TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

It should be a good night for punting as the fields continue to be very wide open so that makes us lean towards the Trifectas and First Fours for value, we have a strong 10 event programme and the kennel to follow is the Rasmussen team who have 20 runners spread throughout the evening.

Race 1 - Worth A Shout is coming of a win here last start and looks well placed again. He has been missing the kick of late which is a bit of a worry but should be running on strongly. Lose Your Blues is the danger and is boxed for a bold showing. Add Peter Lee for the Trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.8

Race 2 - The Troy Murray trained Major Major is knocking on the door, he has been runner up here at both his starts and can nearly lead tonight. Right Exit continues to frustrate the punters having her 23rd run tonight in a Maiden, she is drawn to be in the mix once again. Box Up 1.3.4.6

Race 3 - Hot Sambuca should start the punters elect, he is well drawn and is a lot better than his last start suggests. My Girl Rocks is more than capable, she can be hit and miss on lid rise but is very strong she has good claims at each way odds. Box Up 1.3.5.7

Race 4 - This is a strong 600m event and we must stick with Two Times Twice on his recent form. He led them a merry dance at his past 2 here in good times and is one of the better bets of the night. American Man continues to track wide in his races, he will be doing his best work late. Add Feelin who has been in great form over the sprint for our Trifecta. Box up 1.2.4.7

Race 5 - Looking for a bit of value in this as its very wide open. Dyna Adria is well drawn for the Rasmussen kennel, she is more than capable on her night so we will put her on top. Spring Fair has handy short course form and can add value to our First Four if able to lead. Holy Reign and Could Be Magic are the others who have strong claims. Box up 2.3.4.6

Race 6 - Winning form is good form and its very hard to go past Spring Vinnie in this, he is a very smart performer and will prove hard to beat from the rails draw. Emerley Zero is better than his past 2 suggests and should be included in our First Four. Add Collecting and Tatachilla for value. Box up 1.2.7.8

Race 7 - The Rasmussen team hold all the aces in this event, they have 4 runners engaged in this, What A Whish gets the nod from me as she is well drawn and will be at decent odds, she won here 3 runs back in 30.03 from the same draw. Tornado Alley is back in grade tonight and should be the big improver, he is very capable when on song and will be right in the finish. Box Up 1.5.6.7

Race 8 - Master Chaos resumed with an eye catching run when 2nd over the 455m at Murray Bridge, he loves this venue and is our top pick. Slippers Away has been racing well in easier company, she steps up tonight and can run a cheeky race at odds. Add Matty Mateusz and the pacey Nirimba Pirate for the minors. Box up 1.3.4.6

Race 9 - This is the distance affair of the night and we have a newcomer in the Ben Rawlings kennel in Boom Down, he has won 20 from 60 along with 23 placings including a win at Albion park early last month over the 710m, he should be very hard to beat on debut. My Boy Bean and Sir Truculent for the minors. Box up 1.2.4.8

Race 10 - Veteran trainer Aussie Chegia can send us home on a winning note with Fantastic Flame down in box 2, she has been hit and miss on box rise recently but looks well placed in this. McLaren Dazzler could be the surprise packet if he steps he is very capable on his night and is my roughie at big odds. Box up 2.3.4.7

Best Bets

Race 4 No: 2 - Two Times Twice
Race 6 No: 1 - Spring Vinnie

Best Each Way

Race 3 No: 3 - My Girl Rocks

Best Roughies

MOUNT GAMBIER SATISFACTORY TRIALS

Trainers are advised of a change to the booking of Satisfactory Trials at Mt. Gambier.

Mt Gambier hold trials on Tuesday and Saturday mornings with Satisfactory trials ONLY being conducted on Tuesdays and need to be booked with Barry Shepheard from the Club on 0419 824 512.

At Race meetings Satisfactory trials can be done when less than 12 races.  When there are 12 races these can be considered, however, the trainer will not be able to kennel and must take their greyhounds home straight after the trial. These race day trials will also need to be booked through Barry at the Club. GRSA administration staff will NOT accept these bookings and trainers will be directed to contact Barry Shepheard.

TIME GRADED AND PATHWAY EVENTS (FOR ALL EVENTS)

The GRSA Racing Department wishes to advise of an update to the process of allocating reserves for Time Grading (worst-to-best) meetings.

Currently the Time Grading methodology does not allow for the allocation of reserves to the majority of races, therefore increasing the likelihood of reduced field sizes.
Under the new methodology, greyhounds will be grouped into races according to their Time Rating, including the reserves:
•  8 greyhounds for G-SIX racing (6 in the field plus 2 reserves)
•  10 greyhounds for traditional 8 dog racing (8 in the field plus 2 reserves)

A random draw will then be conducted to determine the two reserve greyhounds.

If only one race then reserves as per Time Rating Rankings. This process is demonstrated in a table available on the GRSA website and Kennel Capers.

This change will be implemented for all Time Grading meetings from 1st January, 2020.

CHANGES TO MOUNT GAMBIER TIME GRADING FROM JANUARY 2020

After consultation with industry and local participants from the Mount Gambier region, GRSA will continue the trial of the Best to Worst format for the Mount Gambier Thursday meetings.

GRSA has made this change to accommodate the strong nominations for this venue and attempting to give all greyhounds of all abilities the opportunity to compete. This will generally be run on a fortnight basis however if there are not 12 races being conducted for all meetings GRSA will consider reviewing this process.
Conditions for the Best to Worst meetings will be based on the greyhounds Time Rating. There will be a limit of 5 as to how fast a greyhound can be rated. Greyhounds rated 4.75 to 1 will not be eligible for this meeting but will be given preference into the Sunday meeting of that week so long as they nominate and there is a race available. Under this format GRSA will be able to include reserves for all races under the dissection of the grader. The more than 50% of fastest rated greyhound eligibility clause will not refer to Best to Worst Time Graded events.
Please contact the GRSA Grader for further information about Time Graded events.
