Angle Park Preview

Racing News

The weather has been a bit cold in the mornings of late which I’m sure all greyhound trainers are painfully aware.  The racing is hot tonight with the highlight of the night being race 8.  We should be able to land a couple of winners at each way odds to line our pockets.

Race 1 and the inside three are the main chances here.  The worry is they all have a good turn of early pace and there could be a little trouble in the run to the first turn.  All three can run cracking times when on the lure.  Box Up 1.2.3.8.

Race 2 and the punters elect will be Aussie Noorumba in box 4.  He has a good turn of foot and will be very hard to beat.  I like Wayne’s Error who can kick up early and be in the mix.  Add Aston Trott along with Lispy Bale.  Box Up 2.3.4.8.

Kath Johnstone has a handy one in Banjo Blaze and she has been knocking on the door of late and is a chance of breaking through here from box 3.  Long Gully Stevi is VERY smart and will take a power of beating from box 8.  Box Up 3.6.7.8

The 4th and this looks a two dog race, Kalden Legenda who has a picket fence beside his name long enough to go around Adelaide Oval and the pacey Astronomic who is in box 6.  They are very hard to split so let’s Box Up 2.4.5.6

Race 5 and this is a quality 600m affair with at least 4 main chances.  Ash Flash has her paw on the till and it is only a matter of time for her to win.  Freesia Bale has struck form and is drawn for a bold showing again.  Add Supersonic Hawk and He’s A Villian for the Pick 4.   Box Up 2.3.6.7

The 6th and Leanne Fagan has a handy one in Aston Archer.  He is smart early and has won three of his last 5 here all in good fashion.  Dr Kiaralee is another who will be right in the mix.  Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 7 and this is a more than handy race so for mine let’s get the trifecta and the pick 4.  It looks very open so we will go with Hector Kahn from box 1, as he can kick up and be very prominent early.  He gets the nod for mine.  We can’t leave out the pacey Punishment who is very smart when on song.  Box Up 1.2.4.7

Race 8, a terrific event and there are a heap of chances but let’s pay for our meal and a couple of drinks and back Yiche from box 5.  She has early pace and is a chance of pinching this with a bit of luck.  The other main chances are 1.4 and 6 so add the 5 and we can only hope.

The 9th, and he hates me tipping his runner’s, but we will make Ollington a SPECIAL he has the pace to lead and win from box 3.  Add Kalden Viseron as value and Kingda Kahn.  Box Up 1.2.3.6.

Race 10 and we have to go with the inside 4 runners.  Black Bottle is my top pick as he can return to form from his draw.  Spring Collete has won her past couple and can make it 3 on end with luck.  Box Up 1.2.3.4

The final event Race 11 and we should be in front.  We will be going for the rails draw again in Ilys Bale.  She can hold the early lead and should prove far too strong.  Erratic Lord is another we can’t leave out.  Box Up 1.4.5.6

ANGLE PARK TO RACE ON TUESDAY 12TH MAY IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE
After a request from Sky Racing we have moved the Gawler meeting on Tuesday 12th May to Angle Park which will be conducted as a Twilight meeting with times from 3.09pm to 6.21pm. It is unfortunate for the Gawler greyhound club to miss this meeting and GRSA will be working with the club for future dates. To remain consistent this meeting will be Angle Park Provincial 2 for grading but will be conducted as the Finish On Lure.

Date changes are listed below –
Delete: Gawler – Tuesday 12th May 2015 (TAB) Day
Add: Angle Park – Tuesday 12th May 2015 (TAB) Twilight

***This will mean that the heats of the Glen Gallon @ Stud Gawler Queens Cup FFA will be run on Sunday 10th May for $1,810. The $3,500 will still be run on Tuesday 19th May. ***

UPDATED DOMESTIC & AGRICULTURAL ANIMALS FORM AVAILABLE
GRSA advises that the form for notifying domestic & agricultural animals on your premise is updated and available on the GRSA website and from Angle Park. Please contact Animal Welfare Officer Belinda Pearce for further information. This form will need to be updated by June 30 when all license renewals are due.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we have moved away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and have started utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA has the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes have been implemented. Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.

**Please ensure that all transfers of ownership have been lodged as each race meeting will be finalised on a daily basis. If the transfer has not been lodged before the greyhound competes then the prizemoney will be paid to the current ownership or withheld if there is no account.

