TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

The highlight of the night at Angle Park is a very good staying event in race 3 on the programme.  There are three runners resuming here at headquarters after a short campaign in Sydney and they appear the main chances in this race tonight.

There has been a few roughies win throughout the week here and at Gawler so hopefully tonight we can bounce back and back a winner or two.  There are a couple of good races where the trifecta should prove more than handy.

Race 1 and Red Can looks well suited out in box 8 and was a quick winner from the same draw 2 runs back in a slick 29.92.  He should take a power of beating.  Black Bottle and Margaret Keeping both will show plenty of cheek and can’t be overlooked.  Box Up 2.3.5.8.

Race 2 and the Terry Cahalan trained Ollington is boxed to win.  He carved out a slick 29.77 win here last Thursday and will start the punters elect.  Add in Mcray and Waynes Error for the minors.  Box Up 1.3.4.5

This is the distance feature of the night and a very good one at that!!  Psychotic Gold can bounce back from her defeat at Wentworth Park and only needs to stay out of trouble in the run to the 1st turn.  Luna Jinx has been well travelled of late but I would prefer her closer to the fence but on that comment she is a class act with a clear run.  Both Grifter Bale and He’s A Villian both have pace and are sure to run bold races.  Box Up 2.5.7.8

Race 4 and Blurred Lines has stuck form with 4 wins from his last 5 starts here and his early pace should make him very hard to beat again.  Times Due and Lobo Loco can fill the top 3.  Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 5 and hopefully we have backed a few winners so this is a good trifecta race to go a little bit wide. I think the main two chances are the 7 and the 8, so we will make them the stand outs.  Go with 7 & 8 from 1.2.6 boxed.

The 6th and Cash In Looper is well drawn out in box 8 and should sweep around them.  He has won his last 3 at Gawler all in quick times.  He gets the nod for mine.  Add in Fire Tyson and Penny Grove for the minors.  Box Up 4.5.7.8

Race 7 and if you like spicy food jump on Zipping Spice, she has a heap of early pace and will take a power of beating in this from the rails draw.  Cosmic Shez is another who will run a very cheeky race and is a must for the top 3.  Box up 1.2.3. and add in the 8 runner for value.

The 8th and the Chegia kennel has a new one in Jorelle out in box 7.  She has won 9 from 44 along with 9 placing’s and is coming off a last start win at Dapto over the 520m.  She should be very hard to beat on debut.  The other chances look to be Getty Bale who is ultra-consistent along with Peejay Jack.  Box up 3.4.5.7

The 9th and this should make it a double for the Cahalan kennel with Alderley Reform winning.  He is drawn to win again but will start very skinny on the TAB, so we will make him a stand out and go 1 from 6.7.8.

Race 10 and he was odds on here last start and was beaten after an early check but Wheel Spinner should bounce back into the winners circle despite the poor draw of box 6.  Grand Socks has a perfect record of 2 from 2 and can’t be overlooked.  Box Up 1.2.6.7

The final event and we will go home on a winner with Kalden Legenda, he just keeps on winning and he will do it again from box 2.  We will make him a stand out and go 2 from 5.6.8.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we have moved away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and have started utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA has the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes have been implemented. Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.

**Please ensure that all transfers of ownership have been lodged as each race meeting will be finalised on a daily basis. If the transfer has not been lodged before the greyhound competes then the prizemoney will be paid to the current ownership or withheld if there is no account.**

THE ADVERTISER EXPANDED FORM GUIDE
The Advertiser form guide has been available for the first four days of the week and includes expert comments, speed maps, run lines, tipsters columns along with winning box statistics and leading trainer details for GRSA greyhound meetings all in full colour. TattsBet also are providing fixed odds on all these meetings so there’s not much more a punter could want for.

