Angle Park Preview

Racing News

The big highlight of tonight’s racing is the 2015 Champion Puppy final which is race 8 on the programme with a more than handy $6,000 to the winner.  We see a smart field of youngsters who should all go on and have a handy future. Sunday Shoes is flying at the moment and fronts up in race 5 from box 4.  She has been spacing her rivals of late and should show us how quick the track is.

Race 1 and there are some hit and miss beginners in this.  I will go with the 7 runner, He Isn’t really.  He blew the start here last week but was in fine form prior.  Footluce Diva is very smart over the 600m but drops back to the sprint here.  She is a must for the trifecta’s.  Box up 2.3.5.7

Race 2 and there is a lot of pace in this and the Karen Wittholz trained My Excuse has the draw to salute.  He made good late ground last run behind the smart Mrs Bubbles and looks a stand out here.  Scottish Thistle is another who is on song and can’t be overlooked.  Box Up 1.4.7.8

Race 3 and Angela Modra puts the polish on Yiche and she has won her last 5 here and at Gawler.  With her blistering early pace she will be very hard to tip against.  The place getters should come from Point Made and the Troy Murray trained Van Carrho Flash.  Box Up 1.5.6.8

The 4th and this is a wide open affair with several chances.  The punters elect should be the 3 runner, Hesa Jayclo as he is in fine form but I will add in Ima Lonely Boy and Ifrit Bale.  Box Up 1.3.5.7 in a good betting race.

The 5th and how good is Sunday Shoes going.  She has won her past couple here by HUGE margins in quick times and Nathan Wilson has her firing big time.  So she is the stand out.  We will go with 4 from 1.2.8. boxed.

Race 6 and the two hardest to beat here are Peejay Jack and Young Gun McBain.  Both have a good turn of early pace so they are very hard to split.  Genghis Kahn will be flying home late along with Lucky Road out wide.  Box Up 2.3.4.8

The 7th and we will stick with him for another week and that is Barnes Bay.  He looked the winner here last start and went down by a long neck from box 7.  Let’s hope he needed the run.  Mcray has strung 3 wins together and can’t be overlooked.   Box Up 1.5.7.8

The Champion Puppy final and the two BIG chances are the very smart Rhynstone Jetta trained by Martin Doyle down in box 1, and It’s Classified for the Murray kennel out in box 6.  He has been burning up the track of late and has a personal best of 29.53. Now who can win??  Well it’s hard to go past the latter on times but we all know in finals anything can happen but I will stick with the 6 runner.  Add in the 1 along with the 4 and the 8 in a terrific race.  Good luck.

Race 9 and another good betting affair and that’s what we should be doing by now and that is backing winners.  So we should have a wager on Cosmic Shez down in box 3.  She has a good turn of early pace and appears the likely leader.  Margaret Keeping bounced back with a win here last start and is a must for the top 3 again.  Add in Fast Noodle who will be rattling home.  Box Up 2.3.5.6

Race 10 and the Jovanovic kennel can finally break through with their runner in Rellim Allan.  He has been very hit and miss of late and should be good each way odds.  Blu Light Banjo was a big winner here last start in 30.10 and will be right in the mix.  Box Up 1.3.5.7

The Final event on a good programme is race 11 and Holeshot Hero can send us home on a winning note from box 1.  She can be tardy early but should be right in the mix.  Dancing Brett looks the improver along with Bianca Bale who is working back to best form.  Box Up 1.2.6.8

TODD GRAY PREVIEW – 2015 CHAMPION PUPPY FINAL

2015 CHAMPION PUPPY FINAL

What a great field we have on Thursday night with so much future potential and depth. The Murray kennel supplies half the field here, Troy with 3 (Aston Tulloch, Aston Eclipse and the favourite It’s Classified) and father Ray with the very smart Von Dousa. Von Dousa in his semi final lobbed second to Aston Tulloch which was well supported on the Ubet tote and proved far too strong over the concluding stages. He won’t mind it drawn out wide in box 8 and looks a big player in the final.  Troy had absolutely no joy in the box draw with his 3 runners coming up with boxes 4, 5 and 6. It’s Classified will be and deserves to be favourite, he ran 29.53 two weeks ago before winning his semi final with ease but will have to overcome the box draw in a hot field. The main threat to the Murrays taking out another feature race is the Martin Doyle trained Rhynstone Jetta who has the beautiful inside draw and is my tip to lead and make it hard for the favourite. He will run you 29.80 in front and will prove no easy task to get around.  Raglan Gun who has drawn 3 will jump well and run wide helping the inside two greyhounds and looks a good place chance with Nit Noi and Macmarcus first 4 possibilities.

The first turn will tell the story here, who will lead out of Rhynstone Jetta and It’s Classified? How close will Von Dousa settle and will Raglan Gun cause any trouble with her wide running ways? Good race and good luck to all involved.

METRES PER SECOND ON THE SEMAPHORE BOARD

Recently GRSA was queried as to why the metres per second figure displayed on the Semaphore Board at Angle Park were incorrect. This was confirmed that it wasn’t separating each distance however after a new chip had been replaced for the Semaphore Board this (M/S) time is now accurately calculated.

UPDATED BREEDING RULES FROM 1ST JULY

From the 1st July there will be new breeding rules in place regarding the Registration of a Breeding Female, reporting of Litters and Breeding Restrictions. The Breeding Female is to do with registering your bitch for a Pink Card before you breed from her. She needs to be DNA tested and registered before she can breed. The changes to rules make it clear that all paperwork and processes have to be completed before she can be inseminated. Please update yourself with the new conditions in kennel capers, on the GRSA website or contact GRSA Animal Welfare Officer Belinda Pearce.

RACING IN QUEENSLAND

If you are intending to race in Queensland there will be a requirement for interstate trainers to sign a Statutory Declaration prior to nominating a greyhound from 1 July 2015.

Racing Queensland has advised that people are at liberty to submit alternative declarations for consideration by RQ. These forms are available from GRSA and will be available on the GRSA website for participants shortly. Please contact me for any assistance if traveling to Queensland.
