Angle Park Preview
Greyhound racing doesn’t get any better than the 5 quality Adelaide Cup heats we have tonight. They run from races 4 to 8 on the programme and have a very strong contingent of interstate visitors. The highlight has to be for all greyhound racing enthusiasts in race 8 when we see the outstanding Fernando Bale start from box 3. There are several local runners who have strong claims and are sure to make their home track advantage a bonus. Let’s hope we can snare a few winners throughout the night and we should all look forward to next Fridays Classic Triple M Adelaide Cup final.
Race 1 and we can start with an early winner in Breaker Kahn. He is racing in terrific form of late and this appears a lot easier than his past couple so he should be right in the finish. The main dangers look to be kennel mate Rupert along with the pacey Image Puzzle who is more than capable of pinching this with an ounce of luck. Box Up 1.2.4.7
Race 2 and this is an open affair with several chances, I am leaning towards the pacey My Excuse, he can hunt up early and hold the lead. Zana Bale will be making late ground along with Aussie Noorumba who has been hit and miss on box rise of late. Box Up the inside brigade 1.2.3.4.
Race 3 and a very handy 600m event for the night and I will stick with He’s A Villian from box 1. He copped a check in running and faded to run 4th last week. Tonight he can bounce back from the rails draw. Lobo Loco has been ultra-consistent and has been runner up at his last three at this venue. Box Up 1.3.5.7.
The 4th and the first of the Adelaide Cup heats and a big favourite of mine is out in box 8 in Dyna Double One. He copped more checks than I could possibly count in the Derby final here last month and has been saved for this particular event. Add a blistering BON 29.30 run from this draw back on the 10th of October. He looks the stand out. Percy’s Lad for the Bravo kennel is no stranger to the track and is drawn for a bold showing. Weblec Rose has trialled well here and has a ton of early pace so we will put her in the top 4. Box Up 1.2.6.8
The 5th and the 2nd of the Cup heats and the Derby winner in Fever Pitch is perfectly drawn out where he wants to be out in box 8. He can be a little tardy early but will be winding up down the back and should take a power of beating. Secret Spell can’t be overlooked along with Weston East for a bit of value. Box Up 1.5.7.8
Race 6 and we continue with the heats and the pacey Kayda Shae has a terrific record of 10 wins and 6 placings from just 20 starts. He should ping and win at his debut here in sunny South Australia. Shared Equity is in the powerful Langton kennel and has her fair share of ability and is drawn to run a cheeky race from box 2. Local performer Fusaichi Kahn is down in box 1 and can pinch a place at handy odds. Box Up 1.2.4.6
Race 7 and this looks the most open of the Cup heats with several chances. I will go with Armed And Ready from box 4, he has a more than handy record of 16 wins and 7 placings from 34 starts. He carved out a quick 29.36 win at Sandown last month from box 7 and on that effort will be right in the firing line. Local runner Real Flash out in box 8 is another who can’t be overlooked, she is as quick as all of these when on song but needs to ping the lids for a forward showing. Texas Titan has won 4 from 8 at this venue and the Jeff Britton kennel doesn’t cross the border to have a beer at Glenelg so they are here on a mission. Box Up 2.4.7.8
The final of 5 terrific Classic Triple M Adelaide Cup heats is race 8 and we save the best to last. We are very lucky to see the exciting Fernando Bale grace the Angle Park loam. He oozes class and the Andrea Daily kennel has him firing on all fours. He is nicely drawn down in box 3 and will start a very short priced favourite so he is the obvious stand out. Weblec Belle is a good chance to pinch a place along with It’s Classified so we will go 3 from 4.7.8 Boxed.
Race 9 and the Troy Murray kennel rarely goes home without a winner so Van Carrho Flash looks a good thing. He is in fine form and the wide draw of 6 shouldn’t be a worry. Yiche has a good turn of pace and is a must for all trifecta punters. Genghis Kahn will be rattling home as usual and if there is a little trouble early he can surprise. Box Up 2.4.5.6
Race 10 and I am going with value in this event and that is Excusez Moi, she has pace and is strong at the right time. The other big dangers are Shot of Fear and Hesa Jayclo who are all more than capable. Box Up 1.2.3.6
The final event and this is a good one to snare as there is at least four main chances. So we will go to the wide runners in Starling Bale and Billy McLaren, both have pace and can carve across and be in the mix. Add in Spring Jessica from box 1 for value along with Atkin Bale. Box Up 1.3.6.7

It is hoped that the slipping track will assist metropolitan trainers for many years to come and provide a replacement for previously available public slipping tracks around inner Adelaide. GRSA will continue to focus on providing easily accessible and well maintained training and trialling infrastructure for participants.
With access to the Slipping Track being restricted the side access gait to the Trainers Car Park will be locked outside of normal business hours which will mean no access to the out of hours nominations box.
ANNUAL GRADING REVIEW MEETING – 6th NOVEMBER
On November 6th GRSA will be conducting the Grading Review Panel meeting. This review is conducted annually and aims to provide a comprehensive and formalised process with objectives being an improved grading system, enhanced review of rules and policies, reduced grading complaints and increased participant satisfaction with the system.
Prior to this meeting, agenda items will be sought by way of industry consultation.
This will be by way of consultation sessions at meetings, dealing specifically with grading items and also correspondence from participants.
The consultation sessions will be as follows:
Sunday 11th October Strathalbyn
Monday 12th October Angle Park
Tuesday 13th October Gawler
Friday 16th October Mount Gambier
These sessions will begin shortly after kennelling starts on these dates.
It would be appreciated if you look at the big picture of grading, considering items such as policy, programming, order of preference, grades, OzChase etc.
We will also be asking for submissions from our Racing Clubs regarding grading from their perspective so we will hopefully have all topics considered.
Based on all the information collected an agenda will be formulated in late October and sent to the Grading Review Panel to be discussed at the review.