POLICY RELEASED FOR TRIALLING AT ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER BEFORE THE RACE MEETING
The Industry Consultative Group recently met and discussed the trialling policies at race meetings and in particular how the Monday nights Angle Park structured policy has been accepted. The ICG panel decided to accept the Monday night policy for all Angle Park (except Thursday night) and Gawler meetings allowing for trialling to be conducted between kennels closing and the start of the first race. Kenneling times for these meetings will be extended by 15 minutes to allow for these trials to occur the same as Monday night.
The policy will now be introduced for Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday and Sunday to start from the Angle Park Monday meeting 4th May 2015. This will now be the sole policy for trialling at race meetings.

RACE MEETING TRIAL POLICY
Angle Park Monday & Wednesday along with Gawler Tuesday, Friday, Sunday (commencing 4 May 2015)
Two fields from the boxes with  a maximum of four (4) greyhounds will be conducted immediately following the completion of the kennelling procedure for the Race Meeting.
The following lists the order in which greyhounds will be selected in the event if more than 8 greyhounds nominated.
1)         Reserves at the Meeting that do not obtain starts.
2)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged and are located in an area affected by track closures.
3)         Trainers that have greyhounds engaged.
4)         Satisfactory trials.
5)         Other greyhounds.

PROCEDURE/CRITERIA
1)         For Monday nights trainer to contact GRSA between 10.00am and 11.00am on the Monday to nominate. Should the Monday be a public holiday bookings are to be made between 8am and 9am on the scratching line on the Monday.
2)         For Angle Park Wednesday, Gawler Tuesday & Friday trainer to contact GRSA between 9.00am and 10.00am on the day to nominate.
3)         For Gawler Sunday trainer to contact GRSA between 8.00am and 9.00am on the scratching line on the day to nominate.
4)         Other than reserve greyhounds Trainers will be restricted to trialling one (1) greyhound unless nominations determine otherwise.
5)         Stewards allot the Box for the Greyhound.
6)         Trials will be 515m & 531m in distance as first preference. Other distances considered depending on nominations.
7)         Greyhounds currently under suspension or not cleared to race are not eligible to be nominated.(these trials are conducted as if they are at a race meeting so all greyhounds need to be eligible at nomination time)
8)         Greyhound registration certificate or cards must be produced at kennelling time.
9)         Trainers with other greyhounds engaged can utilize the extra kennel space until such time they are ready to leave OR trainers with no other greyhounds will be free to leave following their trial.

Please Note
Kennelling times will be 15 minutes earlier for these meetings from 4th May to allow for these trials.
  • If there are 12 races at Angle Park or Gawler there will be NO trials.
  • The Vet Clinic at these meetings cannot be used to accommodate any greyhounds to allow for extra trialling greyhounds. This policy has been introduced so that participants book in under the policy. The Vet Clinic needs to be available for the Vet and Stewards at race meetings

Exceptions to this Policy–
  • Thursday nights are kept available for the option for Interstate greyhounds to solo trial in a lead up to our Group races and also local greyhound’s trialling for Group racing interstate.
  •  Local greyhounds will be allowed to solo trial in a lead up to a feature race upon request and they will take one of the eight kennels available for trialling ahead of the policy and sit separately to the 4 dog trials. Feature races are considered to be – Adelaide Cup, Gawler Cup, Oaks, Derby, Howard Ashton, Brian Johnstone, SA Sprint, SA Distance Championship, SA Anniversary Cup, SA Country Cup, National Finals & any Group race Interstate.
  • Local greyhounds will be allowed to trial on a race night, where they are in preparation for a feature event and nominated for a meeting and the race does not stand up. This will include all distances and also take precedence over the policy.
  • If a greyhound qualifies for a feature final and requires a trial in between this will be conducted as a solo trial and sit separately to the 2 four dog trials.

Whilst these changes increase the time between kennelling and the first race by 15 minutes it should provide an opportunity for more trialling opportunities for one and two dog trainers in particular.

It is extremely important that trainers book in to trial at these race meetings. No trials will be accepted outside of these booking times.
