Angle Park Preview

Racing News

I hope you all backed the winner of the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday as it looked a certainty on paper????  Let’s try and bounce back tonight and back a couple for mine at good each way odds.  I am looking for value so we can return a few dollars to the old hip pocket.

Race 1 and the favourite will be Wheel Spinner from the awkward draw of 5, but we can’t leave him out altogether.  I am leaning towards Coorong Kid down in box 2, he can be hit and miss on box rise but will be running on late.  Regal Looper is in form and is another for the top 3.  Box up 1.2.6.7 add the 5 for the placings.

Race 2 and the Troy Murray kennel is on a high at the moment and it should continue with the pacey Aston Coco down in box 1.  She appears well drawn and will take running down, add in Billy Blue Eyes and Nit Noi for the placings.  Box up 1.2.5.7

Race 3 and winning form is good form and Galilee Spirit bounced straight to the front here last start and won in a slick 29.72.  The wide draw is a bonus and he will be very hard to beat again.  Yiche can never be overlooked along with Genghis Kahn.  Box Up 1.3.4.8.

The fourth and the two main chances have drawn awkwardly in box 4 and 5.  Both are in form and will be right in the mix.  Cool Mini can add a bit of value for trifecta punters along with Check Yo Self who will be flying home late.  Box Up 1.4.5.7

The 5th and she looks one of the best bets of the night and that is Emerley Senorita.  She has a good turn of early pace and is well drawn down in box 3.  Earl Bale was a last start winner in good time along with Dodger I Am.  Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 6 and there is a heap of pace in this and we must back the early leader who hopefully will skip away and win, so I am going with Gun McBain as he loves an inside draw and will give this a shake.  Mighty Quoted is well drawn along with Tribal One and Alderley Reform who adds a bit of value.  Box Up 1.2.6.7

Race 7 and Kiss The Hawk was a terrific winner here Monday night when won by a nostril in 29.98, on that run he will be hard to beat.  I like one at a bit of value and that is another last winner in a slick 35.04 over the 600m, Cyclone Clifford.  He only needs a bit of luck early to give this a big shake at handy odds.  Add in Danyo’s Frank for the top 3.  Box Up 1.2.4.5

This is the 731m event and a good one at that and there are at least 5 chances so there should be some value.  The Gavin Harris kennel is flying at the moment and he has Springvale Clint in fine form so he can’t be left out of the trifecta.  Grifter Bale is knocking on the door along with the well performed Ulala Bale.  Box Up 3.4.5.7

Race 9 and if you have seen a dog out of luck it would have to be Match Winner.  He has been in the money in 7 of 8 runs here and hopefully tonight can break through.  The main dangers are Aston Odious and Fabregal.   Box Up 1.2.7.8

The 10th and the Rasmussen kennel have been producing winners every week and Zana Bale should take a power of beating in this.  She can be hit and miss on box rise but is very strong and in an open affair will be hard to beat.  The other chances are Jules Marlow and Just Jackson.  Box Up 1.2.4.5

Race 11 and we should be in front and the two main chances look to be Springvale Byrne and Eduardo, both aren’t very quick early but they appear well suited from their draws.  Box up 1.3.5.7.

2015 MICHAELKRIS REALESTATE GAWLER GOLD CUP – REVIEW

For the second time in 2015 the Gawler Gold Cup was conducted in front of a packed newly developed venue where the big crowd saw a fabulous race.

In February Gun McBain was successful when the venue was officially opened and then on Sunday night It’s Classified for Troy Murray wrote himself into the record books with a brilliant chasing display.

Marlow Brown for Paula Hearnden at only his 6th lifetime start fired out of the boxes to lead the high quality field through the first turn. It’s Classified began slowly from box 2 but quickly mustered along the rails to move to second down the back straight and looked a major threat. Both Scarp Missile and Cash In Looper who looked like challenging for the minor money got into bother off the back straight and put themselves out of the race leaving Marlow Brown and It’s Classified to fight out the finish. It’s Classified knuckled down and ran home far too powerfully for Marlow Brown who was game in defeat. It’s Classified ran a flying 30.79 for the 531m journey but his final section was blistering. Peejay Jack for Robyn Mackellar did a good job holding off the Ben Rawlings trained Placid Planet for third money.

Trainer Troy Murray continued his family’s dominance of the Gawler Gold Cup with Troy now winning the Group 3 feature on 5 occasions with his previous winners being Saxonator 2004, Miss Spicy 2005, Olly Orca 2007 and Kalden Mayhem in 2011. His father Ray has won the Cup on two occasions himself with Grand Illusion winning in 1996 and Criticize in 1999.

It’s Classified is by Velocette out of Abbadale Elle and after Sunday nights success he took his prizemoney to just under $40,000 and the impressive record of 9 wins and 4 placings from his 17 lifetime starts.

A crowd of around 700 people were on hand for the cup final and entertainment for all the family.

The Gawler Sprint Classic final was won Gee Boy for Chris Jaensch while the Gawler Stayers cup was taken out by Springvale Clint trained by Gavin Harris. The Kingsford Hotel Grade 6 feature was won by Mighty Quoted trained by Carole Scott while the SA Country Cup was won by My Excuse for Karen Wittholz representing Gawler.  Lauren Harris with Valladares won the the Cup consolation.

HOT WEATHER POLICY

A reminder to trainers with the hot weather coming to make sure they are aware of the updated conditions relating to the Hot Weather Policy. This policy is available on the GRSA website and also at the track.

2016 GAWLER PRODUCE STAKES

The 2015 Gawler Produce Stakes will be run by GRSA in conjunction with the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club. Once again we will offer guaranteed Final Stakemoney, which will be $22,000. The estimate for the total series prizemoney is $40,000, based on this year’s series. The series is for greyhounds whelped in 2014.

In 2016 we will again be offering additional incentives for trainers to nominate. A bonus will be offered to any greyhound which can win both the Produce Stake and the Gawler Gold Cup.

The jackpot is currently worth $11,000. A jackpot of $1,000 will be added each year until won, when it will revert to $5,000. Mrs Bubbles will be shooting for the jackpot if she can win the Gawler Cup final on Sunday 1st November.

The SA Bred bonus will also be continued; should the winner of the Final be SA bred, there will be a SA Bred bonus of $1,000 to the owner.

The dates for this series will be Heats on Tuesday 28th June 2016, Semi Finals on Tuesday 5th July 2016 and the Final on Sunday 10th July 2016. There will be a breeders bonus of $500 for the winner of the Final and a consolation event also.

GRSA administers the event for the Club, so all payments are to be made to GRSA. The fees are, with the one-off payment option $121.00 or the sustaining option at $33 (first), $55 (second) and $88 (Final).

Nomination Forms will be available shortly, along with the full list of conditions and the payment schedule. We will be sending out forms to those with eligible greyhounds as well as previous supporters of the race.
