Racing News

We will need to back a few early winners as the night looks very even later in the night. There looks to be a couple of handy First 4 events that should pay above the average so let’s have a crack and build our banks for the long weekend.

Race 1 and this is a good start to the night as there are several chances. I will go with the Troy Murray, Flying Mal. He is well drawn out in box 7 and can pinch this. Wave To Kirra is another pacey one and can’t be left out of calculations Box Up 1.3.5.7

Race 2 there looks to be 2 main chances in this and they are Lizard Spock and Buttsy’s Bandit one will be charging home the other must lead so they have to be in our top 3. We can add in Play Your Ace for value down in the red Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 3, I’m looking for the leader here and for mine that will be Zipping Spice. She has moderate beginner’s either side but will need to be high flying as they will be coming at her from everywhere. Cash In Looper looks the improver along with He’s A Villian Box Up 3.4.5.6

Race 4 and we see the return of Lady Xanthe. She has drawn perfectly down in box 1 and when on song is very classy. Aston Gatum appears the main danger despite his poor draw of 4. Getty Bale will be the one rattling home over the top of them Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 5 and this is a 600 event and a very good one at that, but it’s very hard to go past the inform Barley’s Rhythm. She loves this trip and draw and is one of the better bets of the night. Zana Bale will be right in the mix along with Dyna Quote Box Up 1.2.3.8.

Race 6 and this is an open affair with at least 4 main chances. I will go with a bit of value in Cyclone Clifford, he is returning from a short spell and on his night would give this a big shake. Kenny Flash is another who is smart when on song Box Up 4.5.6.8 in a good First 4 race.

The 7th and as mentioned in recent weeks the Butcher kennel rarely goes home without a winner so it’s very hard to go past Coorong Kid in this, he carved out a BON 29.61 here last week from box 1 and looks the measuring stick once again. Fusaichi Kahn can never be left out as he is ultra-consistent Box Up 2.3.5.8

Race 8 and She’s A Looper should bring up a race to race double for the Butcher kennel. She has won 9 of 13 here and should continue on her winning way. Tinker Bell is more than handy and is well drawn so is a must for the trifecta. Banker Bale is very strong and has his paw on the till so he looks a good Each Way bet Box Up 1.2.3.7

The 9th now it’s getting very tough but if we go with either Rhynstone Jetta or the pacey Little Wolf we shouldn’t miss. Add in Boss Number Four who doesn’t win many but loves to run a place Box Up 2.3.6.7.

The final event Race 10, and we must lead here if we back Tuggeragh. He is smart when on song but has proven costly with the punters in recent weeks but we will go with the speedster tonight. The main dangers will come from Bella Trix and Aston Carbine Box Up 2.3.4.6.

LAUNCHING PAD HEATS TONIGHT AT SANDOWN

SA will be well represented in the Group 2 Launching Pad Heats at Sandown tonight.

Sheeza Nitro for Cameron Butcher won her way through to the heats in the local series and is engaged in race 7 box 6 due to start at 8.42pm SA time and will need to show her brilliant early speed.

After an impressive trial last week Hukanui for Tony Rasmussen has also ventured across the border and is engaged in race 11 box 6 due to start at 10.08pm local time and while not favoured by the box draw he is very strong so should be charging home.

SA Owned Jack Walker trained by Jason Thompson will hopefully make full use of box 1 in race 4 (7.39pm) and also get through to the semis. Good luck to our SA Bred greyhounds tonight.

LUNA JINX AT THE MEADOWS SATURDAY NIGHT

South Australia’s Group 1 winning stayer Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris is engaged in the first race at the Meadows on Saturday night. Her race will kick off the program due to start at 6.43pm (SA time).

MOUNT GAMBIER JOINING PATHWAY FOR GRADE 5 EVENTS

With the growing support for “Pathway” Racing the Mt Gambier GRC have joined the trial currently being conducted. With very strong nominations down the South East the club is keen to see what the results would be for their Grade 5 events where it seems some greyhounds are missing out on opportunities. The trial will be run under the same conditions as both Angle Park Wednesday and Gawler on Sunday however it will be for all their meetings starting from this Friday. As from the 1st April these races will also be under flattened stakes conditions for another 3 months. These races are for Grade 5 greyhounds however Grade 6 greyhounds can be considered if nominated for these events.

STRATHALBYN APPROVAL FOR 11 RACES

In support of participation at Strathalbyn and with good nominations each meeting GRSA has approved the running of 11 races at each race meeting so long as there are sufficient nominations to do so. If 11 races are programmed then there will be no trials during the race meeting due to insufficient kennel space.

PAPERWORK MUST BE COMPLETED!

It is a requirement of GRSA that all paperwork lodged must be correctly completed. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure all signatures are included and completed. For all varieties of paperwork whether it be licence applications, breeding forms, prizemoney details or transfer of ownership etc please ensure it is all completed prior to lodging with GRSA.
