Angle Park Preview

Racing News

As the first month of the New Year is nearly over the 11 event programme tonight appears an interesting one.  It’s been a tough week on the punt for me but we can bounce back with a couple of good things tonight. The highlights are a very good 600m event which is race 5 on the card and race 7 and 8 that are terrific First 4 events with a bit of value.

Race 1 and I like one here at handy odds and that is Cyclone Clifford out in box 8.  He will be flying home late and we only need an ounce of luck early to start the night on the front foot.  Crisis Bale is a big show with his early pace along with Coorong Kid.  Box Up 1.3.6.8.

Race 2 and there looks several chances in this and they all have early pace.  I will stick with Commentator from box 4.  He has pace and will be right in the mix.  Banker Bale is always a chance so is the well-drawn Footrot Fantasia.  Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 3 and I like the book ends in this, Lukey Chino down in box 1 and Zipping Nelson out in box 8.  They appear the main chances, we can add Hesa Jayclo and Anisa Bale for value.  Box Up 1.4.5.8. in a very good trifecta race.

Galilee Spirit has his paw on the till and from box 1 should be able to hold the early lead and win race 4.  Ritza Raider is a must for the trifecta as he will be carving across early.  Box Up 1.3.4.8 in a good betting affair.

Race 5 the flying Worm Burner looks the measuring stick at his first start over the 600m.  The Cameron Butcher youngster has been crying out for the extra trip and appears a good thing and the first special of the night for us.  Lobo Loco will be running on along with Billy Blue Eyes for value.  Box Up 1.2.4.7.

The 6th and the punters elect should be Embellish down in box 1, but I am going to tip Aston Gatum out in box 7.  He has early speed and is a chance of pinching this.  Getty Bale will be working home late and will add a little value for the trifecta.  Box Up 1.2.4

The 7th and the flying Mrs Bubbles is well drawn out in box 8 and should continue on her winning way again tonight.  Fusaichi Kahn is in outstanding form and is a must for all trifecta punters, add Liam’s Entity who led everywhere bar the post here in the final last week.  Box Up 2.3.4.8

Race 8 What a race this is over the sprint,  Are Ate seems to love this draw with 2 wins here from this draw since transferring from Interstate and his early pace will certainly be an advantage again.  Elite Effort looks a good place bet at odds as he will be running on late.  Box Up 1.4.7.8.

Race 9 and I tipped her last week and that was Nit Noi from the Lauren Harris kennel.  She looks the leader of the inside brigade and with a bit of luck is a chance of pinching this.  Inga Bale is in fine form along with Mighty Quoted.  Box Up 2.3.6.8.

The 10th and this is our second special of the night and that is Farhat Bale, he is flying of late and from box 1 looks a good thing and a stand out.  Fast Noodle will be doing his best work over the last 100m along with Lucky Road, let’s go 1 from 3.4.5.

Race 11 the final event and the Lisa Rasmussen kennel has a bit of a knack of winning the final race.  So we will go with Kansas Bale down in box 1 he should kick up early and prove far too strong and send us home on a winning note.  We can add In The Bazza and another Rasmussen runner in Hallibel Bale.  Box Up 1.2.5.6

Trainers will have to specifically nominate for these races or will be considered for normal races on this program.

Refer to conditions of Pathway Racing eligibility below.

·         Pathway Racing to be run at Angle Park Wednesday meetings and Gawler Sunday meetings initially as part of the trial. Each meeting will be programmed around 1 to 2 weeks apart for the first two months.

·         Prizemoney for these races will be normal Provincial 2 levels for the first 3 months and then will be at flattened stake money levels for the next 3 months during the trial.

·         Pathway Racing events will only be for Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 greyhounds at the track.

·         Winners of these races will take a penalty (When run at Flattened stakemoney these races may be Non Penalty)

·         SA Bred greyhounds will be given preference into these events if nominated

·         Fields will be made up with all trainers first before those trainers with multiple nominations are considered. For example, trainers will go in with 1 dog first then 2, then 3 etc

·         Guarding will occur where possible

·         Initially there will be no feature heats programmed on these specific Pathway Racing meetings

JOHN GRAY FINAL TONIGHT

It’s a huge night of racing on tonight with the running of the $8,565 John Gray Final. This event is for Grade 5 greyhounds over the 515m and has always been well supported by the Industry with 6 heats last week. Who will join last year’s winner My Party, on the honour roll for this year?

A special mention to the AGRC who again are supporting the John Gray Final in 2016 and have been great supporters of this race for many years. Special thanks to local racing identity Ron Johnson who kindly donates a trophy each year for the winning connections.

THE RAZLDAZL LAUNCHING PAD

Again this year the Sandown GRC offered sweepstakes tickets into the Launching Pad Series. There were 96 tickets sold and this has enabled them to increase their prizemoney for the race to an unbelievable $460,000 over three weeks with $155,000 for first, $43,000 for second and $20,000 for third.

There are special conditions on the race being greyhounds that have won between 1 and 6 races and have not had more than 30 starts. The heats will be run at Sandown over the 515m on Thursday 10th March, the semi finals on Thursday 17th March with the $220,000 final run on Thursday 2nd April.

Greyhound Racing SA was able to secure a ticket and will give one of our greyhounds the opportunity to compete in this lucrative series. We will run a heat and final series to determine who will make the Launching Pad heats on 10th March.

Our heats will be run on Wednesday 17th February over the 515m at Angle Park for greyhounds that have won 1-4 races and no more than 28 starts. The heats will be worth $860 and will be Non Penalty events. The final will be run at Angle Park on Thursday 25th February over the 515m with prizemoney of $4,415 and will also be Non Penalty.

The winner of the final will take their spot in the Launching Pad heats two weeks later however if the winner for whatever reason cannot take their spot then the next qualified greyhound will be given that spot.

It’s a terrific concept by the Sandown GRC and gives an opportunity for those less experienced greyhounds a chance to race for big prizemoney.

GRSA has restricted the series to 1-4 wins and 28 starts incase a greyhound wins both the heat and final so this will still keep them eligible. We have also made our final two weeks before the Launching Pad heats at Sandown giving the trainer an opportunity to get across the border and trial for the big race.

GAWLER THURSDAY TRIALS TO START AT 7.00AM

After a request from the Gawler GRC the Thursday morning trials will now start at 7.00am.

This starting time change will continue until the end of daylight saving in March 2016.

STRATHALBYN TO TRIAL MAIDEN/GRADE 6 OVER 536M

The Strathalbyn GRC will look to run mixed M/6 fields over the 536m. With the lack of 500m greyhounds this may provide an opportunity for both classes. Preference will still be for a Maiden event 536m however if required these could be mixed. Please make it clear on your nomination if you would like your Maiden greyhound mixed with a Grade 6 over 536m only.
