Angle Park Preview
When it looks easy on paper it normally turns out to be a tough night, but let’s hope everything falls into place and we back a winner or two. There are several open races and we might able to snare a couple at handy odds. The highlights are the two stayer’s events, race’s 3 and 4 on the programme and they should make for an interesting final here next week.
Race 1 and we can kick off with a winner in Placid Planet. He goes well from the inside and with a tardy beginner on his left should prove very hard to beat. Freesia Bale will be the improver and is a must for the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.5.7
Race 2 and there will be no excuse if the Karen Wittholz trained My Excuse is beaten. He is in outstanding form over the short and should ping and win from box 3. The main dangers will be the run on types in General Hap and Long Gully Mark. Box Up 1.2.3.6
The 3rd and this is the first of the stayer’s events and I like Zipping Bart for Jarrod Murray. He has the pace to jump to the front over the journey and has won 3 of his 5 starts over the 731m. Springvale Clint is the big danger and is a must for the First 4. Add in Zara McLaren and Manila Express. Box Up 1.2.3.8
The 4th and the second of the Stayers heats and if Grifter Bale is close to his best he will take a power of beating in the small field. Ash Flash is the big danger and is working towards a win here over this trip. Box Up 1.4.5.7
Race 5 and she is very hard to tip against and that is Optic Shimmer. She has won her past 8 on the trot for the Mackellar kennel and looks set to win again. The dangers look to be the inside three, so we will go 6 from 1.2.3.boxed.
The 6th and Alex’s Entity will start the punters elect and so he should on recent form with three slick wins here from his 4 starts at this venue, BUT one at very good odds is Young Gun McCain out in box 8 and is a chance of crossing these with a bit of LUCK. Box Up 1.4.5.8 and I will definitely be having a couple of dollars on the 8.
The 7th and this is a good even race with several chances. I will go with Genghis Kahn as he will be handy early and should run home over the top of them from box 1. Big Zap is another who is capable and a win wouldn’t surprise with an ounce of luck early. Box Up 1.3.5.8
Race 8 and we tipped him last week and he led early before being run down and that was Aston Winged. The Troy Murray chaser is very quick early and might be able to pinch this. Antonio Tyson is in career best form and has to be a chance from box 2. Alderley Reform who bounced back with a good win here last start and will be right in the finish. Box Up 1.2.4.6
Race 9 and we see the exciting Real Flash again from box 6. She led throughout again and carved out a very slick BON 29.59 here last week. Don’t be surprised if the FLASH goes quicker tonight. So we will go with 6 from 1.7.8 Boxed
The 10th and talking about pace the Angela Modra trained Yiche is another who should bounce straight to the front and will take a power of beating on recent form. She has moderate beginners on her inside but should prove too strong. Galaxy Snow from box 1 will be right in the mix and looks to be in the top 2. Box Up 1.4.5.6
The final event and here is one at big odds and that is Yoko Bale. She has been mixing her form and is a chance in an open affair for mine. Koombooyana Kid will be the punters elect but tends to find trouble so the value runner is the 8. Box Up 3.6.7.8

POLICY RELEASED FOR TRIALLING AT ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER BEFORE THE RACE MEETING
The Industry Consultative Group recently met and discussed the trialling policies at race meetings and in particular how the Monday nights Angle Park structured policy has been accepted. The ICG panel decided to accept the Monday night policy for all Angle Park (except Thursday night) and Gawler meetings allowing for trialling to be conducted between kennels closing and the start of the first race. Kenneling times for these meetings will be extended by 15 minutes to allow for these trials to occur the same as Monday night.
The policy will now be introduced for Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday and Sunday to start from the Angle Park Monday meeting 4th May 2015. This will now be the sole policy for trialling at race meetings.
RACE MEETING TRIAL POLICY
Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday, Sunday (commencing Monday’s meeting - 4 May 2015)
Two fields from the boxes with a maximum of four (4) greyhounds will be conducted immediately following the completion of the kennelling procedure for the Race Meeting.
The following lists the order in which greyhounds will be selected in the event if more than 8 greyhounds nominated.
1) Reserves at the Meeting that do not obtain starts.
2) Trainers that have greyhounds engaged and are located in an area affected by track closures.
3) Trainers that have greyhounds engaged.
4) Satisfactory trials.
5) Other greyhounds.
PROCEDURE/CRITERIA
1) For Monday nights trainer to contact GRSA between 10.00am and 11.00am on the Monday to nominate. Should the Monday be a public holiday bookings are to be made between 8am and 9am on the scratching line on the Monday.
2) For Angle Park Wednesday, Gawler Tuesday & Friday trainer to contact GRSA between 9.00am and 10.00am on the day to nominate.
3) For Gawler Sunday trainer to contact GRSA between 8.00am and 9.00am on the scratching line on the day to nominate.
4) Other than reserve greyhounds Trainers will be restricted to trialling one (1) greyhound unless nominations determine otherwise.
5) Stewards allot the Box for the Greyhound.
6) Trials will be 515m & 531m in distance as first preference. Other distances considered depending on nominations.
7) Greyhounds currently under suspension or not cleared to race are not eligible to be nominated.(these trials are conducted as if they are at a race meeting so all greyhounds need to be eligible at nomination time)
8) Greyhound registration certificate or cards must be produced at kennelling time.
9) Trainers with other greyhounds engaged can utilize the extra kennel space until such time they are ready to leave OR trainers with no other greyhounds will be free to leave following their trial.
Please Note Kennelling times will be 15 minutes earlier for these meetings from 4th May to allow for these trials.
· If there are 12 races at Angle Park or Gawler there will be NO trials.
· The Vet Clinic at these meetings cannot be used to accommodate any greyhounds to allow for extra trialling greyhounds. This policy has been introduced so that participants book in under the policy. The Vet Clinic needs to be available for the Vet and Stewards at race meetings
Exceptions to this Policy–
· Thursday nights are kept available for the option for Interstate greyhounds to solo trial in a lead up to our Group races and also local greyhound’s trialling for Group racing interstate.
· Local greyhounds will be allowed to solo trial in a lead up to a feature race upon request and they will take one of the eight kennels available for trialling ahead of the policy and sit separately to the 4 dog trials. Feature races are considered to be – Adelaide Cup, Gawler Cup, Oaks, Derby, Howard Ashton, Brian Johnstone, SA Sprint, SA Distance Championship, SA Anniversary Cup, SA Country Cup, National Finals & any Group race Interstate.
· Local greyhounds will be allowed to trial on a race night, where they are in preparation for a feature event and nominated for a meeting and the race does not stand up. This will include all distances and also take precedence over the policy.
· If a greyhound qualifies for a feature final and requires a trial in between this will be conducted as a solo trial and sit separately to the 2 four dog trials.
Whilst these changes increase the time between kennelling and the first race by 15 minutes it should provide an opportunity for more trialling opportunities for one and two dog trainers in particular.
It is extremely important that trainers book in to trial at these race meetings. No trials will be accepted outside of these booking times.