If an Owner directs their money to the account of a trainer and then owns another greyhound with a different trainer, GRSA will make the assumption that all money is to also be paid to the trainer unless otherwise advised**

POLICY RELEASED FOR TRIALLING AT ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER BEFORE THE RACE MEETING
The Industry Consultative Group recently met and discussed the trialling policies at race meetings and in particular how the Monday nights Angle Park structured policy has been accepted. The ICG panel decided to accept the Monday night policy for all Angle Park (except Thursday night) and Gawler meetings allowing for trialling to be conducted between kennels closing and the start of the first race. Kenneling times for these meetings will be extended by 15 minutes to allow for these trials to occur the same as Monday night.
The policy will now be introduced for Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday and Sunday to start from the Angle Park Monday meeting 4th May 2015. This will now be the sole policy for trialling at race meetings.

RACE MEETING TRIAL POLICY
Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday, Sunday (commencing Monday’s meeting - 4 May 2015)
Two fields from the boxes with  a maximum of four (4) greyhounds will be conducted immediately following the completion of the kennelling procedure for the Race Meeting.
The following lists the order in which greyhounds will be selected in the event if more than 8 greyhounds nominated.
1)         Reserves at the Meeting that do not obtain starts.
2)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged and are located in an area affected by track closures.
3)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged.
4)         Satisfactory trials.
5)         Other greyhounds.

PROCEDURE/CRITERIA
1)         For Monday nights trainer to contact GRSA between 10.00am and 11.00am on the Monday to nominate. Should the Monday be a public holiday bookings are to be made between 8am and 9am on the scratching line on the Monday.
2)         For Angle Park Wednesday, Gawler Tuesday & Friday trainer to contact GRSA between 9.00am and 10.00am on the day to nominate.
3)         For Gawler Sunday trainer to contact GRSA between 8.00am and 9.00am on the scratching line on the day to nominate.
4)         Other than reserve greyhounds Trainers will be restricted to trialling one (1) greyhound unless nominations determine otherwise.
5)         Stewards allot the Box for the Greyhound.
6)         Trials will be 515m & 531m in distance as first preference. Other distances considered depending on nominations.
7)         Greyhounds currently under suspension or not cleared to race are not eligible to be nominated.(these trials are conducted as if they are at a race meeting so all greyhounds need to be eligible at nomination time)
8)         Greyhound registration certificate or cards must be produced at kennelling time.
9)         Trainers with other greyhounds engaged can utilize the extra kennel space until such time they are ready to leave OR trainers with no other greyhounds will be free to leave following their trial.

Please Note
Kennelling times will be 15 minutes earlier for these meetings from 4th May to allow for these trials.

·         If there are 12 races at Angle Park or Gawler there will be NO trials.

·         The Vet Clinic at these meetings cannot be used to accommodate any greyhounds to allow for extra trialling greyhounds. This policy has been introduced so that participants book in under the policy. The Vet Clinic needs to be available for the Vet and Stewards at race meetings

Exceptions to this Policy–
·         Thursday nights are kept available for the option for Interstate greyhounds to solo trial in a lead up to our Group races and also local greyhound’s trialling for Group racing interstate.

·         Local greyhounds will be allowed to solo trial in a lead up to a feature race upon request and they will take one of the eight kennels available for trialling ahead of the policy and sit separately to the 4 dog trials. Feature races are considered to be – Adelaide Cup, Gawler Cup, Oaks, Derby, Howard Ashton, Brian Johnstone, SA Sprint, SA Distance Championship, SA Anniversary Cup, SA Country Cup, National Finals & any Group race Interstate.

·         Local greyhounds will be allowed to trial on a race night, where they are in preparation for a feature event and nominated for a meeting and the race does not stand up. This will include all distances and also take precedence over the policy.

·         If a greyhound qualifies for a feature final and requires a trial in between this will be conducted as a solo trial and sit separately to the 2 four dog trials.

Whilst these changes increase the time between kennelling and the first race by 15 minutes it should provide an opportunity for more trialling opportunities for one and two dog trainers in particular.

It is extremely important that trainers book in to trial at these race meetings. No trials will be accepted outside of these booking times.
