MEDIA RELEASE – TONIGHT’S ANGLE PARK PREVIEW

SA.THEDOGS Form Analysis

Race 1 - Good race to kick off the card. MEMPHIS KEEPING (4) has gone really well in his two wins since joining the state and gets his chance to make it three in a row. Think he musters hard and gets around the red. RUN LIKE JESS (2) sparks interest and could tag the #1 & #4 to land close enough whilst ALWAYS HO HO (7) is racing terrific but poor draw.

Race 2 - Suspect the market will be fortune telling for this guessing game. ARCHMAN (5) is in good hands and would be very well schooled for a good debut run. ONIX BALE (4) is in good touch and is improving - often a good formula for a race like this! SIR BENJAMIN (1) has the right draw and is from a good litter, plus he's in a leading kennel.

Race 3 - Set the alarms folks, you wont want to miss this! Mesmerising clash ahead even though only two dogs left. FRANKIE BOY (1) has an enormous future and the runs on the board now. Gets the red which is a huge plus, so is only one other challenger. VICTA HAYDYN (2) has been destined for the 730s for a while, but maybe he's too brilliant for it. With now only two in the race it makes for a great MATCH RACE.

Race 4 - Box draw has made this race a wonder with the #5 desperate to get to the paint. SUNSET TOXIC (4) was terrific last week and if he avoids the #5 which he can with his first split, then I think it's race over. DANYO'S CHARLIE (2) has returned really well, I just don't think he will get to the front. ASTON GYPSY (7) can swish around any trouble below

Race 5 - This is hard, with plenty of reasons to back a few. MEET JOE BLACK (3) is the safe bet with a wide runner outside. The knock is the first go over this trip but no reason he won't handle it. SELL MORE HOUSES (5) is going great and think she can surprise at odds, whilst VICTA JESS (1) is flying and has the gun draw. Chances don't end there though.

Race 6 - Strong field of five assembled here. STOUT MONELLI (6) has come back a bigger beast than before, showing sheering speed and brute strength. Deserved favourite and a big chance to make it three in a row. FANTASTIC VICTOR (2) will hustle up early and challenge Stout, needs to hold him out to win, but will give it a shake. VICTA GROSSO (8) for third.

Race 7 - Good contest with the #3 & #6 set to dominate the market. FANTASTIC KEARY (3) is proven here and is racing super. Wide runner outside is a big plus, he just needs to step. HIGH OCTANE (6) flew at the Bridge last week but he would need a good lead to hold on in this, having crawled home at his first 500m efforts. MALLEE DREAMER (8) will charge home.

Race 8 - Box draw can be the decider here and I recon BRIEF (1) uses the red perfectly to step and find the arm. Will keep grinding away if she gets there and it will make it hard for those behind. PSYCHOTIC BABE (7) will give a sight with her A1 box manners. If she doesn't lead she will keep sticking. STRANGER TIDES (6) also with a chance but needs to jump

Race 9 - Think class will see SPRING LINE (4) get the job done here. Was quite a good run last week when bumping up the back before rocketing home. Has a bit of class and think she can push over to the fence. ASTON WINES (2) was good in the same race, just need to see a bit more from him early. ROGUE PLAYER (6) goes well and I think the wide draw can assist

Race 10 - BOOMBOX HAMMER (2) looks a great chance to land another victory. This is his grade and this box draw sets up really nicely. GEORGE THE FIRST (5) is going well, the drop back in trip doesn't help but the small field and lack of speed does. Could almost land behind the #8 in the run. SHE'S A HOTSHOT (8) looks a certainty to lead... but for how long?

Race 11 - I think the Masters newbie in THREATEN (6) will be the one to beat. Comes to race the old timers for the first time and he could well lead this. If that happens then I don't think they will catch him. ALFIERI (4) is still very capable, but he needs the fence or you can forget about it. Should get there though. ZIPPING HAMISH (8) is in this aswell.

Race 12 - Hopefully go home a winner. VICTA MIKEY (5) looks the most likely for mine, if he can cross the #1 then I can't see what runs him down. LANA ROADS (1) gets her chance to hold up here and she is getting a bit stronger, so won't be easy to pass her. ASTON CARLOS (7) gets the right sort of map, just needs to stay close. Enjoy the New Year punters!

THANKS MC RAY FEWINGS

For the past two decades many greyhound fans would have heard the voice of Ray Fewings as the MC on race nights at Angle Park or race calling our events. Whilst Ray has wound back his race calling recently, tonight will be his last night as the Master of Ceremonies at Angle Park. Committing to basically every Thursday night year after year takes a huge amount of effort and dedication to the industry and Ray has done this making the role his own. His wealth of knowledge and insight to the industry has made it a much better and enjoyable experience for our oncourse patrons for which we thank Ray very much. Ray will now be able to take the occasional night off however I’m sure he will still be on the “Table of Knowledge” most Thursday nights.

Lachlan Stace will commence the role as MC for Angle Park in the new year.

This race is named in honor of one of the best sprinters ever to come from South Australia. Kate’s A Scandal was owned by Gayle Brown and trained by Howard Gray and in 1981 she was considered the best sprinter in the country. She won 15 consecutive metropolitan races which at the time broke a 30 year record culminating in the 1981 National Sprint Championship held at Olympic Park in Victoria. Injury plagued throughout her career she retired in late 1981 with the impressive record of 18 wins and 6 placings from just 33 starts. Kate’s A Scandal was named Greyhound of the Year in that year.

GRSA SKY WEEKLY SCHEDULE TO CHANGE FROM 1ST DECEMBER 2021

From the start of this month (December), the Sky weekly schedule of greyhound racing in South Australia has changed. The first two Sundays of any month will routinely be scheduled at Murray Bridge with the remaining Sundays being allocated to Gawler. The primary reason for the change is about providing both of those Clubs with an accessible weekly timeslot which helps them to cultivate a strong base of local patronage.

In regard to trialling at these Clubs, when we race at Gawler on the Friday they will trial on the Thursday before. When we race at Gawler on the Sunday they will trial on the Friday before. Murray Bridge trialling dates will remain unchanged.

KURT DONSBERG CHANGE OF ATTENDANCE DUE TO RACE SCHEDULE

With the change in the race schedule from December our Oncourse Photographer, Kurt Donsberg will restrict his attendance at the Murray Bridge Straight Track on Tuesdays to only when there are Feature Heats and Finals conducted and focus on the Friday and Sunday events at Gawler and Murray Bridge.

Those wishing to take a photo when Kurt is not in attendance after the event please liaise with the stewards on the day/night.
