Angle Park Preview

Racing News

It looks to be an interesting night of racing with 4 strong heats of the Coffex Coffee SA Oaks.  Coffex Coffee has been an extremely good supporter of this event over the years.  Tonight we see a sprinkle of interstaters and locals compete. The heats are races 3 to 6 on the programme.

Race 1 and Kiss The Hawk hasn’t put a paw wrong since transferring to SA and there is no reason why he can’t make it 3 from 3.  Grifter Bale is back in distance and is drawn for a bold showing down in box 1 and will be charging home.  Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 2 and Real Flash will be very hard to beat for trainer Troy Murray, she has returned to her best form in her past couple and should start a very short priced favourite.  The newcomer in Temalor for the Jovanovic kennel was very impressive over the short and has claims.  Box Up 2.3.7.8

Race 3 and this is the first heat of the Oaks and Andrea Dailly doesn’t cross the border for the weather, she always has a smart performer in the kennel so we must put Elfen Bale on top.  Another interstater Camden Valleyway trialled well and has very good credentials and will be right in the mix.  Add in Mepunga Treasure for the trifecta.  Box Up 2.3.4.7

Race 4 and this has a good sprinkle of interstaters in it and they all look to have a chance.  The favourite should be Rowdy Ronda out in box 6 as she was a smart winner at Cranbourne last start.  We can’t leave out the WA performer Jamaica The Fun from the red and local Lady Xanthe has a chance.  Box Up 1.3.6.8

Race 5 and if you are looking for class Angie Rocks is a star performer.  She has won 10 of 23 and has 7 placing’s beside her name and from box 1 looks very hard to beat.  Mepunga Rosie can fill a place so can Headline.  Box Up the inside 4 1.2.3.4

The final of the Oaks heats, Race 6 and I am going with a local in Mrs Bubbles.  She has been freshened for this and if anywhere near her best form will take a power of beating.  Cosmic Owl is well drawn and is a big hope along with Flash Focus.  Box up 1.4.6.8

Race 7 and if you are looking for class watch Dyna Double One scorch the track.  He is all class and is very hard to tip against so we will make him a stand out.  Lets go with 2 from 6.7.8 Boxed.

Race 8 and the Wendy Matcott trained Fraya Bale charged home to score here last start from box 4 and appears a chance again from the rails draw.  Black Bottle has pace and can lead here for a long way.  We can’t leave out Mcray despite his poor draw of 4.  Box Up 1.2.4.6

The 9th and Marley Bale should top off a terrific night for interstate trainer Andrea Dailly.  He has only had a handful of starts and has been super impressive so he is a must.  Add in Rellim Allan for value along with Ifrit Bale who can pinch a place.  Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 10 and this looks a race in 2 between Yiche and Van Carrho Flash.  Both will be very hard to beat and it will be a matter of who jumps the best.  So I will go with Yiche.  Box Up 2.6.7.8 in a very good race.

The final event and I like a good each way chance in this in Wayne’s Error.  He is better suited over more ground and can be very hit and miss early but this is a very open affair.  Dyna Fatbob has the draw and will be right in the finish.  We can’t leave out He Isn’t Really as he is dropping in grade.  Box Up 1.4.5.8

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

2015 COFFEX COFFEE OAKS – HEATS

Spring racing really heats up tonight with four heats of the Coffex Coffee Oaks with some of the best young female chasers in the country competing to make it through to the Group 3 final next week.

Last year the series was dominated by the interstate raiders with 20 of the 32 greyhounds coming from across the border. This year SA holds the upper hand with 16 of the 29 greyhounds nominated however they have come from all over Australia to try and claim the SA Oaks.

The first heat on Thursday night is race 3 on the card due to jump at 7.25pm (SA time) and features the well credentialed Elfen Bale from the powerful Victorian kennel of Andrea Dailly. She has won 13 races from 39 starts with prizemoney over $100,000 and her feature performances include victory in the Group 3 Ladies Bracelet at Wentworth Park in May and 3rd placing behind super star Fernando Bale in the Group 1 Peter Mossman Classic in June.

The second heat which is race 4 on card features plenty of early dash with local Lady Xanthe for Bill Wudarczyk looking to make it three wins on the trot. She possesses blistering early speed so from box 3 she should be right near the pointy end early. She has won 9 of her 19 lifetime starts and looks like she is right back to her best for this series.

In heat 3 local SA fans will get to see star Victorian sprinter Angie Rocks for trainer Mario Briganti up close and personal as she has drawn perfectly in box 1 and looks set to take all before her in the Oaks series. She won the Group 1 Sapphire Crown at Sandown in May and has matched it with the best Free For All sprinters in her home state. She has won 10 of her 23 starts with almost $100,000 in prizemoney and looks very hard to beat.

Race 6 on the card due to jump at 8.28pm (SA time) is the fourth and final SA Oaks heat and looks the most even on paper. Local fans will be hoping Mrs Bubbles for Matthew Payne continues on her winning ways which saw her win the Gawler Produce Final back in July in brilliant fashion. She has won 15 of her 34 starts and after a slight injury setback last start she looks the best chance for SA in the series.

