TELLING THE TAIL
By The Shadow

Tonight, here at Angle Park we say farewell to the old circuit, and we will start a new era in three to four months with the new design, lets hope we can finish this evening on the right side of the ledger .As it might be a bit tough in the coming weeks, we have a strong 12 event programme and as always all races are Trifecta and First Four events.

Race 1 - The Rasmussen kennel look to have several chances throughout the evening and they kick start the night with the flying Victa Reid, he won here last week in a slick BON 29.54 and looks the one they must catch again. Bedrock Fred can run into the money along with Victa Kurt. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 2 - Deadly Mamba made late ground here last run to finish in the placings, he has the perfect draw tonight and can make it a race to race double for the Rasmussen’s. Dashing Jinx has been placed at his 5 career runs and can be amongst them again in this. Change Of Heart has handy short course form and looks a place chance. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 3 - Victa Maggie led everywhere bar the winning post when 2nd here last week, she has a good turn of early pace and looks one of the better chances from the draw. Blue By You and Zinfandel Nikki both have ability and get a chance from the inside draws, add Allegra for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 4 - Terrific event this one with a heap of chances, Max Dynamo along with Tangelo Fire both have early pace, they finished a nostril apart here at their latest run and can do the same again in this. Rogue Planet will be running on late, he normally gives them a big start but can pinch a place. Shadow Burner and Sierra Moon are strong also. Box Up 1.2.5.6

Race 5 - Stranger Tides was a huge effort when 2nd behind Jack's Well here last month, he has a heap of ability and looks the winner in this. Galway Express was very impressive from this draw when winning in 30.10 last week, he is drawn to have a say again on that run. Box up 1.3.4.5

Race 6 - Tough event this one, I have tipped Burning Nitro down in box 1, she has the pace to kick up early and is one of the better chances. Spy Master is in form and was a last winner here in good fashion, add Plumber and Opal Model who have been racing well. Box Up 1.2.3.5

Race 7 - There are several chances in this one so we will go with the well-drawn Cyclone Arrow who trailed here in 29.99, his interstate form prior was handy. Another Storm is always a chance, he has been mixing his form but gets a chance from the inside draw. Bangor Sophia and Woodside Zulu are very strong. Box Up 1.3.4.6

Race 8 - Gary’s Miracle is in outstanding form, she has won 3 of her last 4 all in quick times and is boxed to take beating again. Buddy Guy has a good turn of early pace and is right back in grade tonight, he is the improver. Cheque Money is the value for our First Four. Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 9 - Jack's Well is the class runner here, he has won 4 of his past 5, he gets back early in his races and charges home to win in slick times, he is our top pick in this. Rushes can improve and run quick times when on the lure, he is amongst the main chances. Lily Pad has pace and is another who is in form. Box Up 2.5.7.8

Race 10 - We love our distance racing and Raylene Bale bounced back into the winner’s circle with a handy win last start, she is well drawn and looks one of the main hopes. Miss Takiri has been placed at her last 3, she has the pace to be in the finish. Springvale Anna and Tapestry Tears for the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 11 - Defy found a heap of trouble at his last start when checked out of it early, he can bounce back tonight in the small field and has a handy strike rate from the draw. Rugged And Ready won from this draw 2 starts back in quick time and is drawn for a bold showing once again. No Degree charged home to win in 35.06 and appears a place chance. Box up 1.2.4.8

Race 12 - The Ben Rawlings kennel rarely go home without a winner and Mega Dossa loves this draw and can send us home on a winning note. Sweet Rose will be running on late and we cant leave out Long Gully Barny who has early pace. Box Up 1.2.5.7

GRADING OF CITY A MEETINGS WHEN ANGLE PARK SHUTDOWN –

When Angle Park is redeveloped in mid April the below outcomes have been listed below -

  • When Angle Park is shutdown for redevelopment that the City A meetings will be shared with Murray Bridge and Gawler. Murray Bridge will conduct back to back Thursday meetings allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. Gawler will then run back to back Sundays again allowing for Heats and Finals of normal and feature races. This will mean that there is one Metropolitan (CITY A) meeting per week.
  • Feature 515m races will be run at Gawler over the 531m and any 731m feature races will be run at Murray Bridge over the 680m (the 680m start will be available as the 731m boxes will be removed from Angle Park once redevelopment starts allowing for that distance to be available)
  • There will be a 680m CITY A prizemoney at Murray Bridge each Thursday every week whether City A or Prov 1 to support these stayers during this period.
  • These meetings will be considered as if the greyhounds have never raced at the venue. This will mean greyhounds will be grades Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 to start with unless new into the state and regraded higher.
  • With all grades starting from new (no higher than Grade 5 effectively) there will not be as higher prizemoney races per meeting initially with no high grade races being conducted. There will be a Best 8 each meeting over the 455m, 530m, 680m at Murray Bridge and a 531m and 643m at Gawler for this high grade money. (GRSA will just make up these races). Trainers need to write “No Best 8” on the nomination if they do not want to be in this event. If there are insufficient nominations for a Best 8 the Grader will make up normally graded events based on current policy.
  • The Racing Department intends to run Grade 5 heats on a regular basis but may have to run Grade 4/5 heats to ensure there are races for these dogs. The finals of these races will pay the normal stakemoney for Finals (Grade 5 or Open depending on grade of Heats).
  • The Grader will give preference to 455m or higher at both Murray Bridge City A and Gawler City A meetings with the intent that no short course races will be conducted. However if there was a need to run some short course this would be under “standby conditions.
  •  When a greyhound wins a Grade 5 or above over any distance at the Gawler City A and Murray Bridge City A meetings they will NOT lose any grade 6’s at other venues. The normal rule has been suspended.
  • If a greyhound has already won a Grade 6 (City A) it should be eligible for MB CITY A and GAW CITY A Grade 6 if they have more Grade’s to win as these are considered different tracks. They will still only be able to win one CITY A at each of these meetings if they do not win more races than allowed.
  • There will be NO retrospectivity for Grading when the shutdown of Angle Park occurs.

“BEAT THE GRADER” DURING REDEVELOPMENT

Our normal race schedule generally doesn’t allow for any “Beat the Grader “scenario’s however with the changes to  both Murray Bride Prov 1 and Gawler Prov 1 this is likely to happen which is an added benefit to owners and trainers.

It will be available for the Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 and then the Murray Bridge Thursday Prov 1 to Murray Bridge Monday Prov 1.

For Gawler the Friday Prov 1 to Sunday Prov 1 could happen however there is only a few days between meetings.

Please contact the Grader for clarification around the “Beat The Grader” policy.
