Angle Park Preview

Racing News

There looks to be a good sprinkle of racing over three different Distances tonight on the 11 event card at headquarters.   Worm Burner can bounce back and win over the 600m in race 5 and don’t be surprised if the Cameron Butcher kennel has another big night.

Race 1 and the Murray kennel can kick off the night with a win, with last start winner Fast Noodle he kicked up and was far too strong with a slick win here last week.  Dodger I Am appears a big chance along with the pacey Peejay Jack.  Box Up 2.3.4.8

Race 2 and I like the inside three here, all are very strong but can be hit and miss on box rise so for mine it will be who has the luck to the first corner. We can add the pacey Irinka Grant who has been racing well over the short.  Box Up 1.2.3.5 for value.

The 3rd and we will go with the pacey Wave To Kirra in this from box 8.  She is ultra-consistent and should be able to open up a handy lead down the back.  Starling Bale will be charging home late along with Dana Jorja.  Box Up 1.5.7.8.

The 4th this appears an open affair and I’m hoping Ritza Jordan can begin a bit better down in box 3 and with a bit of luck would be right in the mix.  Kansas Bale is in the powerful Rasmussen kennel and is well drawn out in box 8 and should start the punters elect.  Box Up 2.3.6.8.

This is a quality 600m event and as mentioned before Worm Burner started a very short priced favourite at his debut and had to overcome early trouble to run a strong 4th, from the wide draw he will be a lot closer early and should take a power of beating.  We can add Mija Returns from the Chegia kennel along with Billy Blue Eyes.  Box Up 3.4.7.8.

Race 6 and he returned to the winners circle here last week and that is Galilee Spirit.  He pinged the lids and led them a merry dance for a strong 29.93 win.  On that effort he looks the measuring stick again.  Zipping Spice has her paw on the till and is a must for trifecta punters.  Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 7 and we tipped her last start and she wasn’t disgraced when 4th behind Infrit Bale and that is Nit Noi, so I won’t jump off just yet and give her another chance.  Lucky Road is well drawn and will be an improver along with Flying Mal.  Box Up 1.4.5.7.

The flying Mrs Bubbles is in terrific form for the Payne kennel with 3 wins on the trot here at headquarters.  So she looks very hard to beat again on a slick BON win in 29.43 and a personal best for the El Grand Senor sprinter.  So we will make her a stand out in race 8, 6 from 1.5.8 Boxed.

Race 9 and this is the distance affair with only a handful of runners, but as in recent weeks there is one that bobs up at each way value.  I will go with Ulala Bale as he hasn’t missed a place here in his last 5 starts.  So he will be my top pick, add Crisis Bale and Lobo Loco for a $1.00 trifecta in order. 4.1.6

The 10th and I am going with the speedy Ya Welcome out in box 6.  She is a flying machine over the short and we can only hope she pinches a big break in a bold front running display and holds on.  In A Bottle is strong and is dropping back from a 600m event last start, we can add Fear The Rascal who  is on song on the country tracks.  Box Up 2.3.5.6.

The Final event,  race 11 and there are a couple of main chances here but the Butcher kennel has the more than handy Penny Maker down in box 3.  She should be able to hold the early lead and bounce back into the winners circle.  Ritza Connor is always around the mark and will give this a big shake.  Box Up the inside brigade 1.2.3.4.

THE RAZLDAZL LAUNCHING PAD

Again this year the Sandown GRC offered sweepstakes tickets into the Launching Pad Series. There were 96 tickets sold and this has enabled them to increase their prizemoney for the race to an unbelievable $460,000 over three weeks with $155,000 for first, $43,000 for second and $20,000 for third.

There are special conditions on the race being greyhounds that have won between 1 and 6 races and have not had more than 30 starts. The heats will be run at Sandown over the 515m on Thursday 10th March, the semi finals on Thursday 17th March with the $220,000 final run on Thursday 2nd April.

Greyhound Racing SA was able to secure a ticket and will give one of our greyhounds the opportunity to compete in this lucrative series. We will run a heat and final series to determine who will make the Launching Pad heats on 10th March.

Our heats will be run on Wednesday 17th February over the 515m at Angle Park for greyhounds that have won 1-4 races and no more than 28 starts. The heats will be worth $860 and will be Non Penalty events. The final will be run at Angle Park on Thursday 25th February over the 515m with prizemoney of $4,415 and will also be Non Penalty.

The winner of the final will take their spot in the Launching Pad heats two weeks later however if the winner for whatever reason cannot take their spot then the next qualified greyhound will be given that spot.

It’s a terrific concept by the Sandown GRC and gives an opportunity for those less experienced greyhounds a chance to race for big prizemoney.

GRSA has restricted the series to 1-4 wins and 28 starts incase a greyhound wins both the heat and final so this will still keep them eligible. We have also made our final two weeks before the Launching Pad heats at Sandown giving the trainer an opportunity to get across the border and trial for the big race.

PATHWAY RACING UNDERWAY

The next lot of Pathway races will be at Gawler on Sunday 31st January.  The Pathway races will be run at normal prizemoney for the first 3 months and then flattened stakemoney for the next 3 months giving us a 6 month trial period. Please check out below for full conditions of “Pathway Racing”

  • Wednesday 10th February 2016 at Angel Park (Provincial 2)
(Nominations close with GRSA at 9am on Friday 5th February)
  • Sunday 14th February 2016 at Gawler (Provincial 2)

GAWLER THURSDAY TRIALS TO START AT 7.00AM

After a request from the Gawler GRC the Thursday morning trials will now start at 7.00am.

This starting time change will continue until the end of daylight saving in March 2016.

STRATHALBYN TO TRIAL MAIDEN/GRADE 6 OVER 536M

The Strathalbyn GRC will look to run mixed M/6 fields over the 536m. With the lack of 500m greyhounds this may provide an opportunity for both classes. Preference will still be for a Maiden event 536m however if required these could be mixed. Please make it clear on your nomination if you would like your Maiden greyhound mixed with a Grade 6 over 536m only.
