Racing News

How good is the SA St Ledger tonight!!!  Race 8 on the programme and the Rasmussen kennel has 3 runners engaged and they should figure in the money.  Worm Burner should start the punters elect but is very hit and miss on box rise. We should be able to back our fair share of winners throughout the night and come out on the right side of the ledger. I like race 9 as it’s a very open affair and it looks a great trifecta and First 4 event.

Race 1 and we can kick off the night with one at handy odds with the pacey Starboost.  She is very quick early and from box 1 can lead here for a long way.   Fast Noodle will be flying home along with Texan Titan.  Box up 1.4.6.8.

Race 2 the flying Brando Brown is very hard to go past on his last start 29.67 win here from box 5.  So he is definitely our top selection.  The minors should come from Better Be and Shana Allen.  Box Up 1.2.3.5.

Race 3 and Allinga Dot has returned in fine form with a slick 30.02 win here last start from box 3 and should only keep on improving from the rails draw and looks the winner.  Aston Gatum and Liam’s Entity look the best of the rest.  Box Up 1.2.7.8.

This is the distance event of the night, Race 4 and the Oswald Chegia trained Mija Returns gets the nod for mine on her last win here by over 9L in 43.33.  Ulala Bale is always a chance as is Bradley Bale.  Box Up 4.6.7.8.

Race 5, number 5 is the in-form Mobius, she has been in fantastic form since resuming and will be high flying into the back and with a bit of luck appears the winner.  Ritza Raider is another who is in the mix as is Regal Looper.  Box Up 2.5.6.7.

Race 6, this is a very tricky race with several chances.  I will stick with Wild Soul who was in great form late last year by all reports he has been trailing well  Fusaichi Kahn can never be left out of calculations along with last start winner Oakvale Flyer.  Box Up 2.3.4.5.

The 7th and she was very unlucky here last start and that is Mrs Bubbles, she was checked from pillar to post early and went down by a short neck.  She is my special of the night in this. Getty Bale can add a lot of value for our trifecta along with Coorong Kid.  Box Up the inside 1.2.3.4.

Race 8, the feature event of the night and we have to stick with the Cameron Butcher Worm Burner,  he has won here in a sensational 29.40 from this draw and will be VERY hard to beat for mine.  Rhynstone Jetta has the draw and is a smart beginner.  Crisis Bale is another who can ping the lids and the kennel is in fine form.  Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 9 and I like one here at very good odds in Scottish Thistle.  She has her paw on the till with 4 placings on the trot at this venue and the wide draw is a bonus with a bit of early luck.  Shilling Flex looks the improver from the good draw along with Gazer Bale.  Box Up 1.3.8.7. in a good betting race.

Race 10 and the inside brigade appear the main chance here.  I will stick with Zana Bale despite her poor draw but when on song will prove hard to beat.  Official Label was a last start winner and is right in the mix.  Box Up 2.3.4.6.

The final event, race 11 and we will go with Velocity Tina down on the rails.  She is a lot better than form suggests and the rails draw is a huge bonus.  Then we go to the outside brigade in He’s A Dude and Ritza Connor.  Box Up 1.3.7.8.

LOCALS INTERSTATE

Congratulations to the SA Bred and Owned Jack Walker who won the Ballarat Derby last night in a gutsy win. Previously trained by Petar Jovanovic he was sent across the border to the powerful kennels of Jason Thompson and has been undefeated in four starts for him. May his good form continue for his owners.

On Saturday night Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris will represent SA in the Group 1 Zoom Top at the Meadows with local performer Ruff State now in the care of Brett Bravo also engaged on the program. We wish connections all the best on Saturday night.

SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY NIGHT RACE TIMES

There are slight changes to both Gawler Sunday and Angle Park Monday with both meetings starting a little later than normal. This is due to the forecast hot temperatures for these night meetings. Please be mindful of the kennel times for both meetings.

STRATHALBYN APPROVAL FOR 11 RACES

In support of participation at Strathalbyn and with good nominations each meeting GRSA has approved the running of 11 races at each race meeting so long as there are sufficient nominations to do so.

If 11 races are programmed then there will be no trials during the race meeting due to insufficient kennel space.  This will be implemented immediately to start from the clubs next race meeting.
