TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

Tonight’s 12 event programme, we have a mixture of racing over all 3 main distances, there looks to be a couple of good things later in the night, as usual all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - Golly Gumdrops is the form runner, she has won six of her last seven starts including a win from this draw at Gawler last start in good fashion, she can kick start the night for us.  Jervois Boy is strong and can run into the placings along with Winlock Huddy who looks the likely improver. Box up 1.3.4.7

Race 2 - This is the Maiden of the evening and Hali’s Girl is working towards a win, she wasn’t that far away last start when 3rd and is amongst the main chances. Zinfandel Oompa is a newcomer and the kennel has been in fine form of late. Spofforth looks a Trifecta hope. Box Up 2.3.4.8

Race 3 - Coorong Nugget won here three runs back in 30.02, he has a good turn of early pace and looks one of the better chances of the night. Raging Rocco is our value runner for the Trifecta, his best racing has been when drawn closer to the fence, he is very strong and might run a cheeky race at odds. Box Up 2.3.4.8

Race 4 - This is a tricky event as there are a couple of smart performers drawn out wide, we will stick with Fabs You Go out in box 7, he was never a threat here last start when well beaten, he is very smart when on song and is worth another chance. Like A Slug has terrific Mount Gambier form and Good Odds Diana is a chance of leading. Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 5 - The 1st of the 600m and Springvale Issy has won her last three all in quick times, she carved out a slick 35.01 here last week from box 8 and should be able to lead again tonight so we will put her on top. Vontae Mack rattled home to score over this trip last week in 35.13, he can be hit and miss early but with a clear run will be doing his best work late. Springvale Anna and Corryong McLaren for the First Four. Box Up 1.5.7.8

Race 6 - Oakvale Warrior was a smart winner three runs back at Gawler, he hasn’t had a huge amount of luck since but is one of the main chances from the draw. Premier Double is normally slow away, he will be running on strongly and can finish in the placings. Box Up 1.2.3.7

Race 7 - I like one in this at each way odds and that is Dracarys trained by Colin Swain who has him firing of late, he carved out a 35.06 run here last start winning by over 4L from box 8, he has the speed to lead and will go very close. Defy and Cawbourne Terry are amongst the other main chances. Box up 1.5.6.7

Race 8 - This is a terrific event with at least 5 chances, Lauren Harris has Shadow Mist in fine form winning 4 of his last 5 including a BON 29.59 run here last week, he will be hard to beat on that effort. Hot Sophie is very strong and has been racing in similar company, add It’s A Riot who is getting back to his best. Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 9 - Coorong Lucy has been a class act over the sprint in recent months now she is doing the same over the 600m, she led them a merry dance last week and won by over 6L in a slick 34.75, she will start at skinny odds again but is all class. Toora Ziggy is another class act, he has a terrific record of 4 wins from 9 starts over this trip and is the big danger. Holy Reign and Tammy Parker for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 10 - This is a wide open affair with a lot of the early pace drawn wide, Threaten was a last start winner here from box one in good time he can be hit and miss on box rise but is amongst the main chances. Our Boy Wolf has been racing well over the short he is in the Murray kennel and sure to be primed for the extra distance. Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 11 - The distance affair of the night and we will go with Miss Bellawood who has been runner up to Sir Truculent at her past 3 over this trip, she should lead again and hold on. Miss Breakout comes into the mix and can run into the placings along with West On Tia. 5 from 1.7.2

Race 12 - Danyo’s Rosie won two on the trot here last month in good times, she has a good turn of early pace and can kick up and hold the lead. Ashby Mayhem found a heap of trouble here last start, she is a lot better than that effort and will go close. Hot Sparton and American Man for the First Four. Box up 1.3.5.6
