TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Ladies and Gentlemen we can’t get it any better than this, seven quality heats of the UBET Adelaide Cup.  The 7 winners will make their way through to the final along with the fastest 2nd. All runners will be vying for a MASSIVE $75,000 to the winner next Friday night. There is a huge contingent of interstate performers crossing the border which makes it a very interesting night for the punters. Two local hopes in Marlow Brown and Worm Burner are a big chance of representing the state in the big final next week with early luck.

Race 1, Wheel Spinner is well drawn and is in fine form and from box 2 will take a power of beating.  Dana Jorja will add some value for us as will Dyna Norfolk out in box 7.  Box Up 2.3.4.7.

Race 2, Heat 1 of the Adelaide Cup and what a ripper it is.  The Jason Thompson kennel has a very smart one in Invictus Rapid.  He has terrific short course form and is boxed to jump to the front.  Local sprinter Fabregal has the home track advantage and will be very hard to beat despite her poor draw.  Add in the Victorian chaser Alpha Demeter for the trifecta.  Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 3, Heat 2.   Benteke trialled here in a slick 29.49 prior to the nationals and is drawn for a bold showing. With some of the Interstaters scratched it looks a great chance for our locals to qualify. Both It’s Classified and Mrs Bubbles should hit the line well.  Box Up 2.3.5.6.

Race 4 Heat 3, This looks a toss-up between Aqua Cheetah and Jesaulenko.  Both are in good form and are well drawn.  The eachway bet of the night is Benta Bale who will be rattling home and would be a huge chance with an ounce of luck into the 1st turn.  Box Up 1.3.4.8.

Race 5 Heat 4, the Mark Gatt trained Ritza Lenny has good Wenty form and has been in the money in 21 of his 28 starts.  Mepunga Fame is ultra consistent and is a must for the trifecta.  Box Up 3.5.6.7

Race 6 Heat 5, Local hope Marlow Brown has hit form at the right time and with his home track advantage and his early pace he might be able to skip away down the back.  Dundee Osprey has won his past two at Sandown and the Meadows in quick times and is drawn for a bold showing.  Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 7 Heat 6, Weekend Binge has taken a liking to the Angle Park Loam winning the Derby here at his latest start.  He has very good box manners and is primed for another win.  West On Janet a WA performer is well drawn down in box 1 and is sure to be well tried.  Box Up 1.4.5.7

Race 8 Heat 7, and we see the local champ in Worm Burner, he has had his colours lowered at his past couple missing the kick on both occasions but as true champs do he can bounce back and win from box 7.  Bruce Tycoon has been racing well in Victoria and was a last start winner at Sandown.   Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 9 This is a handy 600m event and I will go with Cyclone Clifford from box 1.  He is very close to a win.  Barleys Rhythm was a last start winner over this trip and beat a red hot field so she is a must for the top 3.  Add in Keroma Storm and Venetian Mask.  Box up 1.2.4.7

Race 10 A small field of 5 and it’s very hard to go past the pacey Springvale Bryne.  She has won her past 3 over this trip all in good fashion.  Go You Girl can run 2nd and Here Comes Henry for 3rd for a $1.00 outlay.  6.4.2

Race 11 Ultima Bale won from this draw three starts back in good fashion; he looks very hard to beat again.  Dana Mork has been hit and miss of late but is drawn to improve and we can’t leave out Bounce Pass as she is very strong.  Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 12 and we should go home on a winner with On Fire from box 1.  She is very smart with a clear run and looks too strong in this. Optic Blast returned to the winners circle with a good win at Gawler from this draw.  Box Up 1.3.6.7.
