Angle Park Preview

Racing News

Congratulations to both Ben Rawlings and Petar Jovanovic on their wins with their respective greyhounds in the State final here last week.  Good luck at the Nationals when you fly the SA flag. The highlights on tonight’s programme are race 3, the distance race and a very strong 600m event, race 5.  Good luck for another terrific night of racing.

Race 1 and the two main chances look to be Lucky Road and Dutch Stryker.  Both have a good turn of early pace and should figure in the top 3.  Add in Dr. Kiaralee for a bit of value down in box 1.  Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 2 and this is a wide open affair and a must for trifecta and first 4 punters.  If you go with the box draws, go with Macmarcus and Jeddy Bale from box 1 and 8.  Both have been racing well and look hard to beat.  Tahlo is another who hasn’t missed a cheque of late and will be powering home.  Box up 2.5.6.8

The 3rd and this is a distance affair and Luna Jinx should bounce back tonight.  She thundered home here last week in the state final with a strong third.  The small field is a bonus so she is my top pick.  Grifter Bale will set the pace out in the pink but will need to open up a big break to pinch this so we will go for a $1 trifecta in order, 2.8.1

The 4th and the pacey Yiche should win again for trainer Angela Modra.  She showed them a clean set of paws here last week when leading all the way in a handy 30.10 and should prove too good again.  Galaxy Snow will be running on late along with Sugar Ray Lee.  So we will make Yiche a stand out in the trifecta, 3 from 1.5.6 boxed.

Race 5 and this is a top class 600m event with the pacey Placid Planet in box 4.  He is unbeaten over this trip in 3 starts and has a personal best of 34.72.  Genghis Kahn can be hit and miss on box rise but will be rattling home late.  Add in He’s A Villian who is more than capable when on song.  Box Up 2.4.7.8

Race 6 and the punters elect will be Danyo’s Dabby out in box 8.  His last win was from this draw 5 starts back in 30.06 and that would be good enough to score again.  I like Woodside Jagger at eachway odds down in box 2.  He has been running on well in his races and is more than capable with a bit of luck early.  Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 7 number 7 Antonia Tyson should get the chocolates in this event on his last start effort when he was a strong 2nd behind Gunsmoke McBain.  Oran Bale is dropping back in distance and can’t be overlooked along with Sandave Gem down in box 1.  Box Up 1.2.7.8

The 8th and this is the FFA event over the sprint and a classy one at that.  Young Gun McBain is well drawn out wide and can bounce from his last week defeat in the sprint final.  Breaker Kahn and the pacey Valladares are a chance and we can’t leave Mobius out of the trifecta as she flew home over the final stages last week.  Box Up 2.5.7.8

Race 9 and this is one of the better bets of the night and that is Disaaci for the Quinlivian kennel.  He carved out a slick win here last start from box 5 and looks hard to beat again.  Rellim Allan is always a chance as is Blu Light Banjo.  Box up 3.5.7.8

The final event race 10 and Oaky Doaks can send us home on a winning note for the Wayne Ryan kennel.  His recent racing has been at Gawler and he looks amongst the main chances.   Meatball has only had 3 starts for 2 wins so he is a must for the top 3 along with Miss Everdeen for value.  Box Up 1.2.7.8

SPUD REGIS @ STUD TO SPONSOR RACE MEETING ON 27TH AUGUIST

The Angle Park meeting on Thursday 27th August will be sponsored greyhound sire Spud Regis with all races on the program named after the Group 1 winning sprinter. As a bonus to connections of each winner on the night they will receive a free service to Spud Regis which must be used within a 12 month period after the race meeting. This sponsorship for this night is worth more than $10,000 so we thank Brian Treloar and those associated with Spud Regis. It is anticipated that around the same time there will be meetings in NSW, Tasmania and Victoria with the same offering for each race on the night.

GAWLER SHOW DATES

August means that it is coming up to Gawler Show time, so a couple of weeks of racing at Gawler will be transferred to Angle Park this year.

This year the Annual Gawler Show will be held on the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August. Racing on Tuesday 25th August and Tuesday 1st September will be at Angle Park. These will be Angle Park Provincial (APD) fixtures with normal Tuesday prizemoney and will be raced with the Finish On Lure. Racing on Friday 28th August will be at Mount Gambier.

Trials will be cancelled at Gawler on Wednesday 26th August and Thursday 27th August. We will hopefully have the track ready to trial again on Wednesday 2nd September, but this will be dependent on the weather over the show weekend. There will be no Qualifying Trials at Gawler on Wednesday 19th August, as the following Tuesday is at Angle Park. There will be trials as per normal at Angle Park on Tuesday 25th August and Saturday 29th August.

BARGIN STEEL CENTRE AS A NEW SPONSOR
