TELLING THE TAIL
By The Shadow

Tonight we have a strong 10 event program here at headquarters and if we can follow on from last week we should have another good night on the punt. We have 2 events over the 595m, 1 over the 730m and the remaining over the 530m, there looks to be a couple of specials on the card and don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - We kick start the night with a 595m and its very hard to go past Mallee Magic who has been in outstanding form, he won here two runs back in a slick 34.13 and he should win again. Kennel mate Victa Saige is drawn to run a bold race from her good draw. Add Love And Rain for the Trifecta. 8 from 1.2.4

Race 2 - Influencer looks one of the better chances in this, he has the early pace to be able to push up along the fence early and hold the lead. Outback Rebel is well boxed tonight he should be running on late along with Sassy Izzy who has been placed here in three of five. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 3 - Rugged And Ready is my top selection in this, he has been in terrific form over the 595m here and has the early pace to lead and win. George The First was a last winner over this trip at this track and is the danger. Forte Nero loves to run into the placings and can do so again. 4.1.6.8 for $1

Race 4 - Meet Joe Black who is in the Bec Romyn kennel loves a wide draw and will be the one they have to catch in this, the big fellow at 34kgs has been in the money in 4 of 5 here and can salute here. Compulsory Hero has been in the money at his last five he can be hit and miss on lid rise but is strong. Box Up 8 from 1.4.6.

Race 5 - Tough event this one as there is a heap of early pace in the run to the 1st turn, we will stick with Harbor Blues out in box 7 as he has won 3 of his last four and was a big winner here last run in 30.48. Spring Crossing is the danger as he is a strong type who is well drawn. Box Up 1.2.6.7

Race 6 - The Rasmussen kennel is in outstanding form and they have the two main contenders here in Hot Spartan and Lady Fernando, Hot Spartan is well drawn and gets his chance tonight to break back into the winners circle so we will make him our top selection. Add Stars Aligned and Straight Blaze for the First Four. Box Up 1.6.7.8

Race 7 - This looks a two dog race with Alfieri and Victa Haydn, both are in form and can run time we will put Victa Haydn on top as he is strong and has won four of his last five. Silver Stone along with Weblec Blade at value can run the First Four. Box Up 1.3.4.6

Race 8 - Hard race this one as we have several quick beginners here, whoever leads can hold on and win. Adele’s Entity has a terrific record at this track with 5 wins from her 7 starts she is drawn to have every chance. See You Smile has won her past three here and is facing her toughest test to date. Victa Grosso can run time and is drawn to get a nice run and will be the one to beat. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 9 - This is the Distance affair of the night and with only the four runners Barbados Express can make it back to back wins, she is a faultless beginner and is very strong. Frankie Boy is the danger but he can be hit and miss early and was very disappointing last start when finishing down the track. 2.7.5.1

Race 10 - The final event of the night and let’s hope we are in front as this is a wide open affair, I have gone for value and the box draw and that’s Benitoite down in box 1, her wins are far and few between but she is a chance if she can be handy early. Gonzaga is racing well and he can handle the wide draw. Velocity Teller and Let’s Win Coin for the first Four. Box Up 1.2.4.8

'DOYLE'S FUNCTION CENTRE' AT THE BRIDGE

The venue at the Murray Bridge Greyhound Racing Club will be officially named 'Doyle's Function Centre' during a function this Sunday, December 12th in recognition of Dr. Chris Doyle, GRSA's long-term veterinarian and former director.

Dr. Doyle was a strong advocate of incorporating a straight track into the design of the new Murray Bridge facility during his tenure on the GRSA Board with his view to create another safe racing opportunity for all greyhounds coming to fruition with the track now hosting weekly meetings as well as feature races, including its participation in the National Straight Track Championship.

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL OF FIRE AT ANGLE PARK – STARTS NEXT WEEK

Things are heating up at Angle Park during the two weeks leading into Christmas with the introduction of six rich events over the 530m, 595m and 730m distances.

Dubbed the “Festival Of Fire”, the series will provide opportunities for the best 48 nominations for the 530m trip, the best 28 nominations over 595m, and the best 8 nominations for a 730m event.  Separately, Heats and Final of a restricted event (0-5 wins), running from Saturday morning to Thursday night, will provide a separate opportunity for that category of runner.

The Festival of Fire series will commence on Thursday, December 16, continue into the Saturday timeslot and then culminate in 5 Finals and a special stayers event carrying a collective purse in excess of $100,000 the following Thursday night (December 23).  As a new event, the Board has resolved that the top-up amounts for this series will sit outside the Wagering Activity Payments (WAP) model.  This means that the majority of the stakemoney for the series will be additional to the guaranteed return that has already been committed to industry through the WAP model.

Conditions –

  • Greyhounds must be SA trained.
  • Greyhounds must be in South Australia as of midnight 1st November 2021 to be eligible (greyhounds that have not had their first training amendment lodged that are in SA at this time will be eligible)

CHANGE TO ANGLE PARK SATURDAY’S THIS MONTH

Greyhound Racing SA only has one fortnightly Saturday morning in December which was programmed on Saturday, 11th December with no racing on Saturday 25th December due to Christmas Day.

This would give us a 4 week gap until our next Saturday meeting in January. GRSA has liaised with Racing Queensland who advised that they are prepared to swap their fortnightly Townsville meeting with ours for Saturday, 18th December which will give SA a 3 week gap before and after our Saturday meetings.

Trials will remain on Sunday, 12th December due to staffing at Angle Park and trials will now be on Sunday, 19th December due to the race meeting. GRSA will update this to industry closer to the dates.

GRSA appreciates the support in regard to this change from Racing Queensland, the Townsville GRC and Sky Racing. The date changes are listed below -

Delete: Angle Park – Saturday 11th December 2021  (TAB) Morning

Add: Angle Park – Saturday 18th December 2021  (TAB) Morning

GRSA SKY WEEKLY SCHEDULE TO CHANGE FROM 1ST DECEMBER 2021

From the start of this month (December), the Sky weekly schedule of greyhound racing in South Australia has changed.

The first two Sundays of any month will routinely be scheduled at Murray Bridge with the remaining Sundays being allocated to Gawler. The primary reason for the change is about providing both of those Clubs with an accessible weekly timeslot which helps them to cultivate a strong base of local patronage.

In regard to trialling at these Clubs, when we race at Gawler on the Friday they will trial on the Thursday before. When we race at Gawler on the Sunday they will trial on the Friday before. Murray Bridge trialling dates will remain unchanged.

KURT DONSBERG CHANGE OFF ATTENDANCE DUE TO RACE SCHEDULE

With the change in the race schedule from December our Oncourse Photographer, Kurt Donsberg will restrict his attendance at the Murray Bridge Straight Track on Tuesdays to only when there are Feature Heats and Finals conducted and focus on the Friday and Sunday events at Gawler and Murray Bridge.

Those wishing to take a photo when Kurt is not in attendance after the event please liaise with the stewards on the day/night.

ICG MEETING NEXT FRIDAY
