TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

It has been a good week on the punt and tonight’s 11 events appears a terrific betting programme, so we should definitely be on the right side of the ledger.  Last week we started with a bang with a trifecta and a first 4 and that more than covered that nights racing. Our best bets all saluted, three of them, along with our eachway hope who ran 2nd at handy odds.

Race 1 and this is a tricky one to kick off with as there are several chances.  I have gone with the Kenny Gill trained sprinter in Farmeroo.  He found a heap of trouble last start but is more than capable of bouncing back in this.  Add in the Victorian visitor in Eye Smith and Dyna Andy.  Box Up 1.4.5.8

Race 2 and I like the book ends in this.  Both can run time and they should be right in the mix.  Dyna Rukia can add a little value for the trifecta along with Banjo Blaze.  Box Up 1.2.5.8.

The 3rd and Jeff Guy has crossed the border with a big team tonight and will go close with Brazen Bull out in box 7.  I would have preferred him closer to the fence but he has his fair share of ability.  Times Due can be hit and miss early but is very strong and will be charging home.  Box Up 2.4.6.7

The 4th and it’s very hard to go past Lochinvar Akira for George Rehmann out in box 7.  She is very strong in the run home and will prove the measuring stick in this.  Excusez Moi is always a threat along with the pacey Zipping Spice.  Box Up 1.2.5.7

This is the 600m event of the night and what an open affair it is.  There are at least 3 chances.  I am going with Ash Flash who has very good credentials when on song.  Mi Diablo has good form along with Freesia Bale.  Box Up 1.2.3.5

Race 6 and this is the 731m AGRC final and what a race on paper, with several quality performers.  Luna Jinx returned to from with a solid win here last week beating Grifter Bale from box 8, and from the rails looks too good.  Psychotic Gold is better than her past couple suggests and is a big improver.  Box Up 1.2.3.7

Race 7 and it won’t get any tougher than this.  There is pace galore from the middle draws, so I will go with Quick Kisses at good eachway odds.  She has been in the money here in 6 of her 8 runs and can run a cheeky race.  Black Bottle is always a chance and should start the punters elect.  Box up 1.4.5.7

The 8th is the AGRC Sprint final and the main chances are Getty Bale and Barnes Bay which are both in fine form and should be there when the whips are cracking.  Add in Penny Grove who has won 3 of her past 5 and will only keep on improving.  Box Up 1.3.6.8

The 9th and it would be a brave person to tip against Kalden Legenda.  He has notched up 5 wins in a row here and there is no reason why he can’t do it again.  Dyna Erwin is always a chance and appears the main danger along with the Charlie Irwin trained Merlot Monelli.  Box Up 2.3.4.7

Race 10 and the Kathy Johnstone kennel can come up trumps here with a winner in Kingda Kahn.  He found heaps of trouble here last start and still ran 2nd from box 7.  Aston Archer made short work of them last week when winning in 30.13 and will be very hard to beat again.  Box Up 1.2.3.5

The final event and let’s hope we have been in fine form prior with a heap of winners as this is fairly open.  I am going with the box draws so Park Glory gets the nod from box 1.   Grand Socks and Farron Bale the best of the rest.  Box Up 1.4.5.7

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

GUN MCBAIN TAKING ON THE QUEENSLAND DERBY HEATS
Group 3 Gawler Cup winner Gun McBain will be in the sunshine state taking on the best young greyhounds at Albion Park in the heats of the Queensland Derby. He is already a winner of over $60,000 in prizemoney and with his brilliant early speed could be very hard to catch in his heat. Trained by Vadim Roz he has drawn box 3 in race 6 and kennel mate Young Gun McBain has drawn box 3 in race 3 in the second heat of the derby. We wish Vadim and connections all the very best of luck.
MOBIUS IN THE GOLD CUP HEATS AT WENTWORTH PARK
The much anticipated debut of Mobius for Bosco Stamenkovic over the staying trip will not happen in SA but will happen at Wentworth Park on Saturday night when she takes on the best stayer in the land in the first heat of the Group 3 Gold Cup. She will be up against Space Star however she is blessed with plenty of ability and can run home hard. She is in Race 5 due to start at 7.45pm (SA time) on Saturday night. Bosco also has Boojerooma engaged in the first race on the program and is a very good chance to break through for her Wentworth Park win after two excellent placings. Good luck to Bosco and connections on Saturday night.

