TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

Tonight we have three fantastic heats of the 2019 Champion Puppy, races 3, 4 and 5.  The Steve Bartholomew kennel hold a very strong hand in the opening two events with Galactic Titan and Galactic Athena who both love the Angle Park loam and look well drawn.  We also have a very strong 731m on the programme  which is race 10 followed up by a smart 600m.

Race 1 - Hopefully we can kick off with an early winner with Roxy’s Daisy down in box 1, she has been racing well and was a last start winner here in handy time.  Spirit Of Pop is our value runner out in box 8, he has terrific Gawler form and can run into the placings. Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 2 - This is the maiden of the night and it’s hard to get a form line on these with several having their first start.  American Man is in the powerful Rasmussen kennel so we will put him on top.  Holy Reign has had 6 starts for 2 placings and is having her first run here in SA, the ex-NSW chaser is sure to be in the mix. Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 3 - Galactic Titan looks well boxed again out in box 8, he won here 2 runs back in 29.81 then was placed here last start when a good 2nd he looks very hard to beat.  McLaren Dazzler loves an inside draw and can run into the money as can Romanowski who never looked like getting beat here last start. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 4 - Galactic Athena has certainly taking a liking to Headquarters with 3 from 3 here all in quick times, she overcome early trouble here last start to win which was a massive run, she looks the one to beat again.  Dashing Dixon is a must for the trifecta along with Fly For Fun. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 5 - The Lauren Harris trained Missy Crane flew the lids and won here in 30.03 last week from this draw, she is in terrific form and should take a power of beating again.  Weblec Queen is very smart when on song and can run a cheeky race, add Miss Breakout who can improve. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 6 - This certainly is a tricky affair with a heap of chances, I like one here at good each way odds in Acoustic Lee she has a good turn of early pace and might be able to skip to the front and pinch this.  Come Home will be rattling home late and is well drawn, as is Spring Cuervo who has won his last 4. Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 7 - Canya Chase found a heap of trouble here last start when unplaced, he has been freshened since and was in terrific form prior, he can bounce back and win tonight.  Weblec Nic has been racing well over the 600m and has won 4 of her past 5, she has early pace and certainly looks a danger. Box Up 2.4.5.8

Race 8 - There looks to be a heap of early pace in this so it makes for a tricky event, we will stick with Alicante Bouchet in the Rawlings kennel, she has won her past 2 here leading throughout on both occasions.  Times Right is very smart when on song and is drawn for a bold showing.  Waterloo Monelli will be flying home late and is a definite for our First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 9 - I’m Top Girl won her maiden here last start in good fashion scoring in 30.04, she has been placed prior and looks a chance again. McLaren Mystique is slow early but should improve from a rail draw, add Nero Shiraz and Surveyor for the minors. Box Up 2.5.7.8

Race 10 - This is the 731m of the night and the Nicole Stanley kennel hold a strong hand with her 2 runners in Dyna Quota and Ethics, both have won here and are hard to separate.  West On Tia is working towards a win and I wouldn’t be surprised if she won. Box Up 2.5.7.8.

Race 11 - Whata Key found a heap of trouble here last week and proved pretty costly with punters he is well drawn here and can bounce back.  Alpha Aion is my pick as he carved out a slick 29.78 win here last start from this draw winning by over 7 lengths, he steps up to the 600m here and is very strong. Box Up 2.5.7.8

Race 12 - The Laurie Cahalan trained Mepunga Zeus has been hit and miss on box rise of late, if he can stay out of trouble early he will be hard to beat.  Y
oda has the draw and will be doing his best work late.  Staunch As could be the surprise packet as he is a chance of leading and is capable of pinching this. Box Up 1.4.5.8

SENNACHIE POWERS TO GROUP ONE GLORY IN BRISBANE CUP

SA bred Sennachie lowered the Albion Park 520 metre track record with a breathtaking performance in last Thursday night’s Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup Final.

Sennachie produced a stunning 29.38 run in the $250,000 to-the-winner feature for Victorian trainer Steve White and SA owners Kirin Corby and Bill Wudarczyk, blowing his rivals away with brilliant early speed which he sustained throughout the trip winning by four lengths.

Bred locally by Wudarczyk, Sennachie, a son of Fernando Bale and Rhonda Rocks, is now a winner of 12 of his 20 career starts which includes the Group 2 Queensland Derby at Albion Park in May where he won in an electrifying 29.52.

Congratulations to all connections!
