Racing News

TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Well it certainly appears to be a fantastic night of racing as we see another month fly by us. There is a mixture over all three distances tonight and based on recent weeks we should see some smart times carved out.  The highlights should come from race 7 and 8 over the sprint and race 9 over the 600m.  All three events have class and should make for good betting races.

Race 1 and we will kick off with a winner in Hukanui, has had been racing well in Victoria in recent weeks and drops back in grade tonight and should win.  Play Your Ace is racing well and is a chance for a place.  Box Up 4.5.6.7.

Race 2 and Sheeza Nitro will appreciate the inside draw tonight and will prove very hard to beat from box 2.  She has early pace and should hold them out in the run to the first turn. Allen Kentucky rarely runs a bad race so he is a must for the trifecta.  Box Up 2.5.6.8.

Race 3 and there are two main chances in this.   Harbormaster for Kirin Corby, this youngster has only had four starts and is very quick with a clear run and Menzel Boys is in form and the wide draw is a bonus.  Box Up 1.4.6.8.

The 4th and this is the distance affair of the night and it is very hard to go past Luna Jinx who carved out a slick 42.90 here last week from this draw, she appears a stand out.   Zipping Geoff is a new comer from over the border and loves to run a place.  Add in Springvale Bryne for the trifecta, 7 from 1.4.8.

The 5th and this is a tricky event with several chances so it’s time to have a crack at the First 4, Lady Xanthe is a likely improver at Each Way odds, so is the pacey Crisis Bale.  We can never leave out Dodger I Am who will be rattling home over the top of them.  Box Up 2.3.4.7.

Race 6 and Regal Looper has the perfect draw down in box 1 and should start the punters elect, he can be hit and miss on box rise but should be able to hold his position to the 1st turn.  Cash In Looper is another who will be in the finish, so will Zipping Spice who looks the early leader.  Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 7 and the Butcher kennel has a big chance with She’s A Looper down in Box 2.  She is facing a couple of smart ones here and should prove very hard to beat.  Fusaichi Kahn can run a very cheeky race from box 1 on recent efforts so will Kalispell who has notched up several wins since crossing the Tasman.  Box Up 1.2.6.7. in a very good event.

How good is Race 8 on paper, Sunday Shoes has resumed from injury and is going for four in a row all in quick times from Box 1.  She will take a power of beating if she leads.  Coorong Kid is a favourite of mine as he keeps on surprising from all draws and has a huge motor.  Kennel mate Worm Burner will be rattling home also.  Box Up 1.3.5.6.

Race 9 and this is a handy 600m event but it is very hard to go past Von Dousa for the Ray Murray kennel.  He made good late ground when 2nd behind Gun McBain in quick time last Thursday and for mine leads and wins here.  Dyna Inca is drawn to run a cheeky race from box 2.  Box Up 2.3.4.8.

Race 10 and there are a heap of chances in this as Nit Noi has early speed.  Hesa Jayclo will be running on and the Kath Johnstone trained Excusez Moi is more than capable with early luck.  Box Up 1.2.3.7

The final event, Race 11 and the Rob Harnas kennel has a handy one in Relton.  He won from box 6 here last week in a slick 29.62 by over 6L, based on that effort he is our top pick.  Kilter Bale has pace and is a must for the trifecta along with He’s A Dude.  Box Up 1.5.7.8.

NEXT INDUSTRY CONSULTATIVE GROUP MEETING – FRIDAY 8TH APRIL

The next ICG meeting will be held at GRSA on Friday 8th April with the Agenda sent out last week.

CHANGES TO PATHWAY RACING TIME STANDARDS

The GRSA Racing Department wishes to advise of the following changes to Pathway Racing time standards, which will take effect from Friday 1st April, 2016:

The methodology for establishing the Pathway Racing time standards is based on the average winning time in Grade 5 & 6 events at each track/distance. Following a request for an immediate review of these times (particularly at Mt Gambier), it was established that the information displayed on the GRSA website relating to average winning times was incorrect.

As such, over the past week the Racing Department has collated the correct information and has amended the Pathway Racing time standards accordingly. A further review of the Pathway Racing concept will occur at the end of the 6-month trial in early July.

Participants wishing to provide feedback on Pathway Racing are urged to forward comments to GRSA via email, post or through the GRSA closed Facebook page.

PATHWAY RACING FLATTENED STAKES

With Pathway Racing in full swing the first three months of the trial will end this month. From the 1st April the next three months will commence with FLATTENED STAKEMONEY. The tables listed below highlight the difference in prizemoney levels.

It is extremely important that trainers MUST nominate for the Pathway Races with such a difference in prizemoney. If you do not nominate for these events you cannot be considered.

Please contact the grader at GRSA if you require further information.