Delete: Gawler – Tuesday 12th May 2015 (TAB) Day

NEW DOMESTIC & AGRICULTURAL ANIMALS FORM AVAILABLE
GRSA advises that the form for notifying domestic & agricultural animals on your premise is available on the GRSA website and Angle Park. Please contact Animal Welfare Officer Belinda Pearce for further information. This form will need to be updated by June 30 when all license renewals are due.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we have moved away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and have started utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA has the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes have been implemented. Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.

**Please ensure that all transfers of ownership have been lodged as each race meeting will be finalised on a daily basis. If the transfer has not been lodged before the greyhound competes then the prizemoney will be paid to the current ownership or withheld if there is no account.**

POLICY RELEASED FOR TRIALLING AT ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER BEFORE THE RACE MEETING
The Industry Consultative Group recently met and discussed the trialling policies at race meetings and in particular how the Monday nights Angle Park structured policy has been accepted. The ICG panel decided to accept the Monday night policy for all Angle Park (except Thursday night) and Gawler meetings allowing for trialling to be conducted between kennels closing and the start of the first race. Kenneling times for these meetings will be extended by 15 minutes to allow for these trials to occur the same as Monday night.
The policy will now be introduced for Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday and Sunday to start from the Angle Park Monday meeting 4th May 2015. This will now be the sole policy for trialling at race meetings.

RACE MEETING TRIAL POLICY
Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday, Sunday (commencing Monday’s meeting - 4 May 2015)
Two fields from the boxes with  a maximum of four (4) greyhounds will be conducted immediately following the completion of the kennelling procedure for the Race Meeting.
The following lists the order in which greyhounds will be selected in the event if more than 8 greyhounds nominated.
1)Reserves at the Meeting that do not obtain starts.
2)Trainers that have greyhounds engaged and are located in an area affected by track closures.
3)Trainers that have greyhounds engaged.
4)Satisfactory trials.
5)Other greyhounds.
PROCEDURE/CRITERIA
1)For Monday nights trainer to contact GRSA between 10.00am and 11.00am on the Monday to nominate. Should the Monday be a public holiday bookings are to be made between 8am and 9am on the scratching line on the Monday.
2)For Angle Park Wednesday, Gawler Tuesday & Friday trainer to contact GRSA between 9.00am and 10.00am on the day to nominate.
3)For Gawler Sunday trainer to contact GRSA between 8.00am and 9.00am on the scratching line on the day to nominate.
4)Other than reserve greyhounds Trainers will be restricted to trialling one (1) greyhound unless nominations determine otherwise.
5)Stewards allot the Box for the Greyhound.
6)Trials will be 515m & 531m in distance as first preference. Other distances considered depending on nominations.
7)Greyhounds currently under suspension or not cleared to race are not eligible to be nominated.(these trials are conducted as if they are at a race meeting so all greyhounds need to be eligible at nomination time)
8)Greyhound registration certificate or cards must be produced at kennelling time.
9)Trainers with other greyhounds engaged can utilize the extra kennel space until such time they are ready to leave OR trainers with no other greyhounds will be free to leave following their trial.

Please Note Kennelling times will be 15 minutes earlier for these meetings from 4th May to allow for these trials.

  • If there are 12 races at Angle Park or Gawler there will be NO trials.

  • The Vet Clinic at these meetings cannot be used to accommodate any greyhounds to allow for extra trialling greyhounds. This policy has been introduced so that participants book in under the policy. The Vet Clinic needs to be available for the Vet and Stewards at race meetings

Exceptions to this Policy–
  • Thursday nights are kept available for the option for Interstate greyhounds to solo trial in a lead up to our Group races and also local greyhound’s trialling for Group racing interstate.

  • Local greyhounds will be allowed to solo trial in a lead up to a feature race upon request and they will take one of the eight kennels available for trialling ahead of the policy and sit separately to the 4 dog trials. Feature races are considered to be – Adelaide Cup, Gawler Cup, Oaks, Derby, Howard Ashton, Brian Johnstone, SA Sprint, SA Distance Championship, SA Anniversary Cup, SA Country Cup, National Finals & any Group race Interstate.

  • Local greyhounds will be allowed to trial on a race night, where they are in preparation for a feature event and nominated for a meeting and the race does not stand up. This will include all distances and also take precedence over the policy.

  • If a greyhound qualifies for a feature final and requires a trial in between this will be conducted as a solo trial and sit separately to the 2 four dog trials.

Whilst these changes increase the time between kennelling and the first race by 15 minutes it should provide an opportunity for more trialling opportunities for one and two dog trainers in particular.

It is extremely important that trainers book in to trial at these race meetings. No trials will be accepted outside of these booking times.
