TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

With a strong 10 event programme tonight, we need to win early to start a kitty for the holiday break, don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events. There appears to be several good things on the card so we should finish on the right side of the ledger.

Race 1 - Rachel Zane will find this a lot easier than recent starts, she has the pace to lead and will be hard to beat. Shimando should start the punters elect and is a must for the Trifecta punters. Box Up 3.4.6.8.

Race 2 - The Maiden events in recent weeks have been very good to us and we can have a wager on the newcomer Oshkosh Petra down in box 1, she is in the leading kennel and is boxed for a bold showing 1st up. Spring Rodney and Springvale Diva can fill the placings. Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 3 - The Troy Murray kennel has been in fine form of late and they have a strong chance with Premier Double out in box 8, he won from this draw last start at Gawler and should go close again. Spring Cuervo is very slow early and will be doing his best work late. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Race 4 - This is the distance event of the night and with only the 4 starters it makes for a very interesting race, Cairnlea Jet has been racing well and should set the early pace. Jeebus Bird continues to find one better each week and Pirates Curse is a very smart performer who will be rattling home late and is a big chance in this. Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 5 - Fabwik is in outstanding form for the Corby team with 4 smart wins on the trot, she should lead again and looks the measuring stick. Honcho Monelli is a class act and will be flying home. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 6 - We tipped Come On Loopy last week at 19/1 and she ran a very creditable 3rd even though she was well beaten, tonight she can lead and hopefully hold on. Parcero Hope can improve and can’t be overlooked. Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 7 - I love a dam good Coffee after a hard night and we should be able to collect with the Rasmussen trained Coffee King in this, he has early pace and should be able to kick up and hold the early lead. Run Rosie has been very consistent of late and can run a cheeky race at odds. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 8 - Its hard to go past Cawbourne Swade after he scorched the track in a slick 29.59 here last start from box 4, he appears the one to beat again on that effort. Shima Mart led early only to be beaten by him and should be very prominent again. Box up 1.2.5.7.

Race 9 - This is the 600m of the night and with smart runners it certainly is a high quality affair, Pyredos Monelli is my top pick as the small field is a bonus. Stack The Aces is normally quick early but would need a handy lead to hold on. Box Up 1.4.6.8.

Race 10 - We can go home on a winner with Spring Double who has drawn well here, he is very smart when on song and looks one of the major players. Come On Enzo has a good record from inside draws, add Precious Tyson at big odds who will be doing her best work late. Box Up 1.2.5.8.

SHIMA BREEZE TAKING ON THE SANDOWN LAURELS SEMI FINALS ON SUNDAY

The Tony Rasmussen trained Shima Breeze has drawn perfectly in box 1 of the Group 1 Sandown Laurels Semi Finals to be run on Sunday.

She was the fastest qualifier in winning her heat last week and looks a top chance to make the classic final. She is engaged in Race 5 to be run at 2.47pm SA time and we wish the connections the best of luck.

MAX JAKE HEADING FOR SALE CUP HEATS ON SUNDAY

The Lauren Harris trained Max Jake is engaged in the second heat of the Group 1 Sale Cup on Sunday evening.

A winner of his last three starts the 650m journey should suit him perfectly. He is engaged in race 6 at 7.07pm (SA time) and has drawn box 3 in a quality field. With three heats of the Cup the first 2 are automatic with the 2 fastest thirds also qualifying so we wish the connections the best of luck.