The first two from each heat will qualify for next weeks final with the two fastest third placegetters declared reserves. We will conduct the box draw on track tonight after the running of race eight. Next Thursday night’s Coffex Coffee Oaks Final carries a total purse of $35,000, with the winner to receive $25,000 in the Group Three event.

2015 BGC INDUSTRIAL CLEANING SUPPLIES SA DERBY - PREVIEW

Local fans tonight will be in for a treat with outstanding greyhounds racing and trialling in a lead up to the Group 3 BGC Industrial Cleaning Supplies SA Derby series starting on Thursday 10th September.

Victorian trainer Andrea Dailly not only has a strong hand in the Oaks heats but she is also racing two of her greyhounds in a lead up to the SA Derby series. In race 7 tonight (8.52pm) outstanding sprinter Dyna Double One will start a very short priced favourite at his final hit out before the Derby series. He is a winner of over $230,000 in prizemoney with 17 wins and 12 placings from just 32 starts. Whilst Dyna Double One is at the peak of his powers Marley Bale is just starting out. He is engaged in race 9 due to start at 9.35pm (SA time) however the kennel seems to have a good opinion of him with only having 4 starts to his name. He has won two and placed on the other two occasions and ran a brilliant 29.45 at Sandown to win his maiden. He looks a greyhound of the future.

This afternoon due to flight arrangements the highly promising Blazin’ Bomber will trial at Angle Park trained by Darren Pattinson. He is a winner of 10 of his 12 starts and was brilliant last start in defeating an outstanding field in the Cranbourne Puppy Classic which included the likes of Kayda Shae and Dyna Double One. He has a 29.28 win to his name at Sandown and a 29.60 win at the Meadows. It will be very interesting to see what sort of time he can post.

Tonight during the meeting WA star chaser Fun Boss for trainer Lexie Isaac will also trial. He has won over $100,000 in prizemoney with 15 wins from 28 starts. He won the Group 2 WA Derby and started favourite in the WA final of the National Sprint Championships.

GRAHAM SANDFORD FUNDRAISER

In March 2012 Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) 33 year veteran employee Graham Sandford suffered a severe stroke to the left side of his brain. This resulted in damage to the right side of his body. Some of the effects of the stroke were aphasia and dyspraxia (speech problems).

In 2014 the South Australian government reduced speech therapy for brain injuries to a maximum of 12 weeks. In order to continue this progress GRSA has committed to throwing its support behind funding private therapy for Graham for another 12 months.

Prior to starting therapy Graham couldn't put two words together; however he is now making real progress. He has rediscovered his confidence and now makes conversation with people. He is more outgoing even to the point of ordering coffee for himself. Graham has an excellent relationship with his therapist and relishes her visits and the continued therapy. He even does his homework without a murmur.

Graham started work with GRSA in 1979 and was working as Deputy Steward until his stroke. He is aged 65 and he and his wife Debbie are looking forward to a healthy future enjoying time with their family and two grandchildren.

With an aim to raise $10,000 GRSA is auctioning off a collection of sporting memorabilia in support of Graham’s therapy. Caufield Cup silks and an Eddie Merckx signed Tour Down Under jersey are a couple of the items available. You can view the entire list and photos on the GRSA website at www.grsa.com.au. Items have been available for auction on eBay from Monday 31 August 2015.

Our first Auction was conducted last year in 8 years and already the first winner has come to hand. The Ken Gill trained Ruff State won on debut last month and was an unlucky second yesterday at Angle Park.  He is out of Elite State x Lektra Snap and was bought through the sale for $2,800. He is well on his way to repaying his connections by winning $705 in his first two starts and we wish them every success in the future.

LOCAL RULE CHANGES - Effective 1st September 2015

Effect of disqualification, suspension, warning off or being declared a defaulter

LR89A(SA)

A person who is disqualified, warned off, suspended or declared to be a defaulter shall, during the period of the penalty, forfeit all Breeders Bonuses. In the event of joint or multiple persons the percentage of Breeder Bonus payable to the disqualified, warned off, suspended or defaulter will be forfeited.

CHANGE IN PAPERWORK FOR PRIZEMONEY

From 1st September 2015 the paperwork for directing prizemoney will change. In the past the paperwork refers to the owner directing where which account the prizemoney goes. GRSA has had no option but to direct all greyhounds owned by that person into their specific account. From 1st September the paperwork will refer to the greyhound so this will provide flexibility for each owner to have different conditions (if required) for each greyhound.

For example if an owner has 10 dogs with prizemoney all going into the same account under the same conditions then they only need to fill out one form naming all 10 greyhounds however if there are 10 different agreements for these greyhounds then they will need to complete 10 different forms for each dog.

As previously advised it is up to the owner of the greyhound to ensure prizemoney paperwork has been lodged prior to the greyhound racing to ensure payment is made correctly.

**All existing prizemoney accounts remain the same unless directed by the owners and updated account information is provided**
