Angle Park Preview

Racing News

Tonight’s 11 event programme looks a very interesting night for all concerned.  The main races to look for are races 1, 6, 7 and 8, all are very good betting races with a huge amount of depth so on these events the Trifectas should be nice and wide open with good dividends.

Race 1 and we can kick off with an early winner in Fusaichi Kahn.  He has the pace to lead from the good draw and should take beating.  The main dangers appear to be the ultra-consistent Roscoe’s Entity and Blu Light Banjo.  Box Up 1.2.6.7

Race 2 and the two main contenders look to be Rhynstone Jetta and Cairnlea Lisa.  Both have early pace and should be up the front and run bold races.  We can add in Twist Away who will be running on along with Princely Bogan.  Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 3 and the pacey Yiche might be able to pinch this from box 2.  She is ultra-consistent and a win won’t surprise.  Galilee Spirit will start the punters elect and with an ounce of early luck would be hard to beat.  Box Up 2.4.7.8 in a good betting race.

The 4th is a very open affair so it will be a good First 4 race and we can have a dabble at the trifecta as well.  I like Lucky Road as he should be able to lead the inside brigade.  Emerley Senorita can’t be overlooked as she has her fair share of ability when on song.  Box Up 1.4.5.8.

The 5th and a very strong 600 event but it’s very hard to go past the well performed Abbie’s Girl, she has won her past 4 here and Gawler so she is my top pick again. Freesia Bale will improve from the draw along with Cyclone Clifford who will be rattling home Box Up 1.2.3.7.

Race 6 we will go for value in this in Nit Noi.  She can be hit and miss but on her night can give this a big shake.  Wave To Kirra has a good turn of early speed and is in form as is Wheel Spinner, who is well drawn.  Box Up 1.4.6.8.

Race 7, what a ripper this event will be.  If She’s A Looper leads it would be all over, but on recent Victorian form she has been missing the kick and tracking wide. So we can go with early pace and winning form and that is Crisis Bale.  He has cracked the 30 here at his last two starts so he should be right in the mix, as mentioned before we can’t leave the 2 runner out along with Cash In Looper and Temalor.  Box Up 1.2.4.5.

The 8th and it’s another tough race with plenty of depth.  I am leaving the favourite It’s Classified out of my selections from his poor draw of 5 but if he steps say goodnight as he is all class. Worm Burner has been very impressive in his Melbourne stint and gets the nod for mine.  Mrs Bubbles and the pacey Blurred Lines.   Box Up 3.4.6.8.

Race 9 the distance affair of the night and we saw a HUGE upset here last week when Luna Jinx was beaten by over 15L when a short priced favourite, after being severely checked early.  She can bounce back and be the one to beat.  Ulala Bale won the event last week and can never be left out.   4 from 2.6.8.

Race 10 and the inside brigade look amongst the main chances.  All have early pace and they are hard to split.  We can add Kiola Lachlan out in box 8 as he could be the swooper down the outside.   Box Up 1.2.3.8.

The final event race 11 and we can forget her last start failure when slow out and checked,  Starling Bale.  The wide draw suits so she should send us home on a winning note.  Add in Ifrit Bale who we selected last week and he was a good 2nd at HUGE odds.  Box Up 1.2.5.8.

Trainers will have to specifically nominate for these races or will be considered for normal races on this program.

Refer to conditions of Pathway Racing eligibility below.

·         Pathway Racing to be run at Angle Park Wednesday meetings and Gawler Sunday meetings initially as part of the trial. Each meeting will be programmed around 1 to 2 weeks apart for the first two months.

·         Prizemoney for these races will be normal Provincial 2 levels for the first 3 months and then will be at flattened stake money levels for the next 3 months during the trial.

·         Pathway Racing events will only be for Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 greyhounds at the track.

·         Winners of these races will take a penalty (When run at Flattened stakemoney these races may be Non Penalty)

·         Trainers must nominate for these “Pathway” races to be considered otherwise the grader will grade in normal events. However if a trainer advised ‘Pathway Racing Only” then the grader will only consider for that event. Trainers are advised to put as much information on their nomination to assist the grader.

·         Fields will be selected worst form to best form in the opinion of the Grader. The Order of Preference will not be used for Pathway Racing.

·         Races will be graded on race wins where possible.

·         SA Bred greyhounds will be given preference into these events if nominated

·         Fields will be made up with all trainers first before those trainers with multiple nominations are considered. For example, trainers will go in with 1 dog first then 2, then 3 etc

·         Guarding will occur where possible

·         Initially there will be no feature heats programmed on these specific Pathway Racing meetings

BARGAIN STEEL CENTRE SA SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP HEATS TONIGHT

There are two fabulous heats of the listed Bargain Steel Centre SA Sprint Championship at Angle Park tonight to be run as race 7 and 8.

In the first heat Gun McBain will try and continue his super run of form challenged by the up and coming Crisis Bale along with quality performers Cash In Looper, Temalor and Liam’s Entity. Unfortunately the brilliant She’s A Looper has been withdrawn from injury who probably would have started favourite.

In the second heat we see the clash of Worm Burner and It’s Classified both back from successful trips across the border. They will be challenged by Mighty Quoted, Mrs Bubbles and Blurred Lines.

The first four greyhounds from each heat will qualify for next weeks $22,000 final with the box draw to be conducted oncourse tonight after the running of race 9.

As a promotion for next month’s Greyhound of the Year dinner GRSA has named some of tonight’s races after previous Greyhound of the Year winners. It’s terrific to acknowledge our past champions –

2014 Wild Soul, 2013 Ernie Bung Arrow, 2012 Hope’s Up, 2011 Kalden Mayhem, 2010 Satanic Cash, 2009 Drink Driver, 2008 Quinton Bale, 2007 Scull Murphy and 2006 Miss Spicy.

The Strathalbyn GRC will look to run mixed M/6 fields over the 536m. With the lack of 500m greyhounds this may provide an opportunity for both classes.
