Angle Park Preview

Racing News

Well it looks to be a night where we could snare a couple of handy trifecta’s as the grader has done an exceptional job with several even races.  So there are no real stand outs in a couple of the sprint races. The highlight will be race 8 and we see the inform Placid Planet jump from box 1 over the 600m.  He won by a massive 13L here last week in a slick 34.72.  It wouldn’t surprise me if he goes quicker tonight if the track is on song. If you have a lucky number between 1 and 8 get on box 2 as I have tipped it to win the first 4 races.

Race 1 and Vadim Roz rarely goes home without a winner and Young Gun McBain should kick the kennel off to a flying start.  He is in form and from box 2 will be very hard to beat.  Big Zap as always will be running on along with Sandave Gem for value.  Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 2 and winning form is good form so get on Princely Bogan.  He has a good turn of early pace and will be right in the finish.  Mordor Bale will start the punters elect and is the obvious danger.  Box Up 1.2.4.8

This is the first of the 600m events and it appears a match race in two with He’s A Villian and Kalden Gambino in box 2.  Both have different racing styles so I will still stick with box 2, but not by much.  Box Up 1.2.5.8

The 4th and yes the last of my box 2’s that can salute and that is Lucky Road for the Jovanovic kennel.  He led throughout here last start from the same draw to win and should be able to back it up again tonight.  Banjo Blaze is well boxed in the red and she will be rattling home to pinch a place.  Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 5 and this is a very good betting race with several chances and there is a lot of early pace to the first turn.  I will stick with Bambi Boucheau who will be running on.  She keeps on improving.  Cosmic Shez has pace and looks the likely leader.  Rellim Allan is hit and miss but is more than capable of surprising.  Box Up 1.3.5.7

Race 6 and Margaret Keeping gets her chance to bounce back into the winners circle.  She has moderate beginners directly on her inside and if she steps will be hard to beat.  Jaunty Bale will be running on late to pinch a place along with Breaker Kahn down in box 1, who should be handy early.  Let’s go with 1.4.5.8 boxed.

The 7th and we have missed the odds on this one, Woodnear has pace early and with 2 wins from his last 3 starts should carve across them again and prove too good.  Peejay Jack has his fair share of ability and can’t be overlooked at each way odds.  Box Up 2.3.4.7

Race 8 and he will be very short but looks far too good again and that is Placid Planet.  He should lead and win.  Let’s go with him as a stand out 1 from 4.6.7 boxed

Race 9 and I hate to put the kiss of death on trainers but the Rawlings kennel should have a treble after Grifter Bale wins this event.  He bounced back here last start and won by over 5L and looks too strong again.  Zara McLaren returns and should strip fitter from her last start.   Let’s go 1 from 2.4.6

The 10th and Yiche keeps on winning for Angela Modra.  She has won 4 from 5 and with her pace appears the top selection again out in box 8.  Dyna Andy is a chance of finishing in the top 3 along with Danyo’s Luke who can be the value runner.  Box Up 3.4.6.8

Race 11 and the ultra-consistent Ritza Star has won his past 3 here all in good times and looks well suited by the wide draw again.  Point Made is more than capable with an ounce of luck along with Viral Bale.  Box Up 2.3.7.8

FANCY RICK WINS PORT AUGUSTA CUP FINAL

The Port Augusta Greyhound Racing Club had a huge meeting last Saturday with the running of the 2015 Port Augusta Cup final. The final was worth $3,000 and supported by the Port Augusta City Council. Fancy Rick for trainer John Shanahan took out the event running a slick 28.80 for the 503m journey defeating Essay Spok for Ben Rawlings by 1 length with Full Beer Fridge for Roger Harris (last years winner) a further length away in third. Fancy Rick has now won 24 races from 55 starts and prizemoney in access of $37,000.

MRS BUBBLES TAKES OUT THE GAWLER PRODUCE FINAL

Last Sunday night Mrs. Bubbles for trainer Matthew Payne made it 4 wins on the trot when she took out the rich Gawler Produce Final in blistering fashion defeating Wheel Spinner by over 3 lengths with Here Comes Henry back in third place. Part owners Andy Peden and John Cunningham were delighted with the result with Matthew Payne recently taking over the training of the exciting prospect. In last week’s semi-finals Mrs Bubbles went within .1 of the track record and on Sunday night she again went brilliant time running 30.43 for the 531m journey. She collects almost $15,000 for her win and looks a real prospect heading into our feature carnival later in the year.

Also on the program Aston Magic for Troy Murray took out the Gawler Produce Consolation running a handy 31.15 while Cash In Looper showed his true potential with an all the way victory again for the Murray kennel in the Gawler Anniversary Cup. He ran a sizzling 30.25 for the 531m journey in winning by over 5 lengths. He was only .02 outside of Region Image’s track record of 30.23 set on 1st July 2003.

UPDATED BREEDING RULES FROM 1ST JULY

From the 1st July there will be new breeding rules in place regarding the Registration of a Breeding Female, reporting of Litters and Breeding Restrictions. The Breeding Female is to do with registering your bitch for a Pink Card before you breed from her. She needs to be DNA tested and registered before she can breed. The changes to rules make it clear that all paperwork and processes have to be completed before she can be inseminated. Please update yourself with the new conditions in kennel capers, on the GRSA website or contact GRSA Animal Welfare Officer Belinda Pearce.

RACING IN QUEENSLAND

If you are intending to race in Queensland there will be a requirement for interstate trainers to sign a Statutory Declaration prior to nominating a greyhound from 1 July 2015.

Racing Queensland has advised that people are at liberty to submit alternative declarations for consideration by RQ. These forms are available from GRSA and will be available on the GRSA website for participants shortly. Please contact me for any assistance if traveling to Queensland.
