RACES BEING CONDUCTED
There are specific claiming race conditions for these events, but basically, greyhounds are graded into an event with a claiming price.
Prior to the event, new owners can buy the greyhound before it starts with any prizemoney won being retained by the old owners and then the new owners take the greyhound after the race.
These races provide an opportunity to sell and buy greyhounds that are currently competing. Conditions refer to no more than $2,500 or $5,000 claiming prize
Races are programmed on –
Wednesday 27th June – 388m (up to $2,500)
Wednesday 11th July – 388m (up to $5,000)
Sunday 15th July – 400m (Gawler – up to $5,000)
Wednesday 25th July (up to $5,000)
KURT DONSBERG – ONCOURSE RACE NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER

Kurt will continue as normal with Thursdays and also Wednesdays based on his availability.
On those days/nights of racing when Kurt is not oncourse GRSA will continue to allow participants to take their own presentation photos and if required, gain access to the presentation area. Please just liaise with the Stewards on the day for access.
ACCELL THERAPY MAT NOW AVAILABLE AT ANGLE PARK
The mat is now available in the foyer area of the Angle Park building. It is recommended that a greyhound derives benefit with a 15 to 20 minute session and is generally for recovery from racing or injury.
It will be available during normal office hours to be used (greyhounds racing on that day excluded). Please ask the Racing Admin staff if you wish to use the mat. GRSA is working towards making this available also during trial sessions.
