TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

It’s been a terrific week of racing and tonight shouldn’t be any different.  We have been on song with our tipping so let’s hope it continues. The specials will be tough as the grader has done a terrific job with several chances in most of the races.

Race 1 and there looks to be a lot of pace in this so I am going with the Margaret Keeping as she should be able to kick up early.  Blurred Lines will be carving across along with Red Can so it will be a charge to the first turn.  Box Up 2.3.6.7.

Race 2 and the pace is on again and the two main chances look to be Optic Shimmer and Banjo Blaze.  They look good for the trifecta.  Dyna Rukia will be making late ground and should run a very cheeky race.  Box Up 1.5.6.7

The 3rd and Kalden Legenda just keeps on winning.  He has been well placed and with 6 wins on the trot is a must for the top 3 again.  Dyna Erwin has the perfect draw of box 1 and will be the big improver.  Box Up 1.4.5.8

The 4th and I tipped Farmeroo last week and he failed to fire but he has box 1 here and can bounce back and repay us for last week’s defeat.  Kenny Gill should have him cherry ripe for this. Times Due will be in the mix again along with Allen Warlock who was a big winner at Strathalbyn last start.  Box Up 1.2.4.6

Race 5 and He’s A Villian looks well suited from his draw over the 600m.  He can possie up early and will take a power of beating.  Ash Flash is knocking on the door and should only keep on improving.  Add in Superonic Hawk and Freesia Bale.  Box Up 3.5.7.8 in a good betting race.

Race 6 and this is a very open affair.  Coorong Kid has the ability and pace and with an ounce of luck early he should figure in the placings.  Another with a big chance is Barnes Bay but he will need a lot of luck early to cross from his wide draw of 7.  Box Up 2.3.4.7

The 7th and there are a lot of inform runners so it will be a very interesting betting affair.  Alderley Reform continues to win here in quick times and is drawn for another bold showing down in box 3.  Kalden Gambino can be hit and miss but is a big chance if he comes out on the right paw.  Add in Wheels Of Fire who is very smart when on the lure.  Box Up 2.3.5.8 in a terrific race.

Race 8 and I am going with a front runner here and that is Mrs Bubbles.  She is very smart once in front and gets the nod for mine.  Aussie Noorumba charged home to win here last start in good time and can’t be overlooked from box 3.  Box Up 3.4.5.and the 8 as he will be at very good odds.

Race 9 and the Matty Payne trained Physical Road is a pacey type who is coming off a last start win here in 30.27.  She can go quicker and should prove hard to beat out in box 8.  Oran Bale will add value in the trifecta along with the Kim Johnstone trained Velocity Tara.  Box Up the even numbers 2.4.6.8.
The 10th and I like the inside 3.  All can be hit and miss but it is very hard to go past Mcray for Troy Murray who is in good form.  She flew home here last week and won in 30.17 from box 8, then there is Blue Light Banjo who will be flying home also and is boxed for a bold showing.  Box Up 1.2.3.8 and let’s get the bickies.

The final event and this is a tough one to go home on as this is a VERY open affair.  I am going with early pace and that is Lektra Diva, she can lead these for a long way.  Zipping Fee Fee will be running on late along with Ballantime.  Box Up 2.4.6.8.

GRIFTER BALE AT SANDOWN TONIGHT
Grifter Bale for Ben Rawlings will be matching it with the Victorian stayers tonight when he takes on a quality field at Sandown. He has drawn box 5 in race 6 due to start at 8.22pm (SA Time) and looks a great chance based on his recent form. Also tonight Ken Trowbridge will have Footluce Diva engaged in a 595m event at Sandown where she has drawn box 5 in race 7 due to start at 8.42pm (SA Time). We wish both lots of connects the best of luck.

At Wentworth Park on Saturday night Bosco Stamenkovic will be hoping for a change of luck with Boojerooma who is engaged in a heat of the Ladies Bracelet. She has been terrific recently in running three placings at Wenty Park over the last three weeks and has drawn box 4 this Saturday night. She is in race 6 due to start at 8.08pm (SA Time). We wish Bosco and connections a touch more luck this week with Boojerooma.

ANGLE PARK TONIGHT
RACE 8 – 2015 BREEDERS PRELUDE (2) FINAL
It’s always a tough race when Aussie Noorumba has an inside draw. Probably the most talented dog in this race but he makes trouble for himself trying to shift out on first turn and in a high calibre field like this I don’t think he can afford to, so I reckon he’s a huge risk.  Mrs. Bubbles has been getting better every week and was a really gutsy win in her heat and can go sub 30.00. She is my on top selection tonight.  Lucy Fergo has the best last section of her competition and if she can avoid the carnage on the first turn and get to the rail, she will definitely be in the mix. Long Gully Stevi won her heat leading all the way and will be the early pace maker along with Warrior of Oz who was nosed out by Aussie Noorumba in her heat.  Check Yo Self is honest and Long Gully Ben hasn’t had any favours in the box draws so with a bit of luck could sneak a place.  The best dog in the race is Aussie Noorumba but I’m going to risk him and look towards Mrs Bubbles however if he jumps and leads to the first turn I’ll have to eat crow.

