TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Well it’s been a very ordinary week for punters as the favourite supporters have taken a battering to their hip pocket in recent meetings here.  We can bounce back on a terrific night of racing tonight with the feature event being race 8 on the card, the St. Patrick’s Day Sprint.

Race 1 and it’s a very tricky race to start with.  There is a lot of pace from the inside and the main chances have drawn the middle.  I am going with Spicy Peppa from box 5.  She has pace and will be right in the finish.  Add in Punishment who is an improver along with Everlasting Gaze.  Box Up 3.5.6.8

Race 2 and it is very hard to go past Wheel Spinner down in box 1.  He should kick up and prove too strong for his rivals.  The main trifecta hopes should come from the 8 runner and the 5 as both should position up nice and close in the run.  Box Up 1.5.6.8

The 3rd and it looks a two dog affair (but I have been wrong before ) and they are Mcray and Nowak.  They both can be hit and miss on box rise but are very strong.  King Chaos is the form runner and is a must for the Trifecta.  Box Up 3.4.6.7

Race 4 and Troy Murray looks to have a handy one in Real Flash.  She has had 4 career starts and has collected a cheque on each occasion.  She is well drawn and is amongst the main chances.  Add in Dyna Rukia and the Matty Payne trained Physical Road who is a big hope at handy odds.  Box Up 1.2.7.8

This is a fantastic 600m event and there would be at least 5 main chances for mine.  Big Zap gets the nod on his box draw as he can rail hard and power home.  Coorong Kid found a heap of trouble here last start over the sprint but is the improver on his previous form and will be right in the mix.  He has a terrific record of 10 wins from 24 starts and is a must in this.  Box Up 2.3.6.8 in a good betting race.

The 6th and Young Gun McBain continues to show good form and is boxed for a bold showing.  He has a good turn of early pace and looks the top pick.  Excusez Moi has been hit and miss of late on box rise but should be in the firing line here.  Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 7 and the outside two appear the main chances.  The main worry is they can be hit and miss on box rise but are very strong with a clear run.  Infinite Power could be the Big Smokey as she is well drawn down in box 2.  Add in Woodside Jagger for the top 4.  Box Up 2.3.7.8

The feature of the night is a ripper and there are several chances but it will all depend on the box rise as they all look fairly even.  My money will be on Alderley Reform as he is very strong and is boxed for a bold showing.  Van Carrho Flash is another who has a good draw but can be hit and miss when the lids fly open.  Kalden Gambino is the form runner and has 3 wins beside his name all in sub 30 runs of late.  Box Up 1.2.6.8

Race 9 and Kalina Allen looks the measuring stick in this.  She won here last start in 30.19 and has been in the money 4 of her last 5 runs here and appears a major chance.  Hailstorm Billy has been struggling of late and is an improver.  Add in Kalden Legenda for the top 3.  Box Up 3.4.6.7.

The 10th and the Johnstone kennel should notch up a winner with Kingda Kahn, he fell here last start but was in fine form prior and has the pace to carve across and looks a big chance in this.  Go Geronimo is down in box 1 and will be doing his best work over the last 100m.  Box Up 1.2.6.8

Race 11 and I like the inside 3 and we will stick with the 3 and that is Park Glory.  He hasn’t set the world on fire of late but this looks his race.  Irish Midge can send us home and is the omen bet on St. Patrick’s Day Sprint night along with Dyna Treason.  Box Up 1.2.3.6

GRIFTER BALE TO TRIAL FOR ASSOCIATION CUP TONIGHT
Last weeks impressive SA Distance Championship winner Grifter Bale will trial tonight over the 515m in a final lead up to his assault on the Group 1 Association Cup heats at Wentworth Park next Saturday night. He will be heading interstate on Sunday to take on the big guns on the National level. Psychotic Gold, the Petar Jovanovic star chaser, is also on target for the Association Cup. She has been busy since her second in the Distance Championship already trialling at Wentworth Park on Tuesday. She impressed with a 29.92 run over the 520m with splits of 5.65,18.27 and coming home in a strong 11.65. To put her time into perspective My Bro Fabio trialled on the same night running home in sub 11.40 which is low flying.

We will also see more of our greyhounds on the National scene in recent weeks with both Boojerooma and Gun McBain engaged for the Golden Easter Egg series. Unfortunately Gun McBain for Vadim Roz has been scratched from the series but it was great to see him included in such an outstanding line up of chasers and look forward to him competing in more Group series. Boojerooma for Bosco Stamenkovic is second reserve for a heat and unlikely to get a start however we should see her and Mobius racing the following week at Wentworth Park. They both also trialled on Tuesday over the 520m and both needed the experience on the track being slow early but running home well and should be much better for the run. Boojerooma went 5.59,18.44,30.16 and Mobius went 5.61,18.33,30.07.

We wish all out local participants every success on the National scene and hope they can replicate Luna Jinx’s outstanding performance in the Super Stayers at the Meadows.

ST PATRICK’S DAY SPRINT
The feature tonight on a terrific card of racing will be the St Patrick’s Day Sprint. The Sprint is worth $4,415 in total with the winner taking home $3,95 plus a trophy and rug to be run as race 8 due to start at 9.12pm (SA time).

The Sprint has brought together a fantastic line up of greyhounds with all eight greyhounds given an eachway chance. Alderley Reform for Terry Cahalan has found his very best form recently with two strong wins in sub 30 seconds. He has drawn well and should get a nice position early. Last weeks Anniversary Cup winner Kalden Gambino has also drawn well in box 6 and has strung together three straight wins. No doubt he will be pushing forward early however there is plenty of pace to content with. Black Bottle from box 1, Fameroo from box 6, Margaret Keeping from box 7 and Van Carrho Flash from box 8 have all shown brilliant speed to led in their races and can run blistering time when they find the front. Both Kalden Balerion and the old boy Fire Tyson have drawn a little awkward but are classy customers and a win tonight certainly wouldn’t surprise. Good luck to all connections with their greyhounds tonight.

PAYMENT OF PRIZEMONEY/TRAINERS FEE
As GRSA continues to refine and increase our usage of the OzChase system we will shortly be moving away from our current manual methods of processing prizemoney/trainers’ fee and start utilising reports automatically generated from OzChase.

With this increased functionality, GRSA will have the ability to split prizemoney payments between owners and trainers, as opposed to the current situation where 100% of prizemoney is paid to one bank account.  Should trainers or owners wish to take advantage of this it will be necessary for additional forms to be lodged with GRSA.

As a result of the fact that the payments will be automated, going forward each OzChase ID will only be able to have one bank account associated with it.  Whilst previously GRSA has been able to manually adjust this and provide separate remittance advices, unfortunately this option will no longer be available.
These changes are expected to take effect from the payment batch being paid on 24 March 2015.

Any queries regarding this change please contact Sarah Webster or the racing department on 08 8243 7100.
