Angle Park Preview April 7
TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow
What a fantastic night of racing we have with two heats of the SA Distance Championship over the 731m and two over the Sprint for the SA Anniversary Cup, add to that a sprinkle of interstaters which always adds a bit of colour to the night as they aren’t here for our good weather!!
Race 1 and we kick off with an interesting event. I will stick with the inform kennel of Cameron Butcher as they have Dodger I Am engaged from box 3. He can be hit and miss on box rise but with a clear run will take a power of beating. Black Bottle has pace and is a must for the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.3.7
Race 2 and the Rasmussen kennel rarely leaves the track without a winner so we will go with Allen Kentucky in box 2, he will appreciate the inside draw and is very smart when on the lure. Play Your Ace can improve along with Marshall Givens. Box Up 1.2.3.6
Race 3 and let’s stick with number 2 again in Getty Bale. She returned to form with a win here last start from box 3 leading throughout, so there is no reason she can’t make it back to back wins. Excusez Moi always runs a cheeky race so we can put her in for 2nd. Box Up 1.2.7.8.
Race 4 and this is the first heat of the Distance Championship and we have two Victorians in this and I am tipping Bells Are Ringin in box 6. She won last start at the Meadows over the journey last Saturday and looks primed for this. Springvale Bryne is racing well and is boxed for a bold showing. Add the other interstater in Miss Bo Wicked for value. Box Up 3.5.6.8.
Race 5 the 2nd heat of the Distance Championship events and the Ben Rawlings trained Porrentruy looks one of the better bets on the programme. He has won 8 of 19 with a couple of placings and has been well travelled from Victoria to N.S.W in recent months. He should find this more to his liking and will take beating. The main dangers should come from Mija Returns and Dyna Quote. Box Up 2.3.7.8.
Race 6 and this is a very open affair with at least 5 chances. The punters elect should be Mauricio but he has drawn poorly in box 5. Sheeza Nitro is in terrific form and has the aid of box 1. Menzel Boys and My Boy Ollie are racing well. Box Up 1.3.4.5
Race 7 the first of the two Anniversary Cup heats and Worm Burner can rail up strongly from the red and beat the high flying Sunday Shoes. Both are very smart on their night and can’t be dismissed. Ring The Bell is a visitor with strong wins over the 600m and could add value for the first 4. Box Up 1.2.5.7.
Race 8 the 2nd of the sprint heats, I am tipping the Butcher kennel for another terrific night as She’s A Looper is drawn for a bold showing down in box 1. She has a tremendous record of 11 wins and 2 placings from just 16 starts and a personal best of 29.41 at this venue. Are Ate is resuming and he hasn’t missed a cheque here in his 5 starts here, so he is a must for the trifecta and first 4. Box Up 1.2.3.5.
Race 9 this is a handy 600m event but the locally trained Von Dousa should have the edge on his last start win here in quick time over this trip. Full On Bling has credentials and should find this easier than his last start 3rd at the Meadows, add in Jet Setting for the top 3. Box Up 1.2.5.7.
Race 10 the Troy Murray trained Aston Coco is coming off a slick win at Gawler last start, she will give them something to catch from her inside draw of 2. Pawesome Boss has pace and loves to run a place. Add in Anisa Bale and Dashing Dee Dee. Box up 1.2.3.6
The final event Race 11 and Shana Allen can send us home on a winning note on her last start win here from box 7. She has the pace to lead and should prove too strong. Coorabie can be hit and miss on box rise but is smart with a clear run. Box Up 3.5.6.7.

ADDITIONAL SUNDAY RACING FOR MT GAMBIER
The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club has been given approval by the GRSA Board to run an additional three extra Sunday meetings over the next three months on a trial basis.
Mount Gambier has been averaging over 140 nominations for their weekly race meetings since January this year. The extra Sunday meetings will aim to cater for lower class and maiden greyhounds as well as generally supporting the opportunity for trainers to gain a start which may otherwise have been denied to them under current scheduling.
The additional racing will be on –
Sunday 24th April 2016
Sunday 22nd May 2016
Sunday 19th June 2016
The club will continue to run their normal Friday meeting prior to these Sundays.
Racing on the Friday and Sunday of these weeks will provide that extra opportunity once a month for those greyhounds unable to gain a start.
These meetings will be graded under these conditions –
-
The Mount Gambier GRC will have their main meeting for that weekend graded first.
-
Those greyhounds who gain a start in one meeting will be considered at the end for the other meeting allowing for greater participation.
-
There will be an opportunity for greyhounds to “Beat The Grader” allowing for the chance to win two races for only one grade.
-
The Mount Gambier GRC will program additional Heat and Finals to accommodate this pool of greyhounds.

CHANGES TO PATHWAY RACING TIME STANDARDS
The GRSA Racing Department wishes to advise of the following changes to Pathway Racing time standards, which will take effect from Friday 1st April, 2016:
The methodology for establishing the Pathway Racing time standards is based on the average winning time in Grade 5 & 6 events at each track/distance. Following a request for an immediate review of these times (particularly at Mt Gambier), it was established that the information displayed on the GRSA website relating to average winning times was incorrect.
As such, over the past week the Racing Department has collated the correct information and has amended the Pathway Racing time standards accordingly. A further review of the Pathway Racing concept will occur at the end of the 6-month trial in early July.
Participants wishing to provide feedback on Pathway Racing are urged to forward comments to GRSA via email, post or through the GRSA closed Facebook page.
PATHWAY RACING FLATTENED STAKES
With Pathway Racing in full swing the first three months of the trial will end this month. From the 1st April the next three months will commence with FLATTENED STAKEMONEY. The tables listed below highlight the difference in prizemoney levels.
It is extremely important that trainers MUST nominate for the Pathway Races with such a difference in prizemoney. If you do not nominate for these events you cannot be considered.
Please contact the grader at GRSA if you require further information.
