Angle Park Preview

26/03/2015
Racing News

Tonight we have an 11 event programme and the main event is Race 8 on the card, The 2015 Breeders Prelude, it is a handy race with several chances.

Race 1 and the inside brigade will be very hard to beat and they are He’s A Villian and the pacey Peejay Jack.  Both have different racing styles as one will be the likely leader and the other rattling home in the final stages.  Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 2 and the Johnstone kennel have a big chance of landing the quinella.  The litter mates both look well boxed and should be right in the firing line.  Add in the newcomer in Irinka Grant and Magic Supreme.  Box Up 2.3.7.8

The 3rd and this is a very open event and the box rise will decide the winner.  The main chances are coming from out wide and I will stick with Boonoona Boy for the Murray kennel.  He can be hit and miss but is very strong.  King Chaos has pace and the kennel is in very good form.  Box up 1.4.6.7 in an open affair.

The 4th and the main chances are the well drawn Kalden Legenda and Merlot Monelli.  Both are well drawn and should be in the top 3.  Add in Yambla Mick and Good Odds Punk who will be flying home.  Box Up 1.3.5.8

Race 5 and the inform Young Gun McBain has the perfect draw down in box 1, although he has been beaten when up in class from here but he is back in grade and looks a special for mine.  Cosmic Wild might struggle to cross from out in box 8 but has class.  Box Up 1.5.6.7

Race 6 and Astone Kane hasn’t raced since being unplaced here last December.  He was on fire late last year winning in slick times and will be very hard to beat on the lure so is another of my special’s.  Dyna Andy can be slow early and will be running on late, so he is a must for trifecta punters.  Box up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 and the main chances here are the even numbers.  All have a chance and have been racing in terrific form.  Box Up 2.4.6.8

The 8th and this is the Breeders Prelude final and Aussie Noorumba has more than his fair share of ability and looks the measuring stick in this.  He has won 3 from 5 but will be skinny odds.  Warrior Of Oz loves to run 2nd and he should do so again.  Box Up 1.3.5.8

Race 9 is a tough race as some of the main chances are out of form.  It all depends on the start in this race and for mine.  It is wide open and a good trifecta and first 4 event.  Box Up 1.3.5.8 for value.

The 10th and Red Can has the pace and is well drawn to cross from the wide draw.  He was only beaten a smidge here last week in a handy 30.00 and can go one better in this tonight.  Velocity Saphire is always a chance and is another who is well drawn.  Box Up 2.3.6.8

Race 11 and can Park Glory finally break through and win here.  He has the form on the board but has found one better each week. From box 2 should prove very hard to beat.  The main chances look to be Brazen Beauty and Josie Bale.  Box up 2.3.5.7

BREEDERS 2015 PRELUDE (1) FINAL
The feature on tonight’s strong 11 event card at Angle Park is the final of the $4,600 Breeders 2015 Prelude (1) Final.

There were 4 heats conducted last Wednesday with the Bill Wudarczyk trained Aussie Noorumba the fastest qualifier running a flying 29.76 just ahead of the Paula Hearnden trained Long Gully Magic who won in a slick 29.85. Other heat winners were Long Gully Ben(30.10) and Brett’s Magic (30.180).

Race favourite is the exciting Aussie Noorumba however he has drawn an inside box which has been his down fall on two occasions recently. Favourite punters will be hoping he can have a clean beginning and speed to the front otherwise he could find trouble. Paula Hearnden has qualified three greyhounds with Long Bully Magic her best chance after winning his heat easily. The race is full of depth and no doubt we will see most of these SA Bred greyhounds carve out a handy career for their owners. Good luck to all connections tonight.

The next prelude in this series will be run on Wednesday 15th April with the heats conducted and the Final on Thursday 23rd April.  Nominations close on Friday 10th April at 9.00am.

LOCAL GREYHOUNDS ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
Tonight at Sandown Nikita Kahn for trainer Kim Johnstone will be competing in the fourth heat of the Group 2 Launching Pad series. She has drawn the visitor’s box out in box 8 and has struck quite a strong heat however she does have good pace from the boxes so connections will be hoping she can find a forward position without too much work. She is in race 4 at Sandown due to start at 7.37pm (SA Time).

On Saturday night at Wentworth Park our local stayers will hold the limelight with Grifter Bale for Ben Rawlings, Psychotic Gold for Petar Jovanovic and Luna Jinx which recently transferred into the kennels of Victorian Len Ketelaar from Gavin Harris all competing in the Group 1 Association Cup heats. Grifter Bale seems to have missed the real big guns in the series and looks a good chance to qualify if he can have a trouble free run. He is engaged in race 2 due to start at 6.48 (SA time). Both Psychotic Gold and Luna Jinx are matched against each other along with superstar Space Star so it is going to be tough however both are racing extremely well and a win would not surprise. They are engaged in race 4 due to start at 7.28pm (SA time).

We wish all out local participants every success on the National scene and hope they do their best for South Australia.

GAWLER SOUTH BAKERY FREE FOR ALL FINAL & GOLDEN MAIDEN ON TUESDAY
A huge program of greyhound racing will be conducted at Gawler on Tuesday with the running of the $3,500 Gawler South Bakery FFA Final and the $3,000 Gawler Golden Maiden Final.

After two exciting heats of the Gawler South Bakery FFA the final is surely one not to be missed. New comer to the Troy Murray kennel Astronomic created a huge impression last week when he impressed with a strong victory over the 400m and then on Tuesday backed it up with a flying 30.56 heat win when he was able to run the front down the back straight.  He won by over 4 lengths from the inform Farmeroo for Ken Gill with kennel mate Big Zap close up in third. The second heat also went the way of the Troy Murray kennel when Cash In Looper ran down Better Call Saul for Mick Delorenzo to win by almost 4 lengths in a slick 30.62. Fancy Rick for John Shanahan ran a nice third while track specialist Punishment found some trouble off the back straight and ran 5th when he looked to be in a winning position. It all makes for a super final this Tuesday at Gawler.

The Golden Maiden series threw up a couple of surprises with the Kevin Murnane trained Seven Sins winning the second heat at almost double figure odds when he was able to run down Christie’s Girl to win by 3 ½ lengths in a solid 31.38. Escapist and Bazzie’s Girl also both qualified for the final. The fastest qualifier came from the first heat when Jessie Who for Narvette Treloar was able to lead throughout and record a comfortable victory from Gelignite Jack and Velocity Kim in a quick 30.99. Yarramundi Jax also qualified from this heat with the placegetters from this heat looking like the main players in the final.

There’s only one place to be this Tuesday for terrific greyhound racing.

2015 GAWLER PRODUCE STAKE – FINAL PAYMENT
The final payment for the 2015 Gawler Produce closes on Friday 3rd April 2015. GRSA have just sent out payment forms shortly for those greyhounds who remain eligible.
Owners that have already made a one off payment are not required to make another payment.
The heats will be run on Tuesday 23rd June with the semi-finals on Tuesday 30th June and the Final on Sunday 5th July.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we will shortly be moving away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and start utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA will have the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, going forward each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes are expected to take effect from the payment batch being paid on 24 March 2015.

Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.