Selections 4-6-5-3

NEW DOMESTIC & AGRICULTURAL ANIMALS FORM AVAILABLE
GRSA advises that the form for notifying domestic & agricultural animals on your premise is available on the GRSA website and Angle Park. Please contact Animal Welfare Officer Belinda Pearce for further information. This form will need to be updated by June 30 when all license renewals are due.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we have moved away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and have started utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA has the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes have been implemented. Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.

**Please ensure that all transfers of ownership have been lodged as each race meeting will be finalised on a daily basis. If the transfer has not been lodged before the greyhound competes then the prizemoney will be paid to the current ownership or withheld if there is no account.

If an Owner directs their money to the account of a trainer and then owns another greyhound with a different trainer, GRSA will make the assumption that all money is to also be paid to the trainer unless otherwise advised**

POLICY RELEASED FOR TRIALLING AT ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER BEFORE THE RACE MEETING
The Industry Consultative Group recently met and discussed the trialling policies at race meetings and in particular how the Monday nights Angle Park structured policy has been accepted. The ICG panel decided to accept the Monday night policy for all Angle Park (except Thursday night) and Gawler meetings allowing for trialling to be conducted between kennels closing and the start of the first race. Kenneling times for these meetings will be extended by 15 minutes to allow for these trials to occur the same as Monday night.
The policy will now be introduced for Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday and Sunday to start from the Angle Park Monday meeting 4th May 2015. This will now be the sole policy for trialling at race meetings.

RACE MEETING TRIAL POLICY
Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday, Sunday (commencing Monday’s meeting - 4 May 2015)
Two fields from the boxes with  a maximum of four (4) greyhounds will be conducted immediately following the completion of the kennelling procedure for the Race Meeting.
The following lists the order in which greyhounds will be selected in the event if more than 8 greyhounds nominated.
1)         Reserves at the Meeting that do not obtain starts.
2)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged and are located in an area affected by track closures.
3)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged.
4)         Satisfactory trials.
5)         Other greyhounds.

PROCEDURE/CRITERIA
1)         For Monday nights trainer to contact GRSA between 10.00am and 11.00am on the Monday to nominate. Should the Monday be a public holiday bookings are to be made between 8am and 9am on the scratching line on the Monday.
2)         For Angle Park Wednesday, Gawler Tuesday & Friday trainer to contact GRSA between 9.00am and 10.00am on the day to nominate.
3)         For Gawler Sunday trainer to contact GRSA between 8.00am and 9.00am on the scratching line on the day to nominate.
4)         Other than reserve greyhounds Trainers will be restricted to trialling one (1) greyhound unless nominations determine otherwise.
5)         Stewards allot the Box for the Greyhound.
6)         Trials will be 515m & 531m in distance as first preference. Other distances considered depending on nominations.
7)         Greyhounds currently under suspension or not cleared to race are not eligible to be nominated.(these trials are conducted as if they are at a race meeting so all greyhounds need to be eligible at nomination time)
8)         Greyhound registration certificate or cards must be produced at kennelling time.
9)         Trainers with other greyhounds engaged can utilize the extra kennel space until such time they are ready to leave OR trainers with no other greyhounds will be free to leave following their trial.

Please Note
Kennelling times will be 15 minutes earlier for these meetings from 4th May to allow for these trials.

·         If there are 12 races at Angle Park or Gawler there will be NO trials.

·         The Vet Clinic at these meetings cannot be used to accommodate any greyhounds to allow for extra trialling greyhounds. This policy has been introduced so that participants book in under the policy. The Vet Clinic needs to be available for the Vet and Stewards at race meetings

Exceptions to this Policy–
·         Thursday nights are kept available for the option for Interstate greyhounds to solo trial in a lead up to our Group races and also local greyhound’s trialling for Group racing interstate.

·         Local greyhounds will be allowed to solo trial in a lead up to a feature race upon request and they will take one of the eight kennels available for trialling ahead of the policy and sit separately to the 4 dog trials. Feature races are considered to be – Adelaide Cup, Gawler Cup, Oaks, Derby, Howard Ashton, Brian Johnstone, SA Sprint, SA Distance Championship, SA Anniversary Cup, SA Country Cup, National Finals & any Group race Interstate.

·         Local greyhounds will be allowed to trial on a race night, where they are in preparation for a feature event and nominated for a meeting and the race does not stand up. This will include all distances and also take precedence over the policy.

·         If a greyhound qualifies for a feature final and requires a trial in between this will be conducted as a solo trial and sit separately to the 2 four dog trials.

Whilst these changes increase the time between kennelling and the first race by 15 minutes it should provide an opportunity for more trialling opportunities for one and two dog trainers in particular.

It is extremely important that trainers book in to trial at these race meetings. No trials will be accepted outside of these booking times.
